INTRODUCTION:
Favour is a divine advantage that goes beyond human effort or qualifications. It is a supernatural endorsement by God that opens doors, grants opportunities, and elevates individuals. Walking in divine favour is living under God's unmerited blessings, where His presence turns impossibilities into possibilities.
1. UNDERSTANDING DIVINE FAVOUR
a) Definition of favour:
Favour is unmerited grace or approval that makes you stand out (Psalm 30:5).
b) The source of divine favour:
God is the giver of favour, and it comes through His grace (Proverbs 3:3-4).
c) Favour is not earned:
Divine favour is a gift from God, not a result of human effort (Ephesians 2:8-9).
d) Favour distinguishes you:
It sets you apart and elevates you above your peers (Exodus 12:36).
Biblical Example: Joseph
Joseph enjoyed divine favour even in Potiphar's house and prison, leading to his elevation in Egypt (Genesis 39:2-4).
2. KEYS TO WALKING IN DIVINE FAVOUR
a) Righteous living:
Walking uprightly attracts God’s favour (Psalm 84:11).
b) Humility:
God exalts the humble and grants them His favour (James 4:6).
c) Faith and obedience:
Faith in God and obedience to His word activate divine favour (Genesis 6:8).
d) A heart of gratitude:
Thanksgiving draws God’s attention and blessings (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
Biblical Example: Mary
Mary found favour with God and became the mother of Jesus through her faith and humility (Luke 1:28-30).
3. BENEFITS OF DIVINE FAVOUR
a) Open doors:
Favour opens doors that no one can shut (Revelation 3:8).
b) Supernatural provision:
Favour brings resources and help in times of need (Exodus 12:35-36).
c) Victory over opposition:
Favour silences adversaries and grants victory (Psalm 41:11).
d) Acceleration of destiny:
Divine favour fast-tracks promotion and elevation (1 Samuel 16:22).
Biblical Example: Esther
Esther received favour from the king and saved her people from destruction (Esther 2:17; 5:2-3).
4. HINDRANCES TO DIVINE FAVOUR
a) Sin and disobedience:
Sin separates us from God’s favour (Isaiah 59:2).
b) Pride:
God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (Proverbs 16:18).
c) Unforgiveness:
A bitter heart blocks divine blessings (Matthew 6:14-15).
d) Lack of faith:
Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).
Biblical Example: King Saul
Saul lost God’s favour due to disobedience and pride, leading to his downfall (1 Samuel 15:22-23).
5. MAINTAINING DIVINE FAVOUR
a) Stay connected to God:
Abide in God’s presence through prayer and worship (John 15:5).
b) Honour God in all you do:
Put God first, and He will sustain His favour over your life (Proverbs 3:9-10).
c) Serve others:
Serving others selflessly attracts God’s blessings (Mark 10:45).
d) Walk by faith:
Trust in God’s promises, even in difficult times (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Biblical Example: Daniel
Daniel maintained divine favour through faithfulness and a prayerful lifestyle (Daniel 1:9; 6:10).
