THE KING IS BORN (CHRISTMAS)

Title: THE KING IS BORN (CHRISTMAS)

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Matthew 2:2
Supporting Texts: Luke 2:10-11, Isaiah 9:6-7

INTRODUCTION:
Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of the King—Jesus Christ. It is more than just a historical event; it marks the arrival of the promised Messiah who would bring salvation to the world. The announcement of His birth to the shepherds and the visit of the wise men are reminders that this King, though born in humble circumstances, reigns as the eternal King of kings. This message reflects on the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ, the King, and how it impacts our lives today.

1. THE KING WHO CAME IN HUMILITY

a) The Birthplace of the King:
Jesus, the King of kings, was born in a stable, not a palace (Luke 2:7).

b) The Humility of Christ:
The King who created the heavens and the earth chose to come into the world in the most humble way possible (Philippians 2:6-8).

c) A King Who Identifies with Us:
Jesus’ humble birth shows that He identifies with the lowly and the broken-hearted, bringing hope to all (Luke 4:18).

d) The Role of Humility in God’s Kingdom:
In God’s kingdom, greatness is not defined by wealth or power, but by humility and servanthood (Mark 10:43-45).

e) Biblical Example:
The shepherds, who were considered lowly in society, were the first to receive the announcement of Jesus' birth, showing that the King’s message is for everyone (Luke 2:8-20).

2. THE KING WHO BRINGS GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY

a) The Angel’s Proclamation:
The angel declared, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people" (Luke 2:10).

b) The King Who Brings Salvation:
Jesus’ birth is the good news that salvation has come to the world, and through Him, we can have eternal life (John 3:16).

c) A Message of Hope:
The birth of Christ brings hope to a world in despair, offering light in the darkness (Isaiah 9:2).

d) Joy in the Birth of the King:
True joy comes from knowing Christ, the King who brings peace and forgiveness (Psalm 16:11).

e) Biblical Example:
The wise men, after seeing the star, rejoiced with exceeding joy, understanding that the King had been born (Matthew 2:10).

3. THE KING WHO IS THE PRINCE OF PEACE

a) The Promise of Peace:
Jesus, the Prince of Peace, was sent to bring reconciliation between God and humanity (Isaiah 9:6).

b) Peace Between God and Man:
Jesus’ birth fulfilled the prophecy of a Saviour who would bring peace to the world, reconciling us to God (Romans 5:1).

c) Peace in Our Hearts:
Christ’s peace calms the storms of life and brings peace to our troubled hearts (John 14:27).

d) A Call to Be Peacemakers:
Jesus calls us to be peacemakers, reflecting His peace in a world filled with turmoil (Matthew 5:9).

e) Biblical Example:
After the birth of Jesus, the angels declared peace on earth, showing the peace that the King brings to the world (Luke 2:14).

4. THE KING WHO IS WORTHY OF WORSHIP

a) The Wise Men’s Worship:
The wise men, when they found Jesus, bowed down and worshipped Him, acknowledging Him as the King (Matthew 2:11).

b) Worship in Spirit and Truth:
True worship of the King is not just external acts, but an internal surrender of the heart (John 4:23-24).

c) A Life of Worship:
Worship is not limited to a moment; it is a lifestyle of honouring Christ as King in all that we do (Romans 12:1).

d) The King Deserves Our All:
Just as the wise men gave gifts to Jesus, we are called to offer our lives as gifts of worship to the King (Matthew 2:11).

e) Biblical Example:
The shepherds, after seeing the child, returned glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen (Luke 2:20).

5. THE KING WHO REIGNS FOREVER

a) The Everlasting Kingdom:
Jesus’ reign is eternal; His kingdom will never end (Isaiah 9:7).

b) The King Who Reigns in Our Hearts:
Christ is not only the King of the world, but He is also the King who desires to reign in our hearts (Revelation 3:20).

c) The Promise of His Return:
Jesus will return as King to judge the world and establish His eternal kingdom (Revelation 22:12).

d) A Kingdom of Righteousness and Justice:
Christ’s reign will be one of perfect justice, peace, and righteousness (Isaiah 11:4-5).

e) Biblical Example:
When the wise men sought Jesus, they acknowledged His kingship, and their hearts were filled with reverence for the eternal King (Matthew 2:11).

CONCLUSION:
