By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

INTRODUCTION
Victory is the heritage of every believer in Christ. The Bible assures us that no matter the challenges, trials, or battles we face, we are more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens us. In 2 Samuel 8:6, we read that the Lord gave David victory wherever he went. This is not just a historical account but a prophetic declaration of what God intends for His people. "Victory on Every Side" is a promise of comprehensive success in all areas of life—spiritual, emotional, financial, and relational. This sermon explores how to walk in the victory that God has already provided for us in Christ, keys to overcoming, and biblical examples of those who experienced victory in all areas of their lives.

1. UNDERSTANDING THE SOURCE OF VICTORY

a) Victory Comes from the Lord
David’s victories were not by his might or strength but because the Lord was with him. Psalm 118:15-16 declares that "the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things." God is the ultimate source of our victory in every battle. We cannot rely on our strength but on God’s power (Zechariah 4:6).

b) The Power of Faith in Christ
Victory is the result of our faith in God. 1 John 5:4 says, "For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith." Faith in Christ allows us to claim the victories He has already won for us at the cross.

c) Overcoming Through the Blood of Jesus
Revelation 12:11 tells us that "they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony." The victory we have in Jesus is sealed by His blood. Our position in Christ gives us the authority to overcome every challenge and opposition.

2. KEYS TO WALKING IN VICTORY

a) Stay in God’s Presence
David was a man of God’s presence, always seeking His face. Psalm 91:1 declares, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." Constant communion with God is essential to walk in victory on every side.

b) Obedience to God’s Word
Victory comes when we follow God’s instructions. Deuteronomy 28:1-7 promises blessings and victory over enemies when we diligently obey His Word. Obedience opens the door to divine assistance and breakthrough.

c) Prayer as a Weapon of Victory
Prayer is a powerful tool for securing victory in every area of life. James 5:16 reminds us that "the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." Consistent prayer releases divine power to overcome every challenge.

d) Speaking the Word of God
Our words carry power, and speaking God’s Word over our situation brings victory. Proverbs 18:21 says, "The tongue has the power of life and death." Declaring God’s promises of victory shifts circumstances in our favour.

e) Maintaining a Heart of Gratitude
Gratitude is a powerful weapon of victory. When we thank God in advance, we release faith for His intervention. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us to present our requests with thanksgiving, and in return, we receive peace and victory.

3. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF VICTORY ON EVERY SIDE

a) Joshua’s Conquest of Canaan (Joshua 6-11)
Joshua experienced victory on every side as he led the Israelites into the Promised Land. His obedience to God's instructions, such as marching around Jericho, resulted in triumph. God fought for Israel, giving them victory after victory.

b) David’s Military Successes (2 Samuel 8:6, 14)
David, a man after God’s heart, was granted victory wherever he went. His reliance on God, not just in battle but in seeking divine direction, ensured success on every side.

c) Jehoshaphat’s Battle Against Moab and Ammon (2 Chronicles 20)
When faced with a vast army, King Jehoshaphat sought the Lord. God gave him victory without lifting a sword, as the enemies turned against each other. Worship and praise became Jehoshaphat’s weapons for victory.

d) Paul’s Triumph in Ministry (2 Corinthians 2:14)
Despite facing numerous challenges and persecutions, Apostle Paul declared that God "always leads us in triumph in Christ." Paul experienced victory in ministry because he relied on God’s strength, not his own.

4. BENEFITS OF VICTORY ON EVERY SIDE
a) Peace and Rest
When God grants victory, He also gives peace. 1 Kings 5:4 says that Solomon had peace on all sides because God subdued his enemies. Victory brings rest from struggles and battles.

b) Divine Favour and Promotion
Victory often leads to elevation and promotion. After David’s many victories, he was elevated to kingship. Similarly, when we experience victory on every side, we step into greater levels of favour and promotion.

c) Testimonies and Glory to God
Every victory we experience becomes a testimony to God’s greatness. Psalm 118:15 says, "Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous." Our victories bring glory to God and inspire faith in others.

5. HOW TO MAINTAIN VICTORY ON EVERY SIDE

a) Remain Humble Before God
Pride can cause us to lose the victories God has given us. 1 Peter 5:6 instructs us to humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand so He can lift us up.

b) Continue in Faith and Patience
Victory requires endurance. Hebrews 6:12 encourages us to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. We must not give up but keep pressing forward in faith.

c) Stay Watchful and Alert
1 Peter 5:8 warns us to be sober and vigilant because the enemy prowls around. Staying spiritually alert helps us to recognize and overcome the enemy’s schemes.

d) Surround Yourself with Believers
Victory is not meant to be achieved in isolation. Ecclesiastes 4:12 reminds us that "a cord of three strands is not quickly broken." Fellowship with other believers strengthens and encourages us to keep pursuing victory.

e) Keep Declaring God’s Promises
Continue to speak God’s Word over your life and situations. Isaiah 55:11 says God’s Word will not return void but will accomplish what He desires. Consistent declarations of victory affirm our faith.

CONCLUSION
Victory on every side is possible when we align ourselves with God’s purposes and walk in faith. Like David, Joshua, and Jehoshaphat, we can experience triumph in every area of our lives when we trust God, obey His instructions, and remain faithful in prayer and praise. As believers, victory is our inheritance in Christ, and through Him, we are destined to overcome every challenge and obstacle. Let us embrace this promise and declare, "Victory on Every Side!"
