CROSSING OVER INTO FAVOUR

Title: CROSSING OVER INTO FAVOUR

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Psalm 102:13
Supporting Texts: Esther 2:17, Genesis 39:21, Proverbs 3:4, Daniel 1:9

INTRODUCTION:
Favour is the supernatural hand of God that brings about divine preference, lifting, and access to opportunities. Crossing over into favour means entering a realm where God’s grace distinguishes you and opens doors that no man can shut. This sermon explores the principles and pathways to walk into God’s abundant favour.

1. UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPT OF DIVINE FAVOUR

a) Favour as an act of divine grace
Favour is not earned; it is God’s unmerited grace upon His people (Ephesians 2:8).

b) The purpose of favour
Favour positions you for divine assignments and breakthroughs, as seen in Esther’s life (Esther 2:17).

c) Favour attracts divine promotion
Proverbs 3:4 reveals that favour brings honour and elevation in life.

d) Favour brings restoration
In Exodus 3:21, God caused the Israelites to find favour, leading to the restoration of their possessions.

e) Biblical Example: Noah found favour in God’s eyes, which preserved his life and that of his family (Genesis 6:8).

2. KEYS TO CROSSING OVER INTO FAVOUR

a) Righteous living
Favour surrounds the righteous like a shield (Psalm 5:12). A life of holiness attracts God’s favour.

b) Seeking God's presence
Moses understood that God’s presence was the key to walking in favour (Exodus 33:14-17).

c) Obedience to divine instructions
Mary’s obedience led to her being favoured as the mother of Jesus (Luke 1:30-38).

d) Humility
James 4:6 says that God gives grace (favour) to the humble. Pride blocks favour.

e) Biblical Example: Joseph walked in integrity and obedience, and God gave him favour in prison and before Pharaoh (Genesis 39:21).

3. HINDRANCES TO DIVINE FAVOUR

a) Disobedience
Jonah’s initial disobedience hindered his access to favour until he repented (Jonah 1:1-17).

b) Sinful living
Sin separates you from God and blocks His favour (Isaiah 59:1-2).

c) Ungratefulness
Gratitude magnifies favour, but ungratefulness diminishes it (Luke 17:15-18).

d) Lack of faith
Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that without faith, it is impossible to please God and walk in favour.

e) Biblical Example: The Israelites' murmuring and rebellion delayed their access to God’s favour in the Promised Land (Numbers 14:26-30).

4. MANIFESTATIONS OF DIVINE FAVOUR

a) Access to open doors
Revelation 3:8 declares that God’s favour opens doors no man can shut.

b) Supernatural promotion
Favour lifted Daniel and his friends to high positions in Babylon (Daniel 1:9, 6:3).

c) Financial breakthroughs
Deuteronomy 8:18 shows that God gives the power to create wealth through His favour.

d) Deliverance from trouble
Psalm 34:19 demonstrates that divine favour delivers the righteous from all afflictions.

e) Biblical Example: Esther experienced divine favour, which saved her people from destruction (Esther 5:1-3).

5. PRINCIPLES FOR SUSTAINING DIVINE FAVOUR

a) Maintain a lifestyle of worship
Psalm 100:4 teaches us that entering God’s presence with praise sustains His favour.

b) Engage in sacrificial giving
Solomon’s extravagant offerings attracted God’s favour (1 Kings 3:3-13).

c) Keep a grateful heart
Thanksgiving sustains the flow of God’s blessings (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

d) Stay committed to God’s work
Matthew 6:33 reminds us that seeking first the kingdom ensures continued favour.

e) Biblical Example: David’s consistent devotion to God sustained him in favour throughout his life (1 Samuel 16:13).
