POSSESSING YOUR POSSESSION

POSSESSING YOUR POSSESSION

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Obadiah 1:17

Key Verse: “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” — Obadiah 1:17

Supporting Texts: Joshua 1:3, Deuteronomy 2:24–25, Numbers 13:30, Matthew 11:12, Romans 8:37

Description: God has already given His people their inheritance, but it must be taken by faith, obedience, and spiritual authority.

INTRODUCTION

Possessing your possession is a divine mandate for every believer. God has made great promises concerning your life, destiny, and inheritance, yet many fail to experience them because they do not rise to take hold of what has already been provided. The Scripture makes it clear that deliverance and holiness position us to possess what rightfully belongs to us.

The journey of the Israelites into the Promised Land illustrates this truth. Though God had given them the land, they still had to arise, confront opposition, and take possession of it. Likewise, every believer must understand that God’s promises require active participation, not passive expectation.

This message is a call to rise in faith, confront limitations, and step into the fullness of God’s promises. Your possession is available, but it must be claimed through spiritual understanding, obedience, and bold action.

1. GOD HAS ALREADY GIVEN THE PROMISE

Your possession is not something you beg for; it is something God has already released.

a) Divine Assurance (Joshua 1:3)
God declared that every place the sole of their foot treads has already been given, showing that the promise precedes possession.

b) A Settled Inheritance (Ephesians 1:11)
Believers have obtained an inheritance in Christ, which is already secured in the spirit.

c) God’s Faithfulness (Numbers 23:19)
God does not lie; what He promises, He fulfils without fail.

d) Covenant Backing (Deuteronomy 7:9)
God’s promises are backed by His covenant, making them unbreakable.

Biblical Example: Caleb confidently declared that they were well able to take the land because he believed in God’s promise (Numbers 13:30).

2. ARISING IS A REQUIREMENT FOR POSSESSION

You must rise spiritually and physically to take what belongs to you.

a) The Call to Arise (Deuteronomy 2:24)
God commanded Israel to rise, journey, and begin to possess the land.

b) Refusing Passivity (Proverbs 6:9–11)
Laziness and inaction can rob believers of their inheritance.

c) Taking Initiative (Isaiah 60:1)
Arising and shining activates divine manifestation in your life.

d) Courage to Move Forward (Joshua 1:6)
Strength and courage are essential in stepping into God’s promises.

Biblical Example: David arose to confront Goliath, taking bold action to secure victory for Israel (1 Samuel 17:45–50).

3. POSSESSION REQUIRES SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Opposition will come, but victory is assured through God.

a) Resistance is Inevitable (Deuteronomy 2:24–25)
God allowed opposition but also promised victory over enemies.

b) The Violent Take It by Force (Matthew 11:12)
Spiritual aggression is required to claim divine promises.

c) Authority in Christ (Luke 10:19)
Believers have been given power over all the works of the enemy.

d) Overcoming Through Faith (1 John 5:4)
Faith is the victory that overcomes the world and its challenges.

Biblical Example: Joshua led Israel in battles against strong nations, demonstrating that possession often involves warfare (Joshua 6:1–20).

4. HOLINESS AND OBEDIENCE SUSTAIN POSSESSION

What you possess must be maintained through righteous living.

a) Holiness as a Requirement (Obadiah 1:17)
Deliverance and holiness precede possession and sustain it.

b) Obedience Secures Blessing (Deuteronomy 28:1–2)
Walking in obedience ensures continuous enjoyment of God’s promises.

c) Avoiding Compromise (Joshua 23:6–8)
Holding fast to God prevents loss of inheritance.

d) Faithfulness in Stewardship (Luke 16:10)
Being faithful in what you receive ensures increase and preservation.

Biblical Example: Solomon’s kingdom prospered when he walked in obedience but declined when he turned away from God (1 Kings 3:3; 11:9–11).

CONCLUSION

Possessing your possession is both a promise and a responsibility. God has already made provision for your success, breakthrough, and inheritance, but you must arise, engage, and take hold of it. Faith, courage, and obedience are essential in stepping into what God has prepared for you.

Refuse to remain in limitation. Rise with confidence in God’s Word, confront every opposition, and walk boldly into your divine inheritance. What God has spoken concerning you shall surely come to pass as you take action in faith.

DIVINE TURN AROUND

DIVINE TURN AROUND

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: 1 Samuel 1:10-20

Key Verse: “And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid… then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life.” (1 Samuel 1:11)

Supporting Texts: Genesis 50:20, Psalm 126:1, Romans 8:28, Joel 2:25-26, Isaiah 61:3

Description: This study reveals how God turns sorrow into joy and transforms negative situations into testimonies of glory.

INTRODUCTION

Life is full of situations that seem hopeless, painful, and beyond human solution. Hannah’s story in 1 Samuel 1 portrays deep sorrow, delay, and reproach. Yet, in the midst of her affliction, she cried out to God with a broken but faithful heart.

Divine turn around occurs when God steps into a situation and changes the narrative completely. What was once a source of shame becomes a testimony. God specialises in reversing impossibilities and bringing joy where there was sorrow.

This message reminds us that no matter how difficult a situation may be, God has the power to turn it around. When we trust Him, pray earnestly, and remain faithful, He will bring about a transformation that only He can accomplish.

1. DIVINE TURN AROUND BEGINS WITH FERVENT PRAYER

A sincere cry to God initiates change.

a) Hannah prayed from a place of deep anguish (1 Samuel 1:10)
Her prayer was not casual but intense and heartfelt, demonstrating that genuine encounters with God often come through desperate and sincere seeking.

b) God responds to heartfelt prayers (Psalm 34:17)
The Lord hears the cry of the righteous and delivers them, showing that no prayer made in faith is ignored.

c) Prayer shifts situations spiritually (Jeremiah 33:3)
Calling upon God invites divine intervention that changes circumstances beyond human ability.

d) Persistence in prayer brings breakthrough (Luke 18:1)
Consistent prayer builds faith and positions believers for divine answers.

Biblical Example:
Hannah receiving Samuel (1 Samuel 1:19-20) shows how God answers persistent and heartfelt prayers.

2. GOD TURNS EVIL INTO GOOD

What was meant for harm becomes a blessing in God’s hands.

a) God reverses negative intentions (Genesis 50:20)
Joseph declared that what his brothers meant for evil, God turned for good, revealing God’s ability to transform adversity into purpose.

b) God works all things together for good (Romans 8:28)
Even painful experiences are woven into God’s plan for ultimate good.

c) Trials prepare for testimony (James 1:2-3)
Challenges build strength and endurance, shaping believers for greater outcomes.

d) God’s plan overrides human plans (Proverbs 19:21)
No matter the intentions of people, God’s purpose will prevail.

Biblical Example:
Joseph’s journey (Genesis 41:39-41) shows how God turned betrayal into elevation.

3. GOD RESTORES LOST YEARS AND JOY

Divine turn around includes restoration and joy.

a) God restores what was lost (Joel 2:25)
The Lord has the power to restore years of loss, bringing back what seemed gone forever.

b) Sorrow is turned into joy (Psalm 126:1)
When God intervenes, it feels like a dream, as joy replaces past pain and disappointment.

c) God removes shame (Isaiah 61:7)
Instead of shame, God gives double honour and everlasting joy.

d) Restoration is complete (Jeremiah 30:17)
God not only heals but fully restores every broken area of life.

