DIVINE PROVISION IN IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS

DIVINE PROVISION IN IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Matthew 14:13-21

Key Verse: “They need not depart; give ye them to eat.” (Matthew 14:16)

Supporting Texts: Philippians 4:19, Genesis 22:14, 2 Kings 4:1-7, Psalm 23:1, Ephesians 3:20

Description: This study reveals God’s power to provide abundantly in situations of lack, limitation, and impossibility, teaching believers to trust Him completely even when human resources appear insufficient.

INTRODUCTION

Matthew chapter 14 records the miraculous feeding of five thousand men besides women and children with only five loaves and two fishes. The disciples looked at the enormous crowd and saw impossibility, shortage, and limitation. However, Jesus saw an opportunity for divine provision and supernatural multiplication.

The miracle occurred in a desert place where natural resources were unavailable, making the situation humanly impossible. Yet, through compassion, faith, thanksgiving, and divine power, Jesus multiplied the little available until everyone was satisfied, and twelve baskets of fragments remained afterward.

This account reminds believers that God is not limited by human insufficiency, economic conditions, or visible circumstances. The Lord remains Jehovah Jireh: the God who sees, knows, and provides. When believers place their trust in Him, impossible situations can become testimonies of divine abundance.

1. GOD CARES ABOUT HUMAN NEEDS

The Lord is deeply concerned about the struggles and needs of His people.

a) Jesus was moved with compassion toward the multitude (Matthew 14:14)
Christ did not ignore the hunger, weakness, and condition of the people. His compassion reveals that God genuinely cares about the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of humanity.

b) God understands every area of lack and insufficiency (Matthew 6:31-32)
The Lord knows the needs of His children even before they ask. Nothing concerning the believer’s welfare escapes His attention or concern.

c) Divine provision flows from God’s loving nature (Psalm 145:15-16)
God delights in sustaining, preserving, and blessing His people according to His goodness and mercy.

d) Believers should never assume their situation is too difficult for God (Jeremiah 32:27)
Human impossibility does not limit divine ability. God specialises in situations where human strength and resources fail.

Biblical Example:
God provided manna daily for the children of Israel throughout their wilderness journey despite the barrenness of the desert (Exodus 16:11-15).

2. HUMAN LIMITATIONS CANNOT RESTRICT GOD’S POWER

God’s ability is greater than every visible limitation.

a) The disciples focused on the insufficiency of the available food (Matthew 14:17)
Human reasoning often magnifies problems while underestimating the power and provision of God.

b) God often begins with little in order to reveal His greatness (Zechariah 4:10)
The Lord delights in using small and seemingly insignificant things to accomplish extraordinary results.

c) What appears impossible to men remains possible with God (Luke 1:37)
Divine provision does not depend solely upon human calculations, resources, or economic conditions.

d) Faith must rise above visible circumstances (2 Corinthians 5:7)
Believers are called to trust God’s promises and power rather than becoming controlled by fear, doubt, or visible lack.

Biblical Example:
The widow’s small jar of oil was supernaturally multiplied until every vessel was filled, demonstrating God’s unlimited power over scarcity (2 Kings 4:1-7).

3. WHAT IS SURRENDERED TO GOD CAN BE MULTIPLIED

God blesses and increases what is willingly placed in His hands.

a) Jesus took the five loaves and two fishes and blessed them (Matthew 14:19)
The miracle began when the little available was surrendered completely into Christ’s hands. God often works through yielded resources and obedient hearts.

b) Thanksgiving releases faith and confidence in God’s provision (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Jesus gave thanks before the miracle became visible, teaching believers to trust and honour God even before answers fully manifest.

c) Obedience positions believers for divine intervention (Deuteronomy 28:1-2)
The disciples obeyed Jesus by distributing the food despite its apparent insufficiency, and through obedience they witnessed the miracle.

d) God can multiply talents, resources, opportunities, and efforts beyond natural expectation (Ephesians 3:20)
When surrendered to God, little becomes much through divine empowerment and blessing.

Biblical Example:
The widow of Zarephath obeyed Elijah’s instruction during famine, and God sustained her household supernaturally without lack (1 Kings 17:10-16).

4. GOD’S PROVISION IS ABUNDANT AND COMPLETE

The Lord provides sufficiently and generously for His people.

a) Everyone ate and was filled (Matthew 14:20)
God’s provision was not partial or barely enough. Christ met the needs of the multitude fully and completely.

b) Twelve baskets of fragments remained afterward (Matthew 14:20)
Divine provision exceeded immediate needs, revealing the abundance and generosity of God’s nature.

c) God’s supply strengthens faith and produces thanksgiving (2 Corinthians 9:8-11)
Miraculous provision reminds believers of God’s faithfulness and encourages deeper trust in Him.

d) Divine blessings are given not only for personal benefit but also to bless others (Genesis 12:2)
God blesses His people so they can become channels of blessing, encouragement, and support to others around them.

Biblical Example:
Solomon experienced extraordinary abundance and prosperity because God blessed him beyond natural expectation (1 Kings 3:12-13).

CONCLUSION

The feeding of the five thousand reveals that no situation is impossible for God. Where human limitation ended, divine provision began. Jesus demonstrated that the God who created the universe is fully able to provide for every need of His people.

Believers must learn to trust God beyond visible circumstances, surrender their little into His hands, and walk by faith rather than fear. The same God who multiplied the loaves and fishes still provides abundantly for His children today.

LOOKING UNTO JESUS IN THE STORM

LOOKING UNTO JESUS IN THE STORM

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Matthew 14:22-33

Key Verse: “But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” (Matthew 14:30)

Supporting Texts: Hebrews 12:2, Isaiah 26:3, Psalm 46:1-3, John 16:33, Philippians 4:6-7

Description: This study reveals the importance of maintaining faith and focus upon Jesus during life’s storms, trials, and uncertainties.

INTRODUCTION

Matthew chapter 14 records the dramatic event of Jesus walking upon the sea during a violent storm. The disciples were terrified as strong winds battered their boat in the middle of the night. In the midst of the storm, Jesus came walking toward them upon the water.

Peter boldly stepped out of the boat and began walking toward Jesus. However, when he shifted his focus from Christ to the raging wind and waves, fear overwhelmed him, and he began to sink. Immediately, Peter cried out for help, and Jesus stretched forth His hand to save him.

This account teaches believers a powerful lesson about faith during difficult seasons of life. Storms are unavoidable, but spiritual victory depends upon where believers place their focus. Those who keep their eyes fixed upon Jesus can walk through storms with confidence, peace, and victory.

1. STORMS ARE A REAL PART OF LIFE

Even faithful believers encounter difficulties, challenges, and seasons of testing.

a) The disciples entered the storm while obeying Jesus’ instruction (Matthew 14:22-24)
Following Christ does not exempt believers from hardships or opposition. Sometimes storms arise even when people are walking in obedience to God’s will.

b) Life’s storms often bring fear, uncertainty, and emotional pressure (Matthew 14:26)
Challenges such as sickness, financial struggles, delays, disappointments, persecution, and family problems can test spiritual stability and confidence.

c) Storms reveal the condition and maturity of faith (James 1:2-3)
Difficult situations often expose hidden fears, weaknesses, doubts, and areas where believers need deeper trust in God.

d) God remains present even when circumstances appear overwhelming (Psalm 46:1)
The Lord does not abandon His children during seasons of trouble. His presence remains constant through every storm and difficulty.

Biblical Example:
Job endured severe trials and painful losses, yet God sustained him through the storm and eventually restored him greatly (Job 1:13-22; Job 42:10).

