Title: TAKING OVER AND RECOVERING ALL
By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: 1 Samuel 30:8
Supporting Texts: Joel 2:25-27, Obadiah 1:17, Isaiah 61:7, Jeremiah 30:17
INTRODUCTION:
The phrase "taking over and recovering all" refers to reclaiming what the enemy has stolen and stepping into dominion and authority. God’s will is for His children to live in victory and abundance. Just as David pursued, overtook, and recovered all that the Amalekites had taken, we are empowered through Christ to recover all and establish dominion. This sermon outlines the steps to take over and recover all that has been lost.
1. UNDERSTANDING GOD'S PROMISES FOR RESTORATION
a) God's desire for restoration
God has promised to restore the years the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25-27).
b) Divine inheritance
Believers have an inheritance in Christ that cannot be stolen (Ephesians 1:11).
c) Restitution of all things
God’s restoration plan includes complete recovery (Acts 3:21).
d) Double for your trouble
Isaiah 61:7 assures us of double blessings for our shame.
e) Biblical Example: Job experienced a divine restoration, receiving twice as much as he lost (Job 42:10).
2. STEPS TO TAKE OVER AND RECOVER ALL
a) Seek divine direction
David inquired of the Lord and received guidance (1 Samuel 30:8).
b) Take bold action
Faith requires corresponding action; David pursued his enemies (1 Samuel 30:10).
c) Depend on divine strength
God empowers His people to overcome (Isaiah 40:29-31).
d) Employ spiritual warfare
To recover all, engage in prayer, fasting, and decrees (Matthew 11:12).
e) Biblical Example: The Israelites took over Canaan by following God’s instructions (Joshua 6:1-5).
3. HINDRANCES TO TAKING OVER AND RECOVERING ALL
a) Unbelief and fear
Fear paralyzes action, while faith activates victory (Numbers 13:31-33).
b) Lack of spiritual focus
Distractions lead to loss of momentum in spiritual warfare (Hebrews 12:2).
c) Disobedience
Sin and rebellion against God hinder restoration (Deuteronomy 28:15).
d) Failure to pursue
Passivity prevents recovery; believers must take proactive steps (James 2:17).
e) Biblical Example: The ten spies' unbelief hindered Israel’s entry into the Promised Land (Numbers 14:1-4).
4. BENEFITS OF TAKING OVER AND RECOVERING ALL
a) Restoration of lost blessings
God restores all that the enemy has stolen (Joel 2:25).
b) Total victory
Recovery ensures no loss; David recovered everything without fail (1 Samuel 30:19).
c) Supernatural restoration
God not only restores but multiplies what was lost (Zechariah 9:12).
d) Divine promotion
Taking over leads to elevation and dominion (Deuteronomy 28:13).
e) Biblical Example: Joseph experienced recovery and promotion after years of suffering (Genesis 41:39-41).
5. HOW TO SUSTAIN YOUR RECOVERY
a) Live a life of gratitude
Thanksgiving preserves blessings (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
b) Stay connected to God
Abiding in Christ ensures continued victory (John 15:4).
c) Guard your territory
Protect your blessings through prayer and vigilance (1 Peter 5:8).
d) Continue in faith and obedience
Faithfulness secures divine favour (Hebrews 10:23).
e) Biblical Example: Nehemiah rebuilt Jerusalem’s walls and guarded it to sustain restoration (Nehemiah 4:16-18).
CONCLUSION:
God’s plan is for His children to live in victory, reclaim lost blessings, and walk in dominion. By seeking His guidance, taking bold steps of faith, and engaging in spiritual warfare, you can take over and recover all. Refuse to allow fear or unbelief to hinder you, and remain steadfast in your walk with God.