Biblical Example:
Job’s restoration (Job 42:10) shows how God gives double after a season of suffering.

4. DIVINE TURN AROUND LEADS TO PURPOSE AND TESTIMONY

God’s intervention positions us for greater purpose.

a) Hannah dedicated her miracle to God (1 Samuel 1:27-28)
Her answered prayer became a tool for God’s purpose, showing that blessings are meant to glorify God.

b) Testimonies strengthen others (Revelation 12:11)
What God does in one life becomes encouragement for others.

c) God’s blessings come with responsibility (Luke 12:48)
Those who receive much are expected to use it wisely for God’s glory.

d) Turn around glorifies God (Psalm 115:1)
Every transformation points back to God as the source.

Biblical Example:
Samuel’s life (1 Samuel 3:19-20) shows how a miracle child became a prophet with great impact.

CONCLUSION

Divine turn around is God’s specialty. No situation is too difficult for Him to change. When we pray, trust Him, and remain faithful, He steps in and rewrites our story.

Your season of sorrow can become a season of joy. What seems like delay can turn into divine acceleration. As you hold on to God, expect Him to turn your situation around for His glory.

GO INTO ALL THE WORLD

GO INTO ALL THE WORLD

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Mark 16:15-18

Key Verse: “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)

Supporting Texts: Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Romans 10:14-15, 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, Hebrews 2:3-4

Description: This study reveals the believer’s mandate to preach the Gospel and operate in divine power as witnesses of Christ.

INTRODUCTION

In Mark 16:15-18, Jesus gave His disciples what is known as the Great Commission. After His resurrection, He commissioned them to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. This command is not limited to the early disciples but extends to every believer.

The Gospel is the good news of salvation, and it carries the power to transform lives. However, it must be proclaimed for it to have impact. Jesus made it clear that believers are not to remain passive but to actively engage in spreading the message of the Kingdom.

Alongside this mandate, Jesus promised signs that would follow those who believe. This shows that evangelism is not only about words but also about demonstrating God’s power. The mission is both a responsibility and a privilege.

1. THE GREAT COMMISSION IS A DIVINE MANDATE

Every believer is called to preach the Gospel.

a) The command is for all believers (Mark 16:15)
Jesus did not limit this instruction to a select few; it is a universal assignment for everyone who follows Him.

b) The message must reach all nations (Matthew 28:19)
The Gospel is not confined to one location but is meant for every tribe, nation, and people group.

c) Preaching is essential for salvation (Romans 10:14)
People cannot believe in what they have not heard, making evangelism a necessity.

d) Obedience brings fulfilment (James 1:22)
Acting on this command aligns us with God’s purpose and brings spiritual fulfilment.

Biblical Example:
Philip preaching in Samaria (Acts 8:5-8) demonstrates obedience to the call to evangelise.

2. THE GOSPEL CARRIES THE POWER OF SALVATION

The message we preach has divine authority and impact.

a) The Gospel saves (Mark 16:16)
Those who believe and are baptised shall be saved, showing the life-changing power of the message.

b) It transforms lives (2 Corinthians 5:17)
The Gospel brings new birth and a complete transformation of identity.

c) It reveals God’s righteousness (Romans 1:16-17)
The Gospel unveils God’s plan of salvation through faith.

d) It delivers from bondage (Colossians 1:13)
Through the Gospel, people are translated from darkness into light.

Biblical Example:
The conversion of Saul (Acts 9:3-6) shows the transformative power of the Gospel.

3. SIGNS AND POWER ACCOMPANY BELIEVERS

God confirms His Word through supernatural manifestations.

a) Signs follow those who believe (Mark 16:17)
Jesus promised that miracles would accompany believers as confirmation of the Gospel.

b) Authority over the enemy (Luke 10:19)
Believers are given power to overcome the forces of darkness.

c) Healing and deliverance (Mark 16:18)
The sick shall recover, demonstrating God’s compassion and power.

d) The Holy Spirit empowers (Acts 1:8)
The ability to operate in power comes through the Holy Spirit.

Biblical Example:
The apostles performing miracles (Acts 5:12-16) shows the manifestation of divine power.

4. EVANGELISM REQUIRES BOLDNESS AND COMMITMENT

Sharing the Gospel demands courage and dedication.

a) Boldness is necessary (Acts 4:29)
Believers must pray for and walk in boldness to proclaim the truth without fear.

b) Do not be ashamed (Romans 1:16)
The Gospel is the power of God, and we must not shrink back from declaring it.

c) Perseverance is required (1 Corinthians 15:58)
The work of evangelism requires consistency and dedication.

d) Eternal rewards await (Daniel 12:3)
Those who lead others to righteousness will shine forever.

Biblical Example:
Paul’s missionary journeys (Acts 13:2-3) demonstrate commitment to spreading the Gospel.

CONCLUSION

The command to go into all the world is a call to action. Every believer has a role in spreading the Gospel and demonstrating God’s power. This is not just a task but a divine assignment with eternal significance.

As we obey this mandate, God works through us to bring salvation, healing, and transformation to the world. Let us rise with boldness, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and fulfil the Great Commission.

1. Lord, give me a passion for evangelism in Jesus name

2. Father, empower me to preach the Gospel boldly in Jesus name

THE POWER OF THE RESURRECTION

THE POWER OF THE RESURRECTION

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Mark 16:1-8

Key Verse: “He is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.” (Mark 16:6)

Supporting Texts: Matthew 28:5-7, Luke 24:5-7, John 20:1-18, Romans 6:4, 1 Corinthians 15:20-22

Description: This study reveals the power of Christ’s resurrection as the foundation of hope, victory, and new life for every believer.

INTRODUCTION

Mark 16:1-8 records the glorious event of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The women came to the tomb expecting to find a dead body, but instead encountered the reality of an empty tomb and a risen Saviour.

The resurrection is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. Without it, there would be no victory over sin, no assurance of eternal life, and no hope for the future. It confirms that Jesus is who He claimed to be—the Son of God with power over death.

This passage shifts the narrative from sorrow to joy, from despair to hope. It reminds us that no situation is beyond God’s power. The resurrection is not just an event to celebrate but a reality to live in daily.

1. THE RESURRECTION BRINGS HOPE IN PLACE OF DESPAIR

The resurrection transforms sorrow into joy.

a) The women came in sorrow (Mark 16:1)
They approached the tomb with grief and heaviness, expecting finality, but God had a different plan beyond their understanding.

b) The stone was rolled away (Mark 16:4)
What seemed like an impossible barrier had already been removed, showing that God works ahead of us.

c) The message of hope was declared (Mark 16:6)
The announcement that Jesus had risen brought immediate hope and changed their perspective completely.

d) God turns mourning into joy (Psalm 30:11)
The resurrection demonstrates God’s power to reverse situations and bring joy out of sorrow.

Biblical Example:
Joseph’s story (Genesis 50:20) shows how God turns painful situations into good outcomes.

2. THE RESURRECTION CONFIRMS CHRIST’S VICTORY

Jesus conquered death, sin, and the grave.

a) Death could not hold Him (Acts 2:24)
The resurrection proves that death has no power over Christ.

b) He is the firstfruits (1 Corinthians 15:20)
His resurrection guarantees that believers also have victory over death.

c) The grave is defeated (Hosea 13:14)
The power of the grave was broken through Christ’s resurrection.

d) Victory is assured (1 Corinthians 15:57)
Through Jesus, believers receive victory over every form of defeat.

Biblical Example:
Jonah’s deliverance (Jonah 2:10) symbolises victory over what seemed like certain death.

3. THE RESURRECTION RELEASES NEW LIFE

Believers are called to live in the power of new life.

a) Raised to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4)
The resurrection empowers believers to live transformed lives.

b) Old things are passed away (2 Corinthians 5:17)
In Christ, we become new creations, leaving behind the old nature.

c) Resurrection power works in us (Ephesians 1:19-20)
The same power that raised Jesus is at work within believers.

d) Life replaces death (John 11:25)
Jesus is the resurrection and the life, giving eternal life to those who believe.

Biblical Example:
Lazarus raised from the dead (John 11:43-44) demonstrates the power of new life.

4. THE RESURRECTION DEMANDS A RESPONSE

The risen Christ calls for faith and action.

a) Go and tell the good news (Mark 16:7)
The women were instructed to share the message, showing that the resurrection must be proclaimed.

b) Faith is required (John 20:29)
Believing in the resurrection brings blessing and life.

c) Do not live in fear (Mark 16:8)
Though the women were initially afraid, the message calls believers to move beyond fear into faith.

d) Live with purpose (Colossians 3:1-2)
Being raised with Christ means setting our hearts on things above.

Biblical Example:
The disciples after the resurrection (Acts 4:33) boldly proclaimed the risen Christ.

CONCLUSION

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the ultimate demonstration of God’s power. It brings hope where there was despair, victory where there was defeat, and life where there was death.

As believers, we are called to live in the reality of the resurrection. Let it shape our faith, strengthen our hope, and empower us to walk in newness of life every day.

IT IS FINISHED

IT IS FINISHED

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Mark 15:37-39

Key Verse: “And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.” (Mark 15:37)

Supporting Texts: John 19:30, Colossians 2:14-15, Hebrews 10:12-14, Isaiah 53:5, Romans 8:1-2

Description: This study reveals the completed work of Christ on the cross and the victory it secured for every believer.

INTRODUCTION

Mark 15:37-39 captures the climactic moment of Christ’s earthly mission. With a loud cry, Jesus gave up His spirit, marking the completion of His redemptive work. This was not a cry of defeat but a declaration of victory.

The parallel account in John records the words, “It is finished,” signifying that everything required for salvation had been accomplished. The price for sin had been paid in full, and the power of darkness had been broken.

This moment changed the course of history. The cross was not the end but the beginning of victory for all who believe. It calls us to live in the reality of what Christ has already finished.

1. THE WORK OF REDEMPTION WAS COMPLETED

Jesus fulfilled the mission He was sent to accomplish.

a) The sacrifice was fully paid (John 19:30)
When Jesus declared “It is finished,” it meant that the debt of sin was completely settled with nothing left unpaid.

b) One sacrifice for all time (Hebrews 10:12)
Christ’s offering was sufficient once and for all, eliminating the need for repeated sacrifices.

c) Prophecy was fulfilled (Isaiah 53:5)
His suffering and death fulfilled the prophetic declarations concerning the Messiah.

d) Salvation is now available (Romans 10:13)
Because the work is finished, anyone who calls on the Lord can be saved.

Biblical Example:
The completion of creation (Genesis 2:2) reflects how God finishes what He begins.

2. THE POWER OF SIN AND SATAN WAS DEFEATED

The cross secured victory over every opposing force.

a) The handwriting of ordinances was cancelled (Colossians 2:14)
Every accusation against us was nailed to the cross and removed.

b) Principalities were disarmed (Colossians 2:15)
Jesus triumphed over demonic powers, rendering them powerless over believers.

c) Sin no longer has dominion (Romans 6:14)
Through Christ’s finished work, believers are no longer slaves to sin.

d) Freedom is established (John 8:36)
Whom the Son sets free is free indeed, reflecting total deliverance.

Biblical Example:
David’s victory over Goliath (1 Samuel 17:49-50) symbolises triumph over overwhelming opposition.

3. ACCESS TO GOD WAS OPENED

The barrier between God and humanity was removed.

a) The veil was torn (Mark 15:38)
The tearing of the temple veil signified direct access to God for all believers.

b) Boldness to approach God (Hebrews 4:16)
We can now come confidently before God’s throne of grace.

c) Reconciliation was achieved (2 Corinthians 5:18)
Christ restored the broken relationship between God and man.

d) A new covenant was established (Luke 22:20)
The cross ushered in a better covenant based on grace.

Biblical Example:
Moses entering God’s presence (Exodus 33:11) foreshadows the access believers now have.

4. THE CROSS DEMANDS A RESPONSE

The finished work requires personal acceptance and commitment.

a) The centurion believed (Mark 15:39)
Seeing how Jesus died, he declared Him the Son of God, showing that the cross reveals truth.

b) Faith is required (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Salvation is received by grace through faith in the finished work.

c) Live in the victory of Christ (Galatians 2:20)
Believers are called to live a life transformed by Christ’s sacrifice.

d) Share the message (Mark 16:15)
The victory of the cross must be proclaimed to the world.

Biblical Example:
The jailer’s conversion (Acts 16:30-34) shows the response of faith to salvation.

CONCLUSION

“It is finished” is the greatest declaration of victory ever made. Through the cross, Jesus completed the work of redemption, defeated the powers of darkness, and opened the way to God.

As believers, we must live in this victory daily. The work is already done, our role is to believe, receive, and walk in the fullness of what Christ has accomplished.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, thank You for the finished work of Christ in Jesus name

2. Father, help me to live in the reality of my redemption in Jesus name

3. Lord, deliver me from every bondage through the power of the cross in Jesus name

Main Text: Mark 15:1-39

Key Verse: “And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.” (Mark 15:37)

Supporting Texts: Isaiah 53:3-7, Matthew 27:27-54, John 19:16-30, Philippians 2:8, 1 Peter 2:24

Description: This study reveals the depth of Christ’s sacrifice and the power of His suffering for the redemption of humanity.

INTRODUCTION

Mark 15 presents one of the most profound moments in human history: the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. From His trial before Pilate to His death on the cross, we see the fulfilment of God’s redemptive plan.

Jesus, though innocent, endured rejection, humiliation, and intense suffering. He was mocked, beaten, and crucified, not for His sins, but for the sins of humanity. His suffering was not accidental but purposeful, ordained for our salvation.

This passage calls us to reflect deeply on the sacrifice of Christ. It reminds us of the price paid for our redemption and challenges us to respond with gratitude, faith, and total surrender.

1. CHRIST SUFFERED UNJUSTLY FOR OUR SAKE

Jesus endured suffering despite His innocence.

a) Jesus was falsely accused (Mark 15:3-4)
The chief priests brought many accusations against Him, yet none were valid, showing that He suffered without cause.

b) He was rejected by the people (Mark 15:11-13)
The crowd chose Barabbas over Jesus, demonstrating humanity’s tendency to reject truth.

c) He was condemned unjustly (Mark 15:14-15)
Pilate, knowing Jesus was innocent, still delivered Him to be crucified under pressure.

d) His suffering fulfilled prophecy (Isaiah 53:7)
He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth, fulfilling what was written.

Biblical Example:
Joseph’s unjust suffering (Genesis 39:20-21) foreshadows Christ’s innocence in suffering.

2. CHRIST ENDURED HUMILIATION AND PAIN

The depth of His suffering reveals the extent of His love.

a) He was mocked and ridiculed (Mark 15:17-20)
Soldiers clothed Him in purple and mocked Him as “King,” subjecting Him to shame and humiliation.

b) He was physically beaten (Mark 15:15)
Jesus was scourged, enduring severe physical pain for our sake.

c) He carried His cross (Mark 15:21)
The weight of the cross symbolises the burden He bore for humanity’s sins.

d) He was crucified (Mark 15:24)
Crucifixion was a painful and shameful death, yet Jesus endured it willingly.

Biblical Example:
Isaiah’s prophecy (Isaiah 53:5) foretold that He would be wounded for our transgressions.

3. CHRIST’S SACRIFICE BROUGHT REDEMPTION

His death was the price for our salvation.

a) He bore our sins (1 Peter 2:24)
Jesus carried our sins in His body on the cross so that we might be free.

b) His blood brings forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7)
Through His sacrifice, we receive redemption and forgiveness of sins.

c) He reconciled us to God (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)
Christ’s death restored the broken relationship between humanity and God.

d) Salvation is a gift of grace (Romans 6:23)
Eternal life is made available through His sacrifice.

Biblical Example:
The Passover lamb (Exodus 12:13) symbolises Christ as the Lamb whose blood brings deliverance.

4. THE CROSS REVEALS GOD’S LOVE AND POWER

The crucifixion is the ultimate demonstration of divine love.

a) God’s love is displayed (Romans 5:8)
Christ died for us while we were still sinners, showing unconditional love.

b) The veil was torn (Mark 15:38)
Access to God was opened, removing the barrier between God and humanity.

c) The centurion recognised Him (Mark 15:39)
Even a Roman soldier acknowledged Jesus as the Son of God, revealing the impact of the cross.

d) The cross brings victory (Colossians 2:14-15)
Through His death, Jesus triumphed over sin and principalities.

Biblical Example:
The bronze serpent (Numbers 21:8-9) foreshadows salvation through looking to Christ.

CONCLUSION

The suffering of Christ is the foundation of our faith. His sacrifice paid the price for our sins and opened the way for eternal life. Every pain He endured was for our redemption.

As believers, we must respond with gratitude, surrender, and a commitment to live for Him. The cross is not just a symbol—it is a call to a transformed life, rooted in the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

WHEN YOU FAIL GOD

WHEN YOU FAIL GOD

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Mark 14:66-72

Key Verse: “And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him… And when he thought thereon, he wept.” (Mark 14:72)

Supporting Texts: Luke 22:31-32, John 21:15-17, Psalm 51:10-12, Proverbs 24:16, 1 John 1:9

Description: This study reveals that failure is not final and that God offers restoration to those who return to Him in repentance.

INTRODUCTION

In Mark 14:66-72, we witness one of the most emotional moments in Peter’s life. Despite his earlier bold declarations of loyalty, he denied Jesus three times under pressure. Fear overtook his faith, and in a moment of weakness, he failed.

However, Peter’s story does not end in failure. When he realised what he had done, he wept bitterly, showing genuine repentance. This moment became the turning point that led to his restoration and future impact in the Kingdom.

This passage teaches that even the strongest believers can fall, but failure is not the end. God’s grace provides a pathway to restoration for those who are willing to repent and return to Him.

1. FAILURE CAN COME THROUGH PRESSURE AND FEAR

Even committed believers can stumble under pressure.

a) Peter faced intense pressure (Mark 14:66-67)
Surrounded by hostile people, Peter was confronted and became afraid, showing how external pressure can influence decisions.

b) Fear can override faith (Mark 14:68)
In that moment, fear caused Peter to deny what he once boldly proclaimed, revealing the danger of yielding to fear.

c) Overconfidence can lead to failure (Mark 14:29-31)
Peter had earlier declared that he would never deny Jesus, yet his self-confidence was not enough to sustain him.

d) Human weakness is real (Romans 7:18)
Without reliance on God, the flesh is weak and prone to failure.

Biblical Example:
Elijah’s fear (1 Kings 19:1-4) after victory shows how even great men can falter under pressure.

2. FAILURE SHOULD LEAD TO REPENTANCE

The right response to failure is a broken and repentant heart.

a) Peter remembered Jesus’ words (Mark 14:72)
Reflection on God’s Word brings conviction and awareness of our mistakes.

b) He wept bitterly (Mark 14:72)
His sorrow showed genuine repentance, not just regret, but a deep desire to be restored.

c) God desires a broken spirit (Psalm 51:17)
A humble and contrite heart is what God accepts and responds to.

d) Repentance restores fellowship (1 John 1:9)
Confessing our sins brings forgiveness and cleansing.

Biblical Example:
David’s repentance (Psalm 51:1-4) after his sin shows the power of a broken heart before God.

3. GOD’S GRACE MAKES RESTORATION POSSIBLE

Failure does not disqualify us from God’s purpose.

a) Jesus prayed for Peter (Luke 22:31-32)
Even before Peter failed, Jesus interceded for him, showing God’s foreknowledge and mercy.

b) God’s mercy is greater than failure (Lamentations 3:22-23)
His mercies are new every morning, offering fresh opportunities.

c) The righteous rise again (Proverbs 24:16)
Falling is not final; rising again is what defines a believer.

d) Grace restores purpose (Romans 8:28)
God works even our failures into His plan for good.

Biblical Example:
The prodigal son (Luke 15:20-24) was restored fully despite his mistakes.

4. RESTORATION LEADS TO GREATER IMPACT

God can use restored lives for greater purpose.

a) Peter was restored by Jesus (John 21:15-17)
Jesus reaffirmed Peter’s calling and entrusted him with responsibility again.

b) Restoration strengthens others (Luke 22:32)
Peter was told to strengthen his brethren after being restored.

c) Failure produces humility (1 Peter 5:5-6)
Experiences of failure teach dependence on God and humility.

d) Restored believers become powerful witnesses (Acts 2:14)
Peter later preached boldly, leading many to salvation.

Biblical Example:
Peter’s transformation (Acts 2:37-41) shows how a restored life can impact multitudes.

CONCLUSION

Failure is not the end of the story for a believer. Peter’s experience shows that even when we fall, God’s grace is available to restore us. What matters most is how we respond, through repentance and returning to God.

God can turn failure into testimony. When we humble ourselves and seek Him, He restores us, strengthens us, and uses us for greater impact. No matter your past, your future in God is still secure.

THE POWER OF STANDING ALONE

THE POWER OF STANDING ALONE

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Mark 14:53-65

Key Verse: “But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Jesus said, I am…” (Mark 14:61-62)

Supporting Texts: Matthew 26:57-68, Isaiah 53:7, 1 Peter 2:23, Daniel 3:16-18, 2 Timothy 4:16-17

Description: This study reveals the strength and victory that come from remaining faithful to God even when standing alone under pressure.

INTRODUCTION

In Mark 14:53-65, Jesus stood before the council, falsely accused, mocked, and condemned. At this critical moment, His disciples had fled, and He faced intense opposition alone. Yet, in the midst of pressure, He remained calm, focused, and unwavering in His identity.

This scene highlights a powerful truth, there are moments in life when standing for truth may mean standing alone. Faith is truly tested not in comfort but in adversity. Jesus demonstrated that strength is not found in numbers but in conviction and obedience to God.

This passage challenges believers to remain steadfast even when misunderstood, rejected, or opposed. Standing alone for God may be difficult, but it produces spiritual strength, divine approval, and lasting victory.

1. STANDING ALONE REQUIRES COURAGE

Faith under pressure demands boldness and inner strength.

a) Jesus faced false accusations (Mark 14:55-56)
Despite being innocent, He was accused unjustly, showing that standing for truth may attract opposition and misunderstanding.

b) Courage comes from conviction (Acts 4:19-20)
When we are convinced of the truth, we can stand firm regardless of external pressure or threats.

c) Fear must be overcome (Isaiah 41:10)
God’s presence gives us the strength to stand boldly without fear of man.

d) Boldness is a mark of faith (Proverbs 28:1)
The righteous are as bold as a lion, reflecting confidence rooted in God.

Biblical Example:
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel 3:16-18) stood firm despite the threat of death.

2. SILENCE CAN BE A FORM OF STRENGTH

Not every situation requires a defence.

a) Jesus held His peace (Mark 14:61)
His silence demonstrated self-control and trust in God’s justice rather than reacting to false accusations.

b) Wisdom knows when to speak (Ecclesiastes 3:7)
There is a time to speak and a time to remain silent, and discernment is essential.

c) Silence avoids unnecessary conflict (Proverbs 17:28)
Holding one’s peace can prevent escalation and maintain dignity.

d) God fights for the silent (Exodus 14:14)
When we trust God, He takes over our battles.

Biblical Example:
Isaiah’s prophecy of the suffering servant (Isaiah 53:7) shows quiet endurance under oppression.

3. CONFESSING THE TRUTH UNDER PRESSURE BRINGS VICTORY

Standing for truth must not be compromised.

a) Jesus declared His identity (Mark 14:62)
Even under pressure, He boldly affirmed who He was, showing that truth must never be denied.

b) Confession reflects faith (Romans 10:9)
Declaring truth openly is a sign of genuine faith and commitment.

c) Truth cannot be hidden (Matthew 10:32-33)
Acknowledging Christ before others secures divine acknowledgement.

d) Standing for truth glorifies God (John 18:37)
Living and speaking truth reflects God’s nature.

Biblical Example:
Peter and John before the council (Acts 4:8-12) boldly declared the name of Jesus despite threats.

4. GOD STANDS WITH THOSE WHO STAND FOR HIM

You are never truly alone when you stand for God.

a) Jesus was not abandoned by God (Mark 14:62)
Though physically alone, He remained in alignment with the Father’s will and presence.

b) God strengthens His servants (2 Timothy 4:17)
Even when others forsake us, God stands with us and empowers us.

c) Divine presence brings victory (Deuteronomy 31:6)
God promises never to leave nor forsake those who trust Him.

d) Standing alone leads to honour (1 Samuel 2:30)
Those who honour God by standing for Him will be honoured in return.

Biblical Example:
Elijah standing alone (1 Kings 18:22, 36-38) experienced God’s power despite isolation.

CONCLUSION

Standing alone for God is one of the greatest tests of faith. It requires courage, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to truth. Jesus’ example shows that even in isolation, we can remain strong and victorious.

When we choose to stand for God, we are never truly alone. His presence, power, and approval accompany us. As you remain faithful under pressure, God will strengthen you and bring you into victory.

MAY – MY MONTH OF SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGHS WITHOUT STRUGGLE

MAY – MY MONTH OF SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGHS WITHOUT STRUGGLE

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Deuteronomy 6:10-11

Key Verse: “And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not…” — Deuteronomy 6:11

Supporting Texts: Isaiah 45:1-3, Psalm 126:1-2, Zechariah 4:6-7, Deuteronomy 28:12, Luke 5:4-7

Declaration Theme: This month, God will release breakthroughs that do not depend on sweat, struggle, or human limitation, but by divine intervention and supernatural favour.

INTRODUCTION

Breakthrough without struggle is the dimension of God’s favour where results come without proportional human effort. It is when God steps into a man’s labour and multiplies it beyond natural explanation. This is the realm where God opens doors that no man can shut, and causes increase that defies human effort.

In the kingdom of God, struggle is not the highest level of achievement. There is a higher realm called supernatural breakthrough, where divine grace overrides limitation, delay, and hardship. This is the season where God moves ahead of your efforts and makes things happen for you.

As you declare this month, you are stepping into a prophetic season where God will remove struggle, replace labour with favour, and turn your efforts into extraordinary results.

1. GOD IS ABLE TO GIVE BREAKTHROUGHS WITHOUT HUMAN EFFORT

God can prosper a man beyond natural struggle and limitation.

a) Supernatural Provision (Deuteronomy 6:11)
God gives access to things already prepared without personal labour.

b) Divine Acceleration (Amos 9:13)
Seasons of delay are overtaken by rapid divine fulfillment.

c) Grace Beyond Effort (Zechariah 4:6)
Success comes not by might or power, but by the Spirit of God.

d) Unexpected Harvest (Luke 5:6-7)
Peter’s net broke due to overwhelming breakthrough after a long night of struggle.

Biblical Example: Isaac reaped a hundredfold in the same land during famine without natural struggle because God blessed him (Genesis 26:12-13).

2. GOD CAN REVERSE LONG PERIODS OF STRUGGLE

What took years of effort can be turned around in a moment by God.

a) Restoration of Joy (Psalm 126:1-2)
God turns captivity into laughter and joy.

b) Breaking Delay (Isaiah 45:2)
God goes before you and removes barriers.

c) Divine Intervention (2 Kings 7:1)
God changes impossible situations overnight.

d) Reversal of Stagnation (Exodus 14:21-22)
God opens ways where there were none before.

Biblical Example: The lepers at Samaria experienced sudden abundance after prolonged famine and scarcity (2 Kings 7:8-9).

3. DIVINE BREAKTHROUGH COMES THROUGH OBEDIENCE AND FAITH

Supernatural results are activated by obedience to God’s instruction.

a) Obedience Unlocks Provision (Luke 5:4-6)
Peter obeyed Jesus’ instruction and experienced a net-breaking miracle.

b) Faith Activates Results (Mark 11:23)
Believing God’s Word brings manifestation.

c) Trust in God’s Word (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Divine direction leads to supernatural outcomes.

d) Acting on Instruction (John 2:5-7)
The miracle at Cana happened through obedience to instruction.

Biblical Example: The widow of Zarephath received supernatural supply when she obeyed the prophet’s instruction (1 Kings 17:13-16).

4. THIS MONTH IS PROPHETICALLY SET FOR SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGHS

God has ordained this season for divine manifestation in your life.

a) A Season of Open Doors (Revelation 3:8)
God sets before you an open door that no man can shut.

b) Increase Without Sweat (Deuteronomy 28:12)
God blesses the work of your hands supernaturally.

c) Divine Speed (Isaiah 60:22)
God will hasten His word in your life.

d) Overflow Experience (Psalm 23:5)
God prepares a table of abundance in the presence of opposition.