2. JESUS COMES TO HIS PEOPLE IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM

Christ reveals His presence and power during difficult times.

a) Jesus walked toward the disciples upon the sea (Matthew 14:25)
The very situation that frightened the disciples was under the authority of Christ. The storm could not hinder His ability to reach and help them.

b) Jesus spoke words of peace and assurance to calm their fears (Matthew 14:27)
Christ understands human fear and anxiety, and His presence brings comfort, courage, and reassurance to troubled hearts.

c) God often reveals Himself more deeply during trials (Psalm 34:18)
Seasons of hardship can produce greater intimacy, dependence, and revelation of God’s faithfulness.

d) No storm is greater than the power and authority of Christ (Jeremiah 32:27)
Situations that appear impossible to men remain fully under God’s control and ability.

Biblical Example:
God appeared to Paul during a violent storm at sea and assured him of divine preservation despite the danger around him (Acts 27:22-25).

3. BELIEVERS MUST KEEP THEIR FOCUS UPON JESUS

Faith remains strong when attention stays fixed upon Christ.

a) Peter walked successfully while looking at Jesus (Matthew 14:29)
As long as Peter focused upon Christ rather than the storm, he experienced supernatural victory over natural limitations.

b) Peter began sinking when he focused on the wind and waves (Matthew 14:30)
Fear entered when circumstances became greater in his mind than the power of God. Focusing excessively on problems weakens faith and confidence.

c) Believers are called to look unto Jesus continually (Hebrews 12:2)
Christ must remain the centre of the believer’s attention, trust, hope, and confidence regardless of surrounding conditions.

d) God grants peace to those whose minds remain fixed upon Him (Isaiah 26:3)
Spiritual stability and peace come through trusting God rather than becoming controlled by fear and anxiety.

Biblical Example:
Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah overcame overwhelming opposition by fixing their attention upon God instead of the enemy army (2 Chronicles 20:12-22).

4. JESUS RESTORES THOSE WHO CRY OUT TO HIM

God’s mercy remains available for struggling believers.

a) Peter cried out immediately when he began to sink (Matthew 14:30)
Instead of allowing fear to completely destroy him, Peter turned quickly to Christ for help and deliverance.

b) Jesus immediately stretched forth His hand to save Peter (Matthew 14:31)
The Lord responds with mercy, compassion, and rescue when believers sincerely call upon Him in weakness and distress.

c) Temporary failure does not mean permanent defeat (Proverbs 24:16)
Believers may stumble during difficult seasons, but God’s grace enables them to rise again and continue forward.

d) Christ uses storms to strengthen and mature faith (Romans 8:28)
Even painful experiences can become tools through which God produces spiritual growth, humility, and deeper dependence upon Him.

Biblical Example:
Jonah cried unto God from the belly of the fish, and the Lord mercifully delivered and restored him (Jonah 2:1-10).

CONCLUSION

Looking unto Jesus in the storm is essential for victorious Christian living. Storms may arise unexpectedly, but believers must remember that Christ remains present, powerful, and faithful in every situation.

Peter’s experience demonstrates that faith weakens when focus shifts from Jesus to surrounding problems. However, it also reveals Christ’s mercy toward those who cry out to Him sincerely.

Believers who keep their eyes fixed upon Jesus will find peace in the midst of storms, strength during trials, and victory over fear and impossibility.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, help me to keep my eyes fixed upon You in every storm of life in Jesus name

2. Father, remove every spirit of fear, anxiety, and discouragement from my heart in Jesus name

3. Lord, strengthen my faith during seasons of difficulty and uncertainty in Jesus name

4. Father, help me to trust Your power above every visible circumstance in Jesus name

5. Lord, speak peace into every storm surrounding my life and family in Jesus name

6. Father, let Your presence strengthen and sustain me continually in Jesus name

7. Lord, rescue me from every sinking situation and impossible condition in Jesus name

8. Father, use every trial to deepen my faith and spiritual maturity in Jesus name

9. Lord, help me never to lose confidence in Your faithfulness in Jesus name

10. Father, let my life continually testify of Your power, mercy, and deliverance in Jesus name

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS

1. Every storm threatening your peace and stability shall bow before the power of Jesus Christ!

2. Fear, anxiety, and discouragement shall not overcome your faith!

3. The Lord shall uphold and strengthen you through every season of trial!

4. You shall walk victoriously above every wave of opposition and limitation!

5. God’s peace shall guard your heart and mind continually!

6. Every impossible situation confronting your destiny shall receive divine intervention!

7. The hand of the Lord shall rescue and preserve you from every sinking situation!

8. Your faith shall grow stronger and more mature through every challenge!

9. You shall continually experience the presence, power, and faithfulness of God!

10. Your life shall become a testimony of victory, deliverance, and supernatural preservation in Christ Jesus!

THE POWER OF COMPASSION

THE POWER OF COMPASSION

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Matthew 14:13-21

Key Verse: “And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.” (Matthew 14:14)

Supporting Texts: Colossians 3:12, Luke 10:30-37, Psalm 145:8-9, Ephesians 4:32, Hebrews 4:15-16

Description: This study reveals the compassionate nature of Jesus Christ and teaches believers the importance of showing mercy, kindness, and practical love toward others.

INTRODUCTION

Matthew chapter 14 records the miracle of Jesus feeding the five thousand. Before performing the miracle, the Bible states that Jesus was “moved with compassion” toward the multitude and healed their sick. Although Jesus had withdrawn to a desert place after hearing about the death of John the Baptist, He did not ignore the needs of the people who followed Him.

Compassion is more than feeling sympathy for others; it is love expressed through action. The compassion of Jesus moved Him to heal the sick, feed the hungry, comfort the brokenhearted, and minister hope to the needy. Throughout Scripture, compassion consistently reveals the heart and character of God.

In a world filled with selfishness, cruelty, and indifference, believers are called to reflect the compassion of Christ. Genuine Christianity is not only about spiritual knowledge but also about demonstrating God’s love practically to people around us.

1. COMPASSION REFLECTS THE HEART OF GOD

God’s nature is full of mercy, kindness, and loving concern for humanity.

a) Jesus was moved with compassion when He saw the multitude (Matthew 14:14)
Christ did not look at people with indifference or annoyance, but with deep love and concern. His response revealed God’s tender care toward those who are hurting, weak, and needy.

b) God’s compassion reaches all areas of human need (Psalm 145:8-9)
The Lord is compassionate toward people emotionally, spiritually, physically, and materially. His mercy extends to every aspect of life and human suffering.

c) Compassion reveals spiritual maturity and godly character (Colossians 3:12)
A believer growing in Christ will increasingly demonstrate kindness, patience, mercy, and understanding toward others rather than harshness and selfishness.

d) God expects believers to reflect His love to the world (John 13:35)
Compassionate living becomes a testimony that reveals Christ to others and draws people closer to God.

Biblical Example:
The father of the prodigal son demonstrated compassion by welcoming his repentant son with love, forgiveness, and restoration (Luke 15:20-24).

2. TRUE COMPASSION PRODUCES ACTION

Biblical compassion goes beyond words and feelings.

a) Jesus healed the sick because of compassion (Matthew 14:14)
Christ’s compassion was practical and active. He responded to suffering by bringing healing, restoration, and help to those in need.

b) Compassion motivates believers to help others sacrificially (1 John 3:17-18)
Genuine love is demonstrated through actions, generosity, encouragement, and service rather than empty words alone.

c) Compassion requires sensitivity to the needs of people (Philippians 2:4)
Self-centeredness blinds people to the struggles of others, but compassionate hearts become attentive and responsive to human pain and hardship.

d) God blesses those who show mercy to others (Matthew 5:7)
Compassionate people often become channels through which God’s grace, favour, and blessings flow to others.

Biblical Example:
The Good Samaritan interrupted his journey to care for an injured stranger when others ignored him, demonstrating practical compassion and mercy (Luke 10:33-35).

