BREAKING SATANIC CHAINS

Title: BREAKING SATANIC CHAINS

Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Acts 16:25-26
Supporting Texts: Isaiah 58:6, 2 Corinthians 10:4, John 8:36

INTRODUCTION
Satanic chains represent spiritual bondage, restrictions, and hindrances that prevent individuals from fulfilling their divine destinies. These chains can manifest in various areas of life—spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. However, God’s power is more than able to break any chain the enemy has used to bind us. In Acts 16:25-26, Paul and Silas experienced God’s delivering power when, despite being imprisoned, the foundations of the prison were shaken, and their chains were broken. This sermon will explore how we can experience the same divine intervention and freedom.

1. IDENTIFYING SATANIC CHAINS

a) Chains of Sin and Addiction
Sin is one of the most common chains used by the enemy to keep people bound. Romans 6:16 reminds us that we become slaves to whatever we obey, whether it is sin or righteousness. Addiction to substances, habits, or behaviors can bind a person spiritually and physically, making it hard to serve God wholeheartedly.

b) Chains of Fear and Anxiety
Satan uses fear to paralyze believers from stepping into their divine purpose. Fear leads to bondage, preventing progress. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind."

c) Chains of Ancestral Curses and Covenants
Generational or ancestral curses can also act as chains, where negative patterns and cycles persist in a family due to ungodly covenants. Lamentations 5:7 says, "Our ancestors sinned and are no more, and we bear their punishment."

d) Chains of Sickness and Infirmity
Satan often binds people with sickness and disease, causing long-term suffering. In Luke 13:11-13, Jesus delivered a woman who had been bound by a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years, showing His power to heal and deliver.

2. THE WEAPONS FOR BREAKING SATANIC CHAINS

a) The Word of God
The Word of God is a powerful weapon against the chains of the enemy. Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword." Meditating on and declaring God's Word over our lives breaks the enemy’s hold.

b) The Blood of Jesus
Revelation 12:11 declares that "they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb." The blood of Jesus has broken the power of sin, curses, and satanic oppression. It is a potent force in spiritual warfare.

c) Prayer and Fasting
Isaiah 58:6 reminds us that God has chosen fasting "to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke." Prayer and fasting are spiritual disciplines that break satanic chains and usher in deliverance.

d) The Name of Jesus
The name of Jesus carries authority over every power of darkness. Philippians 2:9-10 tells us that at the name of Jesus, every knee must bow, including every demonic force holding us in bondage. We must call on the name of Jesus to break every chain.

3. EXAMPLES OF BROKEN CHAINS IN THE BIBLE

a) Paul and Silas (Acts 16:25-26)
While in prison for preaching the gospel, Paul and Silas prayed and sang hymns to God. Their praise shook the foundations of the prison, and their chains were loosed. This shows that worship and prayer can lead to supernatural deliverance.

b) Peter in Prison (Acts 12:5-7)
Peter was imprisoned and bound with chains, but the church was praying fervently for him. God sent an angel to release him, and his chains fell off. Prayer played a critical role in Peter's deliverance, demonstrating the power of intercession.

c) The Gadarene Demoniac (Mark 5:1-15)
This man was possessed by a legion of demons and bound by chains that he broke physically, but spiritually, he was still in bondage. When Jesus arrived, He cast out the demons, and the man was completely set free. Jesus has power over every form of demonic bondage.

4. STEPS TO BREAKING SATANIC CHAINS

a) Confess and Repent of Sin
The first step in breaking chains is repentance. Sin gives the enemy legal access to our lives. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." When we repent, we close the door to the enemy.

b) Stand on the Word of God
God’s promises in the Bible are weapons for breaking chains. Joshua 1:8 encourages us to meditate on God’s Word day and night, for then we will be prosperous and successful. As we declare and believe God’s Word, chains are broken.

c) Engage in Persistent Prayer
James 5:16 tells us that "the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." Consistent prayer is essential for breaking satanic chains. We must pray fervently, believing in God’s power to deliver.

d) Apply the Blood of Jesus
Declare the power of the blood of Jesus over every area where the enemy has placed chains. The blood is a defense against satanic attacks and breaks curses. In Exodus 12, the blood of the lamb on the doorposts protected the Israelites from destruction. Similarly, the blood of Jesus protects and delivers us.

e) Worship and Praise
Worship has the power to break chains and invite God’s presence. In 2 Chronicles 20:22, as the people of Judah began to praise God, He set ambushes against their enemies. Praise confuses the enemy and ushers in divine intervention.

5. BENEFITS OF LIVING FREE FROM SATANIC CHAINS

a) Freedom to Serve God Fully
When the chains are broken, we are free to serve God without hindrance. Galatians 5:1 says, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

b) Access to Divine Favour and Blessings
Breaking satanic chains opens the door for God’s blessings and favor. Psalm 5:12 says, "Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield."

c) Restoration of Destiny and Purpose
When satanic chains are broken, destinies that were delayed or hindered are restored. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God’s plans for us are for good, to give us a future and a hope.

d) Peace and Joy
A life free from satanic chains is characterized by peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17 says, "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."

e) Divine Protection and Victory
When we are free from satanic chains, we walk in divine protection and victory. Isaiah 54:17 says, "No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you."

CONCLUSION
Satanic chains are real, but they are no match for the power of God. Jesus came to set the captives free, and He has given us the tools to break every chain—His Word, His blood, and His name. As we repent, pray, stand on the Word of God, and worship, we will experience the power of God breaking every satanic chain in our lives.