Biblical Example: Joseph was lifted from prison to palace in a single day through divine intervention (Genesis 41:14, 41-43).

CONCLUSION

Supernatural breakthrough without struggle is possible when God steps into a man’s situation. This is not by human strength but by divine grace, obedience, and favour. As you enter this prophetic month, expect God to remove struggle, accelerate results, and release abundance in every area of your life.

This is your month of divine ease, supernatural favour, and unstoppable breakthroughs. Walk in faith, obey God’s instructions, and expect testimonies.

WATCH AND PRAY

WATCH AND PRAY

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Mark 14:32-38

Key Verse: “Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.” (Mark 14:38)

Supporting Texts: Matthew 26:36-41, Luke 22:39-46, 1 Peter 5:8, Ephesians 6:18, Romans 13:11

Description: This study reveals the necessity of spiritual alertness through prayer in overcoming temptation and maintaining victory.

INTRODUCTION

In Mark 14:32-38, Jesus took His disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane during one of the most critical moments of His earthly ministry. While He went aside to pray, He instructed His disciples to watch and pray, emphasising the importance of spiritual vigilance.

Despite this instruction, the disciples fell asleep, unable to stay alert in prayer. Jesus highlighted a key truth, the spirit may be willing, but the flesh is weak. This reveals the constant tension between spiritual desire and human limitation.

This passage teaches that spiritual alertness is not automatic; it must be cultivated through consistent prayer. Without watchfulness, believers become vulnerable to temptation, but through prayer, they receive strength to overcome.

1. SPIRITUAL ALERTNESS IS A COMMAND

Believers are called to remain vigilant at all times.

a) Jesus instructed them to watch (Mark 14:34)
Christ’s command to watch shows that spiritual alertness is a responsibility, not an option, for every believer who desires to stand firm.

b) Alertness guards against danger (1 Peter 5:8)
Being vigilant helps believers recognise and resist the schemes of the enemy before they take root.

c) Spiritual negligence leads to failure (Proverbs 24:33-34)
A lack of alertness results in vulnerability, allowing spiritual weakness to set in unnoticed.

d) Watchfulness requires discipline (Romans 13:11)
Believers must awaken from spiritual slumber and live with a sense of urgency.

Biblical Example:
Nehemiah’s watchfulness (Nehemiah 4:9) combined prayer with vigilance to protect the work of God.

2. PRAYER IS THE KEY TO SPIRITUAL STRENGTH

Prayer empowers believers to overcome weakness.

a) Jesus emphasised prayer (Mark 14:38)
He made it clear that prayer is essential to avoid falling into temptation and spiritual defeat.

b) Prayer strengthens the inner man (Ephesians 3:16)
Through prayer, believers receive divine strength that sustains them in difficult moments.

c) Prayer builds intimacy with God (Jeremiah 29:12-13)
Consistent prayer deepens our relationship with God and aligns us with His will.

d) Prayer activates divine help (Hebrews 4:16)
Approaching God in prayer grants access to mercy and grace in times of need.

Biblical Example:
Jesus in Gethsemane (Mark 14:35-36) demonstrates how prayer provides strength in times of distress.

3. THE FLESH IS WEAK WITHOUT DISCIPLINE

Human weakness must be overcome through spiritual practice.

a) The disciples slept (Mark 14:37)
Their inability to stay awake shows how easily the flesh can dominate without intentional effort.

b) The spirit is willing (Mark 14:38)
There is a desire to do right, but without discipline, that desire remains unfulfilled.

c) Discipline strengthens the believer (1 Corinthians 9:27)
Spiritual growth requires intentional control and training of the body.

d) Yielding to the Spirit brings victory (Galatians 5:16)
Walking in the Spirit helps overcome the desires of the flesh.

Biblical Example:
Paul’s disciplined life (1 Corinthians 9:26-27) shows how self-control leads to spiritual effectiveness.

4. WATCHFUL PRAYER PREVENTS TEMPTATION

Staying alert in prayer helps believers avoid spiritual pitfalls.

a) Temptation is inevitable (James 1:14-15)
Every believer faces temptation, making preparation essential.

b) Prayer provides escape (1 Corinthians 10:13)
God makes a way out of temptation, and prayer helps us discern and take it.

c) Watchfulness sharpens discernment (Hebrews 5:14)
Spiritual alertness enables believers to distinguish between good and evil.

d) Consistency ensures victory (Luke 18:1)
Persistent prayer keeps believers strong and prepared at all times.

Biblical Example:
Joseph resisting temptation (Genesis 39:7-9) shows alertness and commitment to righteousness.

CONCLUSION

The command to watch and pray is a call to spiritual responsibility. In a world full of distractions and temptations, believers must remain alert and committed to prayer in order to stand strong.

When we cultivate a lifestyle of watchfulness and prayer, we overcome weakness, resist temptation, and walk in consistent victory. Spiritual alertness is the key to a life that pleases God and fulfils His purpose.

2. Father, strengthen my prayer life in Jesus name

3. Lord, deliver me from spiritual slumber in Jesus name

THE ANOINTING AT BETHANY

THE ANOINTING AT BETHANY

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Mark 14:3-9

Key Verse: “She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.” (Mark 14:8)

Supporting Texts: John 12:1-8, Matthew 26:6-13, Psalm 96:8, Romans 12:1, Hebrews 13:15

Description: This study reveals the power and significance of extravagant worship expressed through love, sacrifice, and devotion to Christ.

INTRODUCTION

In Mark 14:3-9, we see a powerful act of worship that defied human logic and expectation. A woman came with an alabaster box of very costly ointment and poured it on Jesus’ head. What appeared wasteful to some was, in reality, an act of deep love and honour.

Those around her criticised the act, questioning why such a valuable resource was “wasted.” However, Jesus defended her, declaring that she had done a good work. Her worship stood out because it was sacrificial, intentional, and focused entirely on Christ.

This passage teaches that true worship is not measured by human standards but by the heart’s devotion to God. Extravagant worship is costly, but it brings pleasure to God and leaves a lasting impact.

1. EXTRAVAGANT WORSHIP IS BORN OUT OF LOVE

True worship flows from a heart that deeply loves God.

a) The woman acted out of love (Mark 14:3)
Her willingness to pour out such costly perfume reveals a deep affection and reverence for Jesus that went beyond mere obligation.

b) Love expresses itself freely (1 John 4:19)
When we understand God’s love for us, it compels us to respond with wholehearted devotion and worship.

c) Love prioritises God above all (Deuteronomy 6:5)
Loving God with all our being leads us to give Him our best without hesitation.

d) Love makes sacrifice meaningful (John 14:15)
Obedience and sacrifice become acts of joy when motivated by genuine love.

Biblical Example:
Mary sitting at Jesus’ feet (Luke 10:39) demonstrates a heart of love and devotion.