3. COMPASSION OPENS THE DOOR FOR MIRACLES AND TRANSFORMATION

God often moves powerfully where compassion is present.

a) Compassion prepared the atmosphere for the miracle of multiplication (Matthew 14:15-21)
Jesus’ concern for the hungry multitude led to one of the greatest miracles recorded in Scripture. Compassion often becomes the pathway through which God’s power is revealed.

b) Loving people sincerely can transform lives deeply (Romans 12:20-21)
Acts of kindness and mercy can soften hardened hearts and bring healing, hope, and restoration to broken lives.

c) Compassion strengthens unity and peace among believers (Ephesians 4:31-32)
A compassionate spirit reduces bitterness, division, and conflict within families, churches, and communities.

d) God uses compassionate believers as instruments of His grace (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
Those who comfort and support others often become vessels through which God ministers encouragement and healing.

Biblical Example:
Jesus raised the widow’s son at Nain because He was moved with compassion for the grieving mother (Luke 7:11-15).

4. BELIEVERS MUST GUARD AGAINST HARDNESS OF HEART

A hardened heart prevents compassion and godly love from flowing freely.

a) Constant exposure to suffering can produce indifference if the heart is not guarded (Matthew 24:12)
In a sinful world, people can gradually become emotionally cold and spiritually insensitive to the pain of others.

b) Pride and selfishness weaken compassion (Philippians 2:3-4)
When people focus only on themselves, they lose sensitivity to the struggles and needs around them.

c) Fellowship with God softens the heart toward others (Ezekiel 36:26)
The Holy Spirit produces tenderness, mercy, and genuine love within yielded believers.

d) Compassion must be practised intentionally and consistently (Galatians 6:9-10)
Believers should continually seek opportunities to show kindness, forgiveness, generosity, and encouragement to others.

Biblical Example:
The priest and Levite ignored the wounded traveller because their hearts lacked compassion, despite their religious appearance (Luke 10:31-32).

CONCLUSION

The power of compassion is clearly revealed through the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. His compassion brought healing, provision, comfort, restoration, and miracles to countless people.

Believers are called to reflect the same heart of mercy and love toward others. Compassion is not weakness; it is the expression of God’s nature working through His people. When Christians live compassionately, they become instruments through which God touches hurting lives and reveals His glory to the world.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, fill my heart with genuine compassion and love for others in Jesus name

2. Father, remove every spirit of hardness, selfishness, and indifference from my life in Jesus name

3. Lord, help me to reflect Your mercy and kindness daily in Jesus name

4. Father, make me sensitive to the needs and struggles of people around me in Jesus name

5. Lord, use my life as a channel of healing, encouragement, and blessing in Jesus name

6. Father, help me to show practical love through my words and actions in Jesus name

7. Lord, let compassion guide my decisions and relationships in Jesus name

8. Father, strengthen unity, peace, and love within Your Church in Jesus name

9. Lord, help me never to ignore opportunities to help others in Jesus name

10. Father, let my life continually reveal the compassionate nature of Christ in Jesus name

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS

1. Your heart shall overflow continually with the compassion and love of Christ!

2. Every spirit of hardness, bitterness, and selfishness is broken over your life!

3. God shall use you as an instrument of healing, encouragement, and restoration!

4. Your life shall become a channel of blessing to many people!

5. The compassion of God shall bring peace and unity into your relationships!

6. Every opportunity assigned for your elevation through acts of kindness shall not pass you by!

7. The Holy Spirit shall increase your sensitivity to the needs of others!

8. Your acts of compassion shall attract divine favour and reward!

9. God shall strengthen you to reflect Christ’s character daily!

10. Through your life, many people shall experience the love, mercy, and goodness of God!

STEPPING OUT OF THE BOAT BY FAITH

STEPPING OUT OF THE BOAT BY FAITH

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Matthew 14:22-33

Key Verse: “And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come…” (Matthew 14:28-29)

Supporting Texts: Hebrews 11:1, 2 Corinthians 5:7, Isaiah 41:10, Joshua 1:9, Mark 9:23

Description: This study reveals the importance of courageous faith, complete trust in Christ, and obedience to God’s voice even in uncertain and difficult circumstances.

INTRODUCTION

Matthew chapter 14 records the remarkable moment when Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water toward Jesus during a violent storm. While the other disciples remained inside the boat, Peter responded boldly to the invitation of Christ and experienced the supernatural.

This account teaches believers that faith often requires leaving places of comfort, security, and familiarity in order to obey God. Although Peter later became distracted by the storm and began to sink, his experience demonstrates both the possibilities and challenges of walking by faith.

Many believers desire miracles, breakthroughs, and deeper spiritual experiences, yet hesitate when God calls them to trust Him beyond their comfort zone. Genuine faith requires courage, obedience, focus, and complete dependence upon Christ.

1. FAITH RESPONDS TO THE VOICE OF JESUS

True faith is built upon confidence in God’s Word and instruction.

a) Peter desired confirmation from Jesus before stepping out (Matthew 14:28)
Peter did not act recklessly or presumptuously; he responded specifically to the voice and command of Christ. Genuine biblical faith is rooted in hearing and obeying God’s direction.

b) Jesus gave Peter a simple but powerful instruction: “Come” (Matthew 14:29)
One word from Christ carries authority, power, and assurance. When God speaks, His instruction contains the grace needed for obedience and victory.

c) Faith comes through hearing God’s Word (Romans 10:17)
Spiritual confidence grows when believers spend time in Scripture, prayer, and fellowship with God. The more believers hear God clearly, the stronger their faith becomes.

d) Obedience to God often requires immediate response (James 1:22)
Delayed obedience can weaken faith and increase fear. Those who act upon God’s instruction position themselves for divine encounters and miracles.

Biblical Example:
Abraham obeyed God’s instruction to leave his homeland without fully knowing where he was going, and through faith he entered God’s covenant promises (Hebrews 11:8).

2. STEPPING OUT OF THE BOAT REQUIRES COURAGE

Faith often demands leaving comfort, security, and familiarity behind.

a) Peter stepped out of the safety of the boat during a storm (Matthew 14:29)
Humanly speaking, remaining inside the boat appeared safer and more reasonable. Yet Peter chose to trust Christ above visible danger and uncertainty.

b) Fear often tries to prevent believers from obeying God (2 Timothy 1:7)
The enemy uses intimidation, doubt, and uncertainty to discourage believers from pursuing God’s purpose and promises.

c) Great victories often require bold steps of faith (Joshua 1:9)
Spiritual growth rarely happens within the boundaries of comfort and convenience. Courageous obedience opens the door to greater experiences with God.

d) God strengthens those who trust Him completely (Isaiah 41:10)
Believers are never alone when stepping out in faith. God’s presence sustains, strengthens, and upholds those who depend upon Him.

Biblical Example:
David courageously confronted Goliath while others trembled in fear because he trusted God’s power above human limitations (1 Samuel 17:32-37).

3. FAITH FAILS WHEN FOCUS SHIFTS FROM JESUS TO CIRCUMSTANCES

Spiritual stability depends upon keeping one’s attention fixed upon Christ.

a) Peter walked successfully while focused on Jesus (Matthew 14:29)
As long as his attention remained on Christ, Peter experienced supernatural victory over natural laws and fearful circumstances.

b) Peter became afraid when he noticed the wind and waves (Matthew 14:30)
Fear entered when Peter shifted his focus from God’s power to the surrounding storm. Doubt grows when believers become overwhelmed by problems instead of trusting Christ.

c) Negative circumstances can weaken faith if not handled spiritually (Hebrews 12:2)
Believers must continually fix their eyes upon Jesus rather than becoming consumed by fear, opposition, or visible challenges.

d) Worry and fear can cause spiritual instability (James 1:6-8)
A divided and doubtful mind struggles to remain steady in faith during difficult situations.

Biblical Example:
The Israelites became fearful when they focused on the giants in Canaan rather than God’s promise, causing an entire generation to miss their inheritance (Numbers 13:31-33).

4. JESUS RESTORES THOSE WHO STUMBLE IN FAITH

God’s mercy remains available even when believers struggle.

a) Peter began to sink and cried out to Jesus for help (Matthew 14:30)
Though Peter faltered, he wisely turned immediately to Christ instead of surrendering completely to fear and failure.

b) Jesus immediately stretched forth His hand and rescued Peter (Matthew 14:31)
The Lord responds with mercy and compassion toward sincere believers who call upon Him in weakness and distress.

c) Christ helps believers grow through their failures (Proverbs 24:16)
Temporary setbacks do not have to become permanent defeat. God can use failures to produce maturity, humility, and stronger faith.

d) God’s grace strengthens weak and struggling believers (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Divine grace empowers believers to rise again, continue trusting God, and walk victoriously despite previous mistakes.

Biblical Example:
After denying Jesus three times, Peter was restored by Christ and later became a bold and powerful leader in the early Church (John 21:15-17).

CONCLUSION

Stepping out of the boat by faith requires courage, obedience, and complete trust in Jesus Christ. Peter’s experience demonstrates both the possibilities of faith and the dangers of losing focus during life’s storms.

Believers must learn to respond to God’s voice, move beyond fear and comfort zones, and keep their eyes fixed upon Christ regardless of surrounding circumstances. Even when faith becomes weak, God’s mercy remains available to restore and strengthen His people.

Those who trust Jesus wholeheartedly will experience supernatural victory, spiritual growth, and deeper encounters with God.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, strengthen my faith to obey You without fear in Jesus name

2. Father, help me to trust Your voice above every circumstance in Jesus name

3. Lord, give me courage to step beyond my comfort zone in Jesus name

4. Father, remove every spirit of doubt, fear, and discouragement from my heart in Jesus name

5. Lord, help me to keep my eyes fixed continually upon You in Jesus name

6. Father, uphold me during every storm and challenge of life in Jesus name

7. Lord, restore and strengthen every weak area of my faith in Jesus name

8. Father, let my life experience supernatural victory through faith in Jesus name

9. Lord, teach me to depend completely upon Your grace and power in Jesus name

10. Father, make me bold, steadfast, and victorious in my walk with You in Jesus name

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS

1. Every fear preventing you from obeying God shall be broken today!

2. Your faith shall rise above every storm and opposition!

3. God shall strengthen you to step boldly into your divine purpose!

4. Every spirit of doubt and discouragement is destroyed over your life!

5. The Lord shall uphold and preserve you through every challenge!

6. You shall walk in supernatural victory and divine confidence!

7. Every area of weakness in your spiritual life shall receive fresh strength!

8. God shall open new doors and opportunities as you walk by faith!

9. Your focus shall remain fixed upon Christ regardless of circumstances!

10. You shall continually experience the power, presence, and faithfulness of God in your journey of faith!

JESUS WALKS ON WATER

JESUS WALKS ON WATER

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Matthew 14:22-33

Key Verse: “But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” (Matthew 14:27)

Supporting Texts: Mark 6:45-52, John 6:16-21, Isaiah 43:2, Psalm 77:19, Hebrews 12:2

Description: This study reveals Christ’s authority over every storm, the importance of faith during difficult times, and the power of keeping one’s focus upon Jesus.

INTRODUCTION

After feeding the five thousand, Jesus instructed His disciples to cross over to the other side while He went into the mountain to pray. During the night, a strong storm arose, and the disciples struggled against the wind and waves. In the midst of their fear and exhaustion, Jesus came walking upon the sea.

The disciples were terrified, thinking they had seen a spirit, but Jesus immediately spoke words of comfort and assurance. Peter responded with faith and stepped out of the boat to walk toward Jesus on the water. However, when he shifted his attention from Christ to the storm, fear overcame him, and he began to sink.

This powerful account teaches believers that Jesus possesses authority over every storm of life. It also reveals that faith grows stronger when believers keep their eyes fixed upon Christ rather than circumstances.

1. STORMS OF LIFE ARE REAL BUT GOD REMAINS PRESENT

Believers may face difficulties, but they are never abandoned by God.

a) The disciples encountered a violent storm while obeying Jesus (Matthew 14:22-24)
Following God does not mean believers will never face trials or opposition. Even obedient Christians may encounter storms, delays, and difficult situations in life.

b) The storm created fear and uncertainty among the disciples (Matthew 14:26)
Human challenges often produce anxiety, confusion, and emotional pressure. Difficult circumstances can test faith and reveal spiritual weaknesses.

c) Jesus came to His disciples in the midst of the storm (Matthew 14:25)
The Lord does not abandon His people during hardship. He draws near in moments of fear, pain, and uncertainty to strengthen and sustain them.

d) God promises to remain with His people through every trial (Isaiah 43:2)
No storm is powerful enough to separate believers from God’s presence, protection, and care.

Biblical Example:
Paul faced a dangerous storm at sea, yet God preserved him and everyone aboard because of divine purpose and protection (Acts 27:20-25).

2. JESUS HAS AUTHORITY OVER EVERY IMPOSSIBILITY

Christ rules over nature, circumstances, and every human limitation.

a) Jesus walked upon the water effortlessly (Matthew 14:25)
What is impossible for men is completely under the authority and control of Christ. The storm and sea obeyed His power.

b) God’s power is greater than natural laws and human limitations (Jeremiah 32:27)
No situation is too difficult, complicated, or hopeless for God to handle.

c) Jesus revealed His divine nature through this miracle (Matthew 14:33)
The disciples recognised Christ’s authority and worshipped Him as the Son of God.

d) Believers must trust God above visible circumstances (2 Corinthians 5:7)
Faith requires confidence in God’s power even when situations appear impossible.

Biblical Example:
The Red Sea parted before Moses and the Israelites because God demonstrated His authority over nature and impossibility (Exodus 14:21-22).

3. FAITH GROWS WHEN BELIEVERS FOCUS ON JESUS

Spiritual stability comes from fixing attention upon Christ.

a) Peter stepped out of the boat in response to Jesus’ word (Matthew 14:28-29)
Genuine faith responds courageously to God’s instruction even when circumstances appear dangerous or uncertain.

b) Peter walked successfully while focused on Jesus (Matthew 14:29)
As long as his attention remained on Christ, he experienced supernatural victory over natural limitations.

c) Fear entered when Peter focused on the wind and waves (Matthew 14:30)
Doubt and discouragement often grow when believers become overwhelmed by problems instead of trusting God’s promises.

d) Jesus immediately reached out to save Peter (Matthew 14:31)
Even when believers struggle in faith, Christ remains merciful and ready to restore those who call upon Him sincerely.

Biblical Example:
David defeated Goliath because he focused on God’s power rather than the size of the giant before him (1 Samuel 17:45-47).

4. STORMS CAN LEAD TO GREATER REVELATION OF CHRIST

Trials often deepen spiritual understanding and worship.

a) The disciples worshipped Jesus after the miracle (Matthew 14:33)
Their experience in the storm revealed Christ’s greatness more deeply than before.

b) Difficult seasons often strengthen faith and dependence upon God (James 1:2-4)
Trials can mature believers spiritually and deepen trust in God.

c) God uses challenges to reveal His power and faithfulness (Romans 8:28)
Even painful situations can produce spiritual growth and testimony.

d) Every storm has the potential to bring believers closer to God (Psalm 46:1)
Hardship often drives believers into deeper prayer, worship, and intimacy with Christ.

Biblical Example:
Job endured severe trials, yet through them he gained deeper revelation and understanding of God’s greatness (Job 42:5).

CONCLUSION

The account of Jesus walking on water reveals His authority over every storm, challenge, and impossibility. Though the disciples faced fear and uncertainty, Christ came to them with power, peace, and assurance.

Peter’s experience teaches believers the importance of keeping their focus upon Jesus rather than circumstances. Faith grows stronger when believers trust God above visible problems and rely fully upon His power.

No storm is greater than Christ. Those who fix their eyes upon Him shall overcome fear, walk in victory, and experience deeper revelation of God’s power and presence.

FEEDING THE FIVE THOUSAND

FEEDING THE FIVE THOUSAND

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Matthew 14:13-21

Key Verse: “And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.” (Matthew 14:20)

Supporting Texts: John 6:1-14, Mark 6:34-44, Philippians 4:19, Psalm 23:1, Ephesians 3:20

Description: This study reveals the compassion, provision, and miraculous power of Jesus Christ, showing believers that God is able to multiply limited resources to meet great needs.

INTRODUCTION

Matthew chapter 14 records one of the most remarkable miracles performed by Jesus: the feeding of five thousand men besides women and children with only five loaves and two fishes. This miracle took place after Jesus withdrew to a desert place following the news of John the Baptist’s death. Yet, despite His grief and need for solitude, Jesus was moved with compassion toward the multitudes who followed Him.

The disciples saw insufficiency, limitation, and impossibility, but Jesus saw an opportunity for divine provision and supernatural multiplication. What appeared too small in human eyes became more than enough in the hands of Christ.

This miracle teaches believers that God is compassionate, able to provide abundantly, and capable of using small and surrendered resources to accomplish great things. It also reminds Christians to trust God even when circumstances appear impossible.

1. JESUS IS MOVED BY COMPASSION FOR HUMAN NEEDS

God deeply cares about the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people.

a) Jesus was moved with compassion toward the multitude (Matthew 14:14)
Even while grieving the death of John the Baptist, Jesus did not ignore the suffering and needs of the people. His compassion revealed the loving and merciful heart of God toward humanity.

b) Christ ministered healing to the sick among them (Matthew 14:14)
Jesus demonstrated that God is concerned not only about spiritual matters but also about physical pain, sickness, and human suffering. His ministry brought restoration and relief to those in distress.

c) God cares about every area of human need (Philippians 4:19)
The Lord understands the challenges, burdens, and limitations His people face. He remains both willing and able to supply according to His riches and power.

d) Believers are called to reflect Christ’s compassion toward others (Colossians 3:12)
Christians should not become indifferent to the struggles of people around them. A godly life reflects mercy, kindness, generosity, and concern for others.

Biblical Example:
The Good Samaritan showed compassion to the wounded traveller when others ignored him, demonstrating practical love and mercy (Luke 10:30-37).

2. HUMAN LIMITATION IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR GOD’S POWER

What seems insufficient to man is not impossible for God.

a) The disciples focused on their lack and limitations (Matthew 14:15-17)
They saw only five loaves and two fishes compared to the enormous crowd. Human reasoning often magnifies problems while overlooking God’s unlimited power.

b) God specialises in using little things to accomplish great results (Zechariah 4:10)
The Lord often begins with what appears small, weak, or insignificant in order to reveal His greatness and glory.

c) Faith looks beyond present limitations to God’s ability (Mark 9:23)
When believers trust God sincerely, impossible situations become opportunities for divine intervention and miracles.

d) God’s power is perfected in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Human insufficiency creates room for God’s supernatural strength and provision to be revealed openly.

Biblical Example:
Moses believed his rod was ordinary, but in God’s hands it became an instrument for miracles, deliverance, and divine authority (Exodus 4:1-5).

3. WHAT IS SURRENDERED TO JESUS CAN BE MULTIPLIED

God blesses and increases what is willingly placed in His hands.

a) Jesus took the loaves and fishes and blessed them (Matthew 14:19)
The miracle began when the little available was surrendered completely to Christ. God often works through yielded and available resources.

b) Obedience and surrender release divine increase (Luke 5:4-6)
When believers obey God despite uncertainty, they position themselves for supernatural provision and breakthrough.

c) God can multiply resources beyond natural expectation (Ephesians 3:20)
The Lord is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what human understanding can imagine.

d) Gratitude and thanksgiving invite God’s blessing (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Jesus gave thanks before the multiplication occurred, teaching believers to trust and thank God even before seeing the answer fully manifested.

Biblical Example:
The widow of Zarephath surrendered her final meal to Elijah, and God supernaturally sustained her household throughout the famine (1 Kings 17:10-16).

4. GOD’S PROVISION IS ABUNDANT AND WITHOUT LACK

God does not merely provide barely enough; He provides abundantly.

a) Everyone ate and was satisfied (Matthew 14:20)
Jesus met the needs of the entire crowd fully, showing that God’s provision is sufficient for every situation and every person.

b) Twelve baskets of fragments remained afterward (Matthew 14:20)
God’s supply exceeded the immediate need, demonstrating His abundance and generosity.

c) The Lord is the believer’s shepherd and provider (Psalm 23:1)
Those who trust in God can rest confidently in His faithful care and provision.

d) God’s provision strengthens faith and produces thanksgiving (2 Corinthians 9:8-11)
Divine blessings are given not only for personal satisfaction but also to glorify God and bless others.

Biblical Example:
God provided manna daily for the children of Israel throughout their wilderness journey, proving His continual faithfulness and care (Exodus 16:11-18).

CONCLUSION

The feeding of the five thousand reveals the compassion, power, and abundant provision of Jesus Christ. While the disciples focused on insufficiency, Jesus demonstrated that no need is beyond God’s ability to supply.

Believers must learn to surrender their little into God’s hands, trust His power above human limitation, and walk in faith even when circumstances appear impossible. The same God who multiplied the loaves and fishes still provides, sustains, and performs miracles today.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, help me to trust You fully as my provider in Jesus name

2. Father, let every limitation in my life become an opportunity for Your power in Jesus name

3. Lord, increase my faith in Your ability to supply all my needs in Jesus name

4. Father, teach me to surrender everything completely into Your hands in Jesus name

5. Lord, release supernatural provision and abundance into my life in Jesus name

6. Father, remove every spirit of fear, doubt, and anxiety concerning my needs in Jesus name

7. Lord, fill my heart with gratitude and thanksgiving continually in Jesus name

8. Father, use my life and resources for the blessing of others in Jesus name

9. Lord, let Your miraculous power manifest in every impossible situation around me in Jesus name

10. Father, let my life become a testimony of Your faithfulness and provision in Jesus name

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS

1. Every form of insufficiency and lack in your life shall be turned into abundance!

2. God shall multiply every resource and opportunity placed in your hands!

3. Every impossible situation confronting you shall receive divine intervention!

4. The compassion and favour of God shall continually speak over your life!

5. You shall never be stranded or abandoned in times of need!

6. The Lord shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory!

7. Every spirit of fear, worry, and limitation is broken over your destiny!

8. God shall use your life as a channel of blessing and provision to others!

9. Your faith shall grow stronger through every testimony of divine provision!

10. You shall continually experience supernatural abundance, increase, and thanksgiving in Jesus’ name!

THE TRAGEDY OF HEROD’S COMPROMISE

THE TRAGEDY OF HEROD’S COMPROMISE

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Matthew 14:1-12

Key Verse: “And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.” (Matthew 14:9)

Supporting Texts: Mark 6:14-29, Proverbs 29:25, Galatians 1:10, James 1:14-15, Proverbs 14:12

Description: This study reveals the danger of compromise, ungodly relationships, pride, and fear of man through the tragic account of Herod and the death of John the Baptist.