2. EXTRAVAGANT WORSHIP INVOLVES SACRIFICE

Worship that costs nothing lacks depth and impact.

a) The ointment was very costly (Mark 14:5)
The value of the perfume shows that her worship required significant personal sacrifice.

b) True worship costs something (2 Samuel 24:24)
David refused to offer God something that cost him nothing, highlighting the importance of sacrifice.

c) Sacrifice reflects honour (Psalm 96:8)
Bringing an offering to God shows reverence and recognition of His worth.

d) Sacrifice attracts God’s attention (Hebrews 13:16)
God is pleased with acts of giving and sacrifice done in faith.

Biblical Example:
Abraham offering Isaac (Genesis 22:9-12) shows ultimate sacrificial devotion to God.

3. EXTRAVAGANT WORSHIP MAY BE MISUNDERSTOOD

Not everyone will understand or appreciate deep devotion.

a) The woman was criticised (Mark 14:4-5)
Others saw her act as wasteful, showing that spiritual acts are often misunderstood by those who lack revelation.

b) People may judge outwardly (1 Samuel 16:7)
While people look at external appearances, God sees the heart and intention.

c) Do not be discouraged by criticism (Galatians 1:10)
Seeking to please God must take priority over seeking approval from people.

d) God defends true worshippers (Mark 14:6)
Jesus spoke in her defence, affirming that her act was good and acceptable.

Biblical Example:
David dancing before the Lord (2 Samuel 6:14-16) was criticised but accepted by God.

4. EXTRAVAGANT WORSHIP LEAVES A LASTING LEGACY

True worship creates an eternal impact.

a) Jesus honoured her act publicly (Mark 14:9)
He declared that her deed would be remembered wherever the Gospel is preached.

b) Worship creates a memorial before God (Acts 10:4)
Acts of devotion rise as a remembrance in God’s presence.

c) Impact goes beyond the moment (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
What is done for God carries eternal significance.

d) Legacy inspires others (Hebrews 12:1)
Acts of faith and worship encourage others to pursue God wholeheartedly.

Biblical Example:
The widow’s giving (Mark 12:41-44) remains a lasting testimony of sacrificial devotion.

CONCLUSION

The anointing at Bethany teaches us that true worship is costly, intentional, and deeply rooted in love. It is not about impressing people but about honouring God with all that we have.

SIGNS OF THE END TIMES

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Mark 13:1-37

Key Verse: “Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.” (Mark 13:33)

Supporting Texts: Matthew 24:3-14, Luke 21:25-36, 2 Timothy 3:1-5, 1 Thessalonians 5:2-6, Revelation 3:10-11

Description: This study reveals the signs preceding the end times and calls believers to live in constant watchfulness and readiness.

INTRODUCTION

In Mark 13, Jesus gave a prophetic discourse about the end times, responding to His disciples’ questions about future events. He spoke about wars, natural disasters, persecution, and deception, all pointing to the unfolding of the last days.

These signs are not meant to create fear but to awaken believers to spiritual alertness. Jesus emphasised that while the exact time is unknown, the signs will indicate that His return is near. Therefore, believers must remain vigilant and discerning.

This passage calls for a life of readiness. It is not enough to know the signs; we must prepare our hearts, remain faithful, and live in expectation of Christ’s return.

1. THE END TIMES ARE MARKED BY DECEPTION AND TURMOIL

Believers must be discerning in a time of confusion.

a) False prophets will arise (Mark 13:5-6)
Jesus warned that many would come in His name, deceiving many, making discernment essential in the last days.

b) Wars and conflicts will increase (Mark 13:7-8)
Global unrest and instability are signs of the times, reminding us that the world is moving towards fulfilment of prophecy.

c) Natural disasters will occur (Mark 13:8)
Earthquakes, famines, and other events signal the groaning of creation.

d) These are the beginning of sorrows (Mark 13:8)
These events are not the end but indicators that greater events are ahead.

Biblical Example:
The deception in the days of Noah (Genesis 6:5) shows how people ignored warning signs until judgement came.

2. PERSECUTION WILL TEST TRUE BELIEVERS

Faith will be challenged in the last days.

a) Believers will face opposition (Mark 13:9)
Followers of Christ will be delivered to authorities and face trials because of their faith.

b) The Gospel will still be preached (Mark 13:10)
Despite persecution, the message of Christ will spread to all nations.

c) The Holy Spirit will give utterance (Mark 13:11)
God will empower believers to speak boldly in times of persecution.

d) Endurance is required (Mark 13:13)
Those who endure to the end shall be saved, emphasising perseverance.

Biblical Example:
Stephen’s persecution (Acts 7:54-60) shows faithfulness even in the face of death.

3. WATCHFULNESS IS A COMMAND FOR EVERY BELIEVER

Believers must remain spiritually alert at all times.

a) Take heed and be vigilant (Mark 13:23)
Jesus instructed His followers to stay alert and aware of spiritual realities.

b) No one knows the exact time (Mark 13:32)
The uncertainty of the timing calls for constant readiness.

c) Watch and pray continually (Mark 13:33)
Prayer keeps believers connected to God and spiritually sensitive.

d) Avoid spiritual slumber (1 Thessalonians 5:6)
Believers must not become complacent but remain awake and sober.

Biblical Example:
The wise virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) remained prepared and were ready when the bridegroom came.

4. READINESS IS DEMONSTRATED THROUGH HOLY LIVING

Preparation for Christ’s return is shown in how we live.

a) Live in holiness (2 Peter 3:11-12)
The expectation of Christ’s return should inspire a life of purity and godliness.

b) Remain faithful in service (Mark 13:34-36)
Like servants awaiting their master, believers must be diligent in their responsibilities.

c) Avoid distractions of the world (Luke 21:34)
Worldly concerns can dull spiritual alertness if not carefully managed.

d) Stay committed to God’s Word (Colossians 3:16)
A life grounded in Scripture ensures readiness and stability.

Biblical Example:
Enoch walking with God (Genesis 5:24) demonstrates a life of readiness and intimacy with God.

CONCLUSION

The signs of the end times are clear indicators that we are living in a significant season. However, the focus is not on fear but on preparation. Jesus calls us to watch, pray, and remain faithful.

As believers, we must live with urgency and purpose. By staying alert, walking in holiness, and remaining committed to God, we will be ready for His return and receive the reward of eternal life.

THE WIDOW’S OFFERING

THE WIDOW’S OFFERING

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Mark 12:41-44

Key Verse: “For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.” (Mark 12:44)

Supporting Texts: 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, Luke 21:1-4, Proverbs 3:9-10, Malachi 3:10, Philippians 4:18-19

Description: This study reveals that God values sacrificial giving that comes from the heart more than the size of the gift.

INTRODUCTION

In Mark 12:41-44, Jesus observed people as they gave their offerings in the temple. Many rich individuals gave large amounts out of their abundance, but a poor widow came and gave two small coins, an amount considered insignificant by human standards.

However, Jesus called His disciples and highlighted her offering as the greatest. He explained that while others gave from their surplus, the widow gave all she had to live on. Her giving was not measured by quantity but by sacrifice and sincerity.

This passage challenges our understanding of giving. God is not impressed by the size of our offering but by the condition of our hearts. True giving is measured by love, trust, and willingness to sacrifice for God.

1. GOD LOOKS AT THE HEART, NOT THE AMOUNT

God evaluates giving based on the motive behind it.

a) Jesus observed how people gave (Mark 12:41)
Christ paid attention not just to what was given but how it was given, showing that the attitude of the heart matters more than the outward act.

b) Giving must come from sincerity (2 Corinthians 9:7)
God loves a cheerful giver, meaning that giving should be done willingly and joyfully, not out of obligation or pressure.

c) Motive determines value (Proverbs 16:2)
What may seem small externally can be great in God’s eyes if it is done with the right intention.

d) God rewards according to the heart (Matthew 6:4)
When giving is done in sincerity, God sees and rewards openly.

Biblical Example:
Abel’s offering (Genesis 4:4) was accepted because it was given with a right heart.

2. SACRIFICIAL GIVING PLEASES GOD

Giving that costs us something carries great spiritual significance.

a) The widow gave out of her need (Mark 12:44)
She did not give from abundance but from lack, demonstrating deep faith and commitment to God.

b) Sacrifice reflects trust in God (Psalm 20:7)
Giving sacrificially shows reliance on God as the ultimate provider.

c) True giving involves surrender (Romans 12:1)
Offering to God is an act of worship that requires yielding ourselves and our resources.

d) Sacrifice attracts divine attention (1 Kings 17:13-16)
The widow of Zarephath gave her last meal and experienced supernatural provision.

Biblical Example:
David refusing to offer what costs nothing (2 Samuel 24:24) shows the value of sacrificial giving.

3. GIVING DEMONSTRATES FAITH AND DEPENDENCE ON GOD

Our giving reveals what we trust in.

a) The widow trusted God for her future (Mark 12:44)
By giving all she had, she demonstrated confidence that God would sustain her.

b) Giving activates divine provision (Philippians 4:19)
God supplies all needs according to His riches, especially when we give in faith.

c) Faith releases blessings (Luke 6:38)
Giving opens the door for receiving, according to God’s principle of multiplication.

d) Dependence on God strengthens faith (Hebrews 11:6)
Trusting God through giving builds a deeper relationship with Him.

Biblical Example:
The boy who gave his lunch (John 6:9-13) shows how small offerings in faith can produce great miracles.

4. GOD HONOURS AND REWARDS SACRIFICIAL GIVING

God never overlooks genuine sacrifice.

a) Jesus publicly honoured the widow (Mark 12:43)
Her act was recognised and commended by Christ, showing that God notices even the smallest sacrifices.

b) God rewards faithfulness (Hebrews 6:10)
Every act of giving is remembered and rewarded by God.

c) Sacrificial giving leads to abundance (Proverbs 11:25)
Those who give generously will themselves be refreshed and blessed.

d) Giving produces eternal rewards (Matthew 6:20)
Investments in God’s Kingdom result in lasting treasures in heaven.

Biblical Example:
Cornelius’ giving (Acts 10:4) came up as a memorial before God, bringing divine visitation.

CONCLUSION

The widow’s offering teaches us that God values sacrifice, sincerity, and faith in our giving. It is not about how much we give, but how much it costs us and the heart behind it.

As believers, we are called to give in a way that honours God: willingly, sacrificially, and faithfully. When we do, God takes notice and responds with blessings, provision, and eternal rewards.

1. Lord, give me a heart of sincere and sacrificial giving in Jesus name

2. Father, remove every selfishness from my life in Jesus name

THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT

THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Mark 12:28-34

Key Verse: “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.” (Mark 12:30)

Supporting Texts: Deuteronomy 6:4-5, Matthew 22:36-40, 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, Romans 13:10, 1 John 4:7-8

Description: This study reveals that love for God and others is the foundation of true faith and the fulfilment of all commandments.

INTRODUCTION

In Mark 12:28-34, a scribe asked Jesus a profound question: “Which is the first commandment of all?” Among the many laws and teachings, he desired to know what truly mattered most. Jesus responded by pointing to love as the central principle of God’s Kingdom.

Jesus summarised the law into two essential commands, loving God completely and loving one’s neighbour as oneself. This response simplifies yet deepens our understanding of God’s expectations. It shows that true spirituality is not merely about rituals or rules but about a relationship rooted in love.

This passage calls believers to evaluate the foundation of their faith. Without love, religious activities lose their value. Love is the essence of God’s nature and the driving force behind a life that pleases Him.

1. LOVE FOR GOD IS THE FIRST PRIORITY

Our relationship with God must be rooted in total love and devotion.

a) Love God with all your heart (Mark 12:30)
Loving God with the heart involves deep affection, passion, and sincerity, where God becomes the centre of our desires and emotions.

b) Love God with all your soul (Deuteronomy 6:5)
This speaks of complete devotion, where our entire being is surrendered to God without reservation or divided loyalty.

c) Love God with all your mind (Romans 12:2)
Loving God intellectually means aligning our thoughts with His Word and rejecting worldly patterns that oppose His truth.

d) Love God with all your strength (Joshua 22:5)
This requires using our energy, resources, and abilities in service to God, demonstrating love through action.

Biblical Example:
David’s love for God (Psalm 63:1) shows a deep longing and wholehearted devotion.

2. LOVE FOR OTHERS IS THE PROOF OF TRUE FAITH

Our love for people reflects our relationship with God.

a) Love your neighbour as yourself (Mark 12:31)
This command calls for treating others with the same care, respect, and compassion we desire for ourselves.

b) Love fulfils the law (Romans 13:10)
When we walk in love, we naturally align with God’s commandments, avoiding harm to others.

c) Love demonstrates spiritual maturity (1 John 4:20)
One cannot claim to love God while hating others, as true faith expresses itself through love.

d) Love builds unity (Colossians 3:14)
Love binds believers together, creating harmony and strength in relationships.

Biblical Example:
The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:33-35) demonstrated practical love through compassionate action.

3. LOVE IS GREATER THAN RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES

Without love, all spiritual acts are meaningless.

a) Love gives value to service (1 Corinthians 13:1)
Even the most impressive acts of service or speech are empty without genuine love.

b) Love surpasses sacrifice (Mark 12:33)
The scribe acknowledged that loving God and others is more important than burnt offerings and sacrifices.

c) Love reflects God’s nature (1 John 4:8)
God is love, and living in love means reflecting His character.

d) Love is eternal (1 Corinthians 13:13)
While many things will pass away, love remains forever, making it the greatest virtue.

Biblical Example:
Mary and Martha (Luke 10:41-42) show that relationship with Jesus takes precedence over mere activity.

4. LOVE POSITIONS US CLOSE TO GOD’S KINGDOM

Walking in love brings us into deeper alignment with God.

a) Love brings spiritual understanding (Mark 12:34)
Jesus commended the scribe, saying he was not far from the Kingdom, showing that love leads to deeper revelation.

b) Love draws us closer to God (James 4:8)
A heart of love naturally seeks intimacy with God.

c) Love produces obedience (John 14:15)
When we truly love God, obedience becomes a natural response rather than a burden.

d) Love brings fulfilment (Galatians 5:14)
The entire law is fulfilled in loving others, bringing completeness to our walk with God.

Biblical Example:
John the beloved disciple (John 13:23) experienced closeness with Jesus through love.

CONCLUSION

The greatest commandment is a call to return to the foundation of our faith, love. Loving God completely and loving others sincerely summarises the essence of true Christianity.

As believers, we must evaluate our lives to ensure that love is at the centre of all we do. When we walk in love, we fulfil God’s will, grow spiritually, and reflect His nature to the world.