INTRODUCTION

Matthew chapter 14 records one of the saddest events in the New Testament: the imprisonment and execution of John the Baptist under King Herod. John boldly confronted Herod concerning his sinful relationship with Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip. Instead of repenting, Herod allowed pride, lust, fear, and human pressure to control his decisions.

Although Herod recognised that John was a righteous and holy man, he lacked the courage to stand for truth completely. His compromise eventually led to a tragic and irreversible outcome. The account demonstrates how unchecked sin, immoral associations, and the desire to please people can destroy spiritual sensitivity and lead to terrible consequences.

This passage serves as a warning for believers to stand firmly for righteousness, avoid compromise, and fear God above human opinion.

1. COMPROMISE BEGINS WHEN PEOPLE IGNORE GOD’S STANDARD

Spiritual downfall often starts with small acts of disobedience and moral compromise.

a) Herod entered an unlawful relationship with Herodias (Matthew 14:3-4)
Instead of honouring God’s law concerning marriage and purity, Herod allowed personal desire and lust to control his decisions. What began as immoral compromise gradually opened the door to greater spiritual darkness and destruction in his life.

b) John the Baptist boldly confronted Herod’s sin (Matthew 14:4)
John refused to dilute the truth for the sake of favour or safety. He courageously declared God’s standard despite knowing the danger involved, demonstrating the importance of standing firmly for righteousness regardless of opposition.

c) Sin becomes more dangerous when it is defended rather than repented of (Proverbs 28:13)
Herod had opportunities to repent, but instead of humbling himself before God, he protected his sinful lifestyle. Unconfessed sin hardens the heart and weakens spiritual conviction over time.

d) Small compromises eventually lead to greater bondage and destruction (James 1:14-15)
What may appear harmless at first can gradually gain control over a person’s life. Sin grows when it is tolerated, eventually producing shame, regret, and devastating consequences.

Biblical Example:
Samson gradually compromised his consecration and spiritual discipline until he eventually lost his strength, vision, and liberty (Judges 16:16-21).

2. THE FEAR OF MAN CAN LEAD TO DISASTROUS DECISIONS

People who prioritise human approval above God’s will often fall into serious error.

a) Herod feared public opinion more than he feared God (Matthew 14:5)
Although Herod knew John was righteous, he was more concerned about maintaining his public image and avoiding conflict with the people. Fear of man weakened his ability to make godly decisions.

b) Herod allowed pressure from others to control his actions (Matthew 14:8-9)
Instead of acting with wisdom and courage, Herod surrendered to emotional pressure and manipulation during the banquet. Decisions influenced by human pressure often lead to regret and sorrow.

c) Seeking to please people can cause spiritual compromise (Galatians 1:10)
A heart controlled by the desire for acceptance will struggle to obey God fully. Believers must choose obedience to God even when it is unpopular or uncomfortable.

d) The fear of man becomes a spiritual trap (Proverbs 29:25)
When people become overly concerned about human approval, they often lose boldness, conviction, and discernment. True freedom comes from reverencing God above all else.

Biblical Example:
King Saul disobeyed God because he feared the opinions and demands of the people, and this ultimately cost him his kingdom (1 Samuel 15:24-28).

3. UNGODLY INFLUENCE CAN DESTROY DESTINY

Wrong associations and toxic influences often push people further away from God’s will.

a) Herodias carried bitterness and hatred against John the Baptist (Matthew 14:3,8)
Instead of repenting after hearing the truth, Herodias allowed offence and resentment to grow within her heart. Bitterness often drives people toward destructive and ungodly actions.

b) Herod allowed ungodly influence to shape his judgment (Matthew 14:6-8)
Rather than standing for truth, Herod permitted immoral influence within his household to determine his actions. Wrong voices can corrupt spiritual discernment and weaken conviction.

c) Evil companionship corrupts good character (1 Corinthians 15:33)
Relationships have spiritual influence. Consistent exposure to ungodly counsel can gradually pull believers away from righteousness and wisdom.

d) Wise believers must guard their associations carefully (Psalm 1:1-2)
The people we listen to and surround ourselves with can either strengthen or weaken our walk with God. Godly relationships encourage truth, holiness, and spiritual growth.

Biblical Example:
Rehoboam rejected wise counsel from experienced elders and followed the advice of immature companions, leading to the division of the kingdom (1 Kings 12:6-16).

4. GOD HONOURS THOSE WHO STAND FOR TRUTH

Faithfulness to God remains valuable even in the face of persecution or suffering.

a) John the Baptist remained faithful to God’s message until death (Matthew 14:10)
John did not compromise the truth to protect himself. His unwavering commitment to righteousness demonstrates the courage and integrity expected of God’s servants.

b) Righteousness may attract opposition from the world (2 Timothy 3:12)
Those who stand boldly for truth will sometimes face rejection, criticism, or persecution. However, God honours those who remain faithful despite opposition.

c) God remembers and rewards faithful obedience (Hebrews 6:10)
Even when faithfulness appears costly, God never overlooks the sacrifices and obedience of His children.

d) Eternal reward is greater than temporary comfort or approval (Romans 8:18)
Standing for truth may involve temporary hardship, but the eternal glory prepared for faithful believers far outweighs present difficulties.

Biblical Example:
Daniel remained faithful to God despite threats and persecution, and God preserved and honoured him openly before the kingdom (Daniel 6:10-23).

CONCLUSION

The tragedy of Herod’s compromise reveals how unchecked sin, fear of man, pride, and ungodly influence can lead to devastating consequences. Although Herod recognised truth, he lacked the courage to obey it fully.

John the Baptist, however, remained faithful to God’s message regardless of personal cost. His life reminds believers that righteousness, integrity, and obedience to God are more valuable than human approval or temporary pleasure.

Believers today must guard their hearts against compromise, stand boldly for truth, choose godly influences, and remain faithful to God no matter the pressure around them.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, deliver me from every form of compromise and disobedience in Jesus name

2. Father, help me to stand boldly for truth and righteousness in Jesus name

3. Lord, remove every fear of man from my heart in Jesus name

4. Father, help me to value Your approval above human opinion in Jesus name

6. Father, strengthen my spiritual conviction and discernment in Jesus name

7. Lord, help me to walk in holiness, integrity, and obedience continually in Jesus name

8. Father, preserve me from every trap of pride, lust, and compromise in Jesus name

THE DRAGNET AND FINAL JUDGMENT

THE DRAGNET AND FINAL JUDGMENT

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Matthew 13:47-50

Key Verse: “So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just.” (Matthew 13:49)

Supporting Texts: Matthew 25:31-46, Revelation 20:11-15, Ecclesiastes 12:14, Romans 14:10-12, 2 Corinthians 5:10

Description: This study reveals the certainty of God’s final judgment, the separation of the righteous from the wicked, and the need for believers to live faithfully in preparation for eternity.

INTRODUCTION

In Matthew chapter 13, Jesus compared the Kingdom of Heaven to a dragnet cast into the sea that gathered fish of every kind. When the net was full, the fishermen separated the good fish from the bad. Jesus explained that this parable points to the end of the age when the angels will separate the righteous from the wicked.

This parable teaches the certainty of final judgment and eternal accountability before God. Though people of different spiritual conditions presently coexist in the world, a day is coming when God will judge every life according to truth and righteousness.

Many people live carelessly without considering eternity, but Scripture continually reminds believers that earthly life is temporary and that every person will stand before God. Therefore, believers are called to live in holiness, faithfulness, repentance, and readiness for Christ’s return.

1. GOD’S KINGDOM PRESENTLY GATHERS ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE

The Gospel invitation goes out to everyone.

a) The dragnet gathered fish of every kind (Matthew 13:47)
God’s message of salvation reaches all people.

b) The Gospel is preached to the whole world (Mark 16:15)
God desires all humanity to hear the truth.

c) Both righteous and unrighteous people coexist presently (Matthew 13:30)
Final separation has not yet occurred.

d) God gives opportunity for repentance (2 Peter 3:9)
The Lord is patient and merciful toward sinners.

Biblical Example:
Noah preached righteousness for many years before judgment eventually came upon the world (Genesis 6:5-8).

2. A FINAL SEPARATION IS COMING

God will separate the righteous from the wicked.

a) The good fish were separated from the bad (Matthew 13:48)
God will distinguish between true and false believers.

b) Angels will participate in the final separation (Matthew 13:49)
Divine judgment will be perfectly executed.

c) Every hidden thing shall be revealed (Ecclesiastes 12:14)
Nothing escapes God’s knowledge or judgment.

d) Eternal destinies will be determined finally (Matthew 25:32-33)
Heaven and eternal separation from God are realities.

Biblical Example:
God separated Noah and his family from the wicked generation before the flood destroyed the earth (Genesis 7:1-7).

3. FINAL JUDGMENT WILL BE JUST AND CERTAIN

Every person will give account before God.

a) Everyone shall stand before God’s judgment seat (Romans 14:10-12)
No one can avoid divine accountability.

b) God judges according to truth and righteousness (Revelation 20:12)
The Lord’s judgment is perfect and impartial.

c) Wickedness will receive eternal punishment (Matthew 13:50)
Jesus warned seriously about eternal consequences.

d) Faithfulness and obedience will receive reward (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
God honours those who endure faithfully.

Biblical Example:
Belshazzar ignored God’s warnings and faced sudden judgment because of pride and rebellion (Daniel 5:22-30).

4. BELIEVERS MUST LIVE IN READINESS FOR ETERNITY

Christians are called to holy and faithful living.

a) Believers must remain spiritually prepared (Matthew 24:42-44)
Christ’s return will come unexpectedly.

b) Holiness and obedience are essential (Hebrews 12:14)
God calls His people to righteous living.

c) Faithfulness in service matters greatly (Matthew 25:21)
God rewards faithful stewardship.

d) Eternal focus strengthens spiritual commitment (Colossians 3:1-2)
Believers should live with eternity in view.

Biblical Example:
The wise virgins remained prepared with oil in their lamps and were ready when the bridegroom arrived (Matthew 25:1-13).

CONCLUSION

The Parable of the Dragnet reveals the certainty of final judgment and eternal separation between the righteous and the wicked. Although God presently allows all kinds of people to coexist, a final day of accountability is coming.

Believers are therefore called to live faithfully, walk in holiness, remain spiritually prepared, and continue in obedience to God. Eternal life with Christ awaits those who endure faithfully until the end.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, help me to live continually in readiness for eternity in Jesus name

2. Father, keep my heart faithful and steadfast before You in Jesus name

THE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE

THE HIDDEN TREASURE IN THE FIELD

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Matthew 13:44

Key Verse: “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.” (Matthew 13:44)

Supporting Texts: Philippians 3:7-8, Proverbs 2:1-5, Colossians 2:2-3, Matthew 6:19-21, Psalm 119:72

Description: This study reveals the incomparable value of God’s Kingdom and the importance of wholeheartedly pursuing spiritual treasures above earthly possessions.

INTRODUCTION

In Matthew chapter 13, Jesus compared the Kingdom of Heaven to a hidden treasure buried in a field. A man discovered the treasure and, recognising its immense value, joyfully sold everything he owned in order to purchase the field and obtain the treasure.

This short but powerful parable teaches that the Kingdom of God is of far greater value than anything the world can offer. Many people spend their lives pursuing wealth, fame, pleasure, and earthly success, yet fail to recognise the eternal riches found in Christ.

The hidden treasure represents salvation, eternal life, fellowship with God, spiritual wisdom, and the blessings of God’s Kingdom. Those who truly understand its value willingly surrender worldly priorities to obtain spiritual riches that can never perish.

1. THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS A PRECIOUS TREASURE

God’s Kingdom is more valuable than all earthly possessions.

a) Jesus compared the Kingdom to hidden treasure (Matthew 13:44)
Spiritual riches surpass material wealth.

b) Eternal things are more valuable than temporary things (2 Corinthians 4:18)
Earthly possessions fade, but God’s Kingdom endures forever.

c) Salvation through Christ is priceless (1 Peter 1:18-19)
Redemption was purchased through the precious blood of Jesus.

d) Divine wisdom is greater than earthly riches (Proverbs 3:13-15)
Spiritual understanding produces eternal reward.

Biblical Example:
Moses chose the reproach of Christ above the treasures of Egypt because he valued eternal reward (Hebrews 11:24-26).

2. SPIRITUAL TREASURE MUST BE DISCOVERED AND VALUED

Not everyone recognises the value of God’s Kingdom.

a) The treasure was hidden in the field (Matthew 13:44)
Spiritual truth is often overlooked by worldly minds.

b) Those who seek sincerely will find divine treasure (Jeremiah 29:13)
God reveals Himself to earnest seekers.

c) Spiritual blindness prevents people from valuing truth (2 Corinthians 4:4)
Many ignore eternal realities while chasing temporary gain.

d) Revelation produces appreciation for God’s Kingdom (Colossians 2:2-3)
True understanding reveals the riches found in Christ.

Biblical Example:
The Apostle Paul counted all earthly achievements as loss compared to knowing Christ (Philippians 3:7-8).

3. OBTAINING THE TREASURE REQUIRES SACRIFICE AND COMMITMENT

The Kingdom demands wholehearted devotion.

a) The man sold all he had to buy the field (Matthew 13:44)
God deserves complete surrender and commitment.

b) Following Christ may require sacrifice (Luke 14:33)
Believers must place God above worldly priorities.

c) Eternal reward outweighs temporary sacrifice (Romans 8:18)
What believers gain in Christ is far greater than what they leave behind.

d) Joy accompanies genuine surrender to God (Psalm 16:11)
True fulfilment is found in God’s presence.

Biblical Example:
The disciples left their nets, businesses, and occupations to follow Jesus wholeheartedly (Matthew 4:18-22).

4. THE TREASURE OF THE KINGDOM BRINGS ETERNAL BLESSING

Those who possess God’s Kingdom receive lasting riches.

a) God’s treasure brings eternal life (John 10:28)
Salvation secures everlasting fellowship with God.

b) Spiritual riches produce peace and fulfilment (Philippians 4:7)
God satisfies the deepest needs of the soul.

c) Heavenly treasures cannot be destroyed (Matthew 6:19-20)
Eternal rewards remain forever secure.

d) God’s Kingdom produces lasting fruit and impact (John 15:16)
A life devoted to Christ carries eternal significance.

Biblical Example:
Solomon received wisdom from God, and it brought honour, blessing, and influence beyond earthly riches (1 Kings 3:11-13).

CONCLUSION

Jesus taught that the Kingdom of Heaven is like a hidden treasure of incomparable worth. Those who truly understand the value of salvation, fellowship with God, and eternal life will gladly surrender worldly distractions to pursue Christ wholeheartedly.

Earthly riches are temporary, but spiritual treasure lasts forever. Believers are called to seek first God’s Kingdom, value eternal things above temporary gain, and live fully devoted to Christ.

Description: This study reveals how even small but genuine faith can grow powerfully and produce extraordinary spiritual results in the life of a believer.

INTRODUCTION

In Matthew chapter 13, Jesus compared the Kingdom of Heaven to a mustard seed. Though the mustard seed is very small, it grows into a large tree where birds find shelter. Through this parable, Jesus revealed the power of small beginnings and the extraordinary growth potential of genuine faith.

Many believers become discouraged because their faith seems weak or small. However, Jesus taught that faith does not need to begin large to become effective. What matters is that faith is genuine, alive, and growing. Even little faith placed in a great God can produce mighty results.

Faith is essential in the Christian life. It connects believers to God’s promises, power, provision, and victory. Through prayer, God’s Word, obedience, and perseverance, small faith can develop into strong and fruitful spiritual maturity.

1. FAITH MAY BEGIN SMALL BUT CAN GROW GREATLY

God values genuine faith regardless of size.

a) Jesus compared the Kingdom to a mustard seed (Matthew 13:31-32)
Small beginnings can produce great outcomes.

b) God often starts with little things to accomplish great purposes (Zechariah 4:10)
Believers must not despise small beginnings.

c) Faith grows through hearing God’s Word (Romans 10:17)
Spiritual growth requires continual exposure to truth.

d) God honours sincere trust in Him (Hebrews 11:6)
Faith pleases God and attracts His response.

Biblical Example:
David began as a shepherd boy, but through faith in God, he defeated Goliath and became king (1 Samuel 17:45-50).

2. SMALL FAITH CAN PRODUCE GREAT RESULTS

Faith releases God’s power into impossible situations.

a) Jesus said faith as a mustard seed can move mountains (Matthew 17:20)
Genuine faith overcomes obstacles and impossibilities.

b) Faith believes beyond natural limitations (Mark 9:23)
God works through those who trust Him sincerely.

c) Persistent faith receives divine answers (Luke 18:1-8)
Faith continues despite delays and opposition.

d) Faith activates prayer and miracles (Mark 11:22-24)
Believing prayer produces spiritual breakthroughs.

Biblical Example:
The woman with the issue of blood received healing because of her faith in Jesus (Mark 5:25-34).

3. FAITH MUST BE NOURISHED TO GROW

Spiritual growth requires continual development.

a) Faith grows through God’s Word (Romans 10:17)
Scripture strengthens confidence in God’s promises.

b) Prayer strengthens spiritual dependence upon God (Jude 1:20)
Fellowship with God builds stronger faith.

c) Trials can mature faith (James 1:2-4)
Difficulties often develop perseverance and trust.

d) Obedience strengthens faith practically (James 2:17-18)
Living faith expresses itself through action.

Biblical Example:
Abraham’s faith grew stronger as he trusted God’s promises over many years (Romans 4:18-21).

4. GROWING FAITH BECOMES A BLESSING TO OTHERS

Strong faith influences and encourages many people.

a) The mustard seed became a tree providing shelter (Matthew 13:32)
Mature faith blesses and supports others.

b) Faithful believers become sources of encouragement (Hebrews 10:24-25)
Spiritual maturity strengthens the body of Christ.

c) God uses people of faith to impact generations (Psalm 78:4-7)
Strong faith leaves lasting spiritual influence.

d) Faith glorifies God before others (Matthew 5:16)
A faith-filled life becomes a testimony of God’s power.

Biblical Example:
Paul’s faith and endurance strengthened many believers during persecution and hardship (Philippians 1:12-14).

CONCLUSION

Jesus taught that faith, though small in its beginning, can grow into something powerful and fruitful. Genuine faith in God has unlimited potential when nourished through God’s Word, prayer, obedience, and perseverance.

Believers must never despise small beginnings or weak moments of faith. As faith grows, it produces victory, spiritual maturity, miracles, and lasting influence for God’s Kingdom.

WHEAT AND TARES GROWING TOGETHER

WHEAT AND TARES GROWING TOGETHER

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43

Key Verse: “Let both grow together until the harvest…” (Matthew 13:30)

Supporting Texts: Matthew 24:10-13, 2 Timothy 3:1-5, Psalm 1:1-6, Galatians 6:7-8, Revelation 22:11-12

Description: This study explains the Parable of the Wheat and the Tares, revealing the coexistence of righteousness and evil in the world, the reality of spiritual deception, and God’s final judgment.

INTRODUCTION

In Matthew chapter 13, Jesus gave the Parable of the Wheat and the Tares. A farmer sowed good seed in his field, but while men slept, an enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat. As both plants grew together, the servants desired to uproot the tares immediately, but the master instructed them to allow both to grow together until the harvest.

Jesus later explained that the good seed represents the children of the Kingdom, while the tares represent the children of the wicked one. The field represents the world, the enemy is the devil, and the harvest symbolises the end of the age.

This parable teaches believers that righteousness and wickedness will exist side by side until God’s appointed time of judgment. It also warns Christians to remain spiritually alert, faithful, and discerning.

1. GOD SOWS GOOD SEED IN HIS KINGDOM

God desires righteousness, holiness, and fruitfulness.

a) The sower planted good seed in his field (Matthew 13:24)
God’s work and intentions are always good and righteous.

b) The good seed represents the children of the Kingdom (Matthew 13:38)
Believers are called to reflect God’s nature and truth.

c) God expects spiritual fruitfulness from His people (John 15:5)
True believers produce godly character and righteous living.

d) The Word of God transforms lives positively (Isaiah 55:10-11)
God’s truth produces lasting spiritual growth.

Biblical Example:
Joseph maintained righteousness and integrity despite living in a corrupt environment (Genesis 39:7-9).

2. THE ENEMY SOWS TARES AMONG THE WHEAT

Satan seeks to corrupt, deceive, and oppose God’s work.

a) The enemy sowed tares while men slept (Matthew 13:25)
Spiritual carelessness creates opportunities for satanic attacks.

b) Tares resemble wheat outwardly (Matthew 13:26)
Deception often appears close to truth externally.

c) Satan works to hinder spiritual growth (1 Peter 5:8)
The enemy constantly opposes God’s Kingdom.

d) False believers and false teachings exist in the world (2 Corinthians 11:13-15)
Discernment is necessary for spiritual safety.

Biblical Example:
Judas Iscariot walked among the disciples outwardly yet harboured betrayal within his heart (John 12:4-6).

3. WHEAT AND TARES WILL COEXIST UNTIL THE HARVEST

God allows time for growth, repentance, and final separation.

a) The master said both should grow together until harvest (Matthew 13:30)
God permits coexistence temporarily according to His wisdom.

b) Premature judgment can cause harm (Matthew 13:29)
Human judgment is limited and imperfect.

c) God is patient and longsuffering (2 Peter 3:9)
The Lord gives people opportunity for repentance.

d) The righteous must remain faithful despite evil around them (Philippians 2:15)
Believers are called to shine as lights in darkness.

Biblical Example:
Noah remained righteous in a corrupt generation while wickedness increased around him (Genesis 6:5-9).

4. A FINAL HARVEST AND JUDGMENT IS COMING

God will separate the righteous from the wicked at the end.

a) The harvest represents the end of the world (Matthew 13:39)
God has appointed a final day of judgment.

b) Angels will separate the wicked from the righteous (Matthew 13:41-42)
Divine judgment will be just and complete.

c) The righteous shall shine in God’s Kingdom (Matthew 13:43)
Faithful believers will receive eternal reward.

d) Every person will reap according to their actions (Galatians 6:7-8)
God’s judgment is based upon truth and righteousness.

Biblical Example:
The separation of sheep and goats described by Jesus reveals the certainty of future judgment and reward (Matthew 25:31-46).

CONCLUSION

The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares teaches that good and evil will continue side by side until God’s appointed time of separation and judgment. Satan actively works to oppose God’s Kingdom through deception and corruption, but God remains sovereign and patient.

Believers are called to remain spiritually alert, faithful, fruitful, and discerning. Those who endure faithfully shall shine eternally in the Kingdom of God when the final harvest comes.
