Description: Enjoying the fellowship of the Holy Spirit means cultivating a conscious and intimate relationship with Him, recognising His presence, responding to His guidance, and experiencing His power and transforming work every day.

INTRODUCTION

Paul concluded his second letter to the Corinthians with a beautiful blessing: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.” The word “communion” speaks of fellowship, partnership, participation, and intimate relationship. God has not called believers merely to know about the Holy Spirit but to enjoy fellowship with Him.

The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force. He is the divine Person who lives within believers, teaches, guides, comforts, strengthens, convicts, empowers, and transforms them. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would remain with His followers and would help them live out their calling. His presence is one of God's greatest gifts to the believer.

Many believers know about the Holy Spirit but do not fully enjoy fellowship with Him. Fellowship requires time, attention, obedience, sensitivity, prayer, worship, and a willingness to follow His leading. When we cultivate this relationship, we experience divine guidance in confusing situations, strength in difficult seasons, power for ministry, comfort in sorrow, and transformation of character.

1. RECOGNISE THE PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

We cannot enjoy fellowship with someone whose presence we continually ignore. The first step is recognising that the Holy Spirit is present with us and within us.

a. The Holy Spirit Dwells In You (1 Corinthians 6:19) — The believer's body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who dwells within God's people.

b. The Holy Spirit Is Always With You (John 14:16-17) — Jesus promised that the Spirit would abide with His followers forever.

c. The Holy Spirit Knows You Intimately (1 Corinthians 2:10-11) — The Spirit searches and knows the deep things of God and communicates God's truth to His people.

d. The Holy Spirit Gives Assurance (Romans 8:15-16) — He bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

Biblical Example: David recognised the importance of God's Spirit and cried out for the continued presence of the Holy Spirit after his sin (Psalm 51:11-12).

2. DEVELOP A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

Fellowship grows through consistent interaction. The Holy Spirit desires more than occasional attention; He desires our daily participation.

a. Spend Time In Prayer (Ephesians 6:18) — Prayer keeps believers spiritually sensitive and dependent upon God.

b. Worship God From The Heart (Philippians 3:3) — Genuine worship involves spiritual dependence and rejoicing in Christ.

c. Meditate On God's Word (John 14:26) — The Holy Spirit teaches believers and brings Christ's words to their remembrance.

d. Give Him Your Attention (Revelation 2:7) — Believers must cultivate spiritual sensitivity so that they can hear what the Spirit is saying.

Biblical Example: The believers in Antioch worshipped, fasted, and ministered to the Lord when the Holy Spirit gave them specific direction for missionary work (Acts 13:1-3).

3. ENJOY THE HOLY SPIRIT'S GUIDANCE

One of the greatest benefits of fellowship with the Holy Spirit is divine direction.

a. Allow The Spirit To Lead You (Romans 8:14) — Those who are led by the Spirit are identified as the children of God.

b. Listen For Divine Instruction (Acts 8:29) — The Spirit directed Philip toward the Ethiopian official and opened an opportunity for gospel ministry.

c. Follow God's Timing (Acts 16:6-10) — Paul and his companions experienced the Spirit's direction concerning where they should and should not preach.

d. Test Spiritual Impressions By Scripture (1 John 4:1) — Spiritual claims must be tested because not every spiritual voice or teaching comes from God.

Biblical Example: Philip obeyed the Spirit's instruction to approach the Ethiopian eunuch, resulting in the man's understanding of Scripture and conversion (Acts 8:26-39).

4. EXPERIENCE THE COMFORT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is the divine Comforter who strengthens believers during difficult seasons.

a. He Is The Comforter (John 14:16) — Jesus promised another Comforter who would remain with His disciples forever.

b. He Helps Us In Our Weakness (Romans 8:26) — The Spirit helps believers when they do not know how to pray as they ought.

c. He Gives Inner Assurance (Romans 8:16) — His witness gives believers confidence that they belong to God.

d. He Brings Peace To The Heart (Romans 15:13) — Through the Spirit's power, believers can abound in hope even during difficult circumstances.

Biblical Example: Stephen remained full of the Holy Spirit even while facing violent opposition and death, demonstrating the Spirit's strengthening presence in suffering (Acts 7:54-60).

5. ENJOY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live effectively and fulfil God's purposes.

a. Receive Power To Witness (Acts 1:8) — The Spirit empowers believers to become effective witnesses for Jesus Christ.

b. Receive Boldness (Acts 4:31) — The early church experienced supernatural boldness after being filled with the Holy Spirit.

c. Receive Spiritual Gifts (1 Corinthians 12:7-11) — The Spirit gives different gifts for the common good and the strengthening of the church.

d. Walk In Spiritual Victory (Galatians 5:16) — Walking in the Spirit helps believers resist the controlling desires of the flesh.

Biblical Example: Peter moved from denying Jesus to boldly preaching Christ before thousands after receiving the power of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:14-41).

6. ENJOY THE TRANSFORMING WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit does not merely give power; He changes our character and makes us more like Christ.

a. Produce The Fruit Of The Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) — The Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

b. Become More Like Christ (2 Corinthians 3:18) — The Spirit transforms believers progressively into the image of Christ.

c. Put To Death The Works Of The Flesh (Romans 8:13) — Through the Spirit, believers can overcome sinful practices and live holy lives.

d. Grow In Holiness (1 Peter 1:15-16) — Fellowship with the Spirit leads believers toward a life that reflects God's holiness.

Biblical Example: Barnabas was described as a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith. His Spirit-filled character strengthened the church and encouraged many believers (Acts 11:22-24).

7. PROTECT YOUR FELLOWSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

Enjoying fellowship with the Holy Spirit requires us to guard our hearts and conduct.

a. Do Not Grieve The Spirit (Ephesians 4:30) — Sin, bitterness, malice, and disobedience can grieve the Holy Spirit.

b. Do Not Quench The Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19) — Believers should not suppress or resist the Spirit's work in their lives.

c. Walk In Truth (Ephesians 4:25) — A Spirit-filled life requires honesty and integrity.

d. Respond To Conviction Quickly (Psalm 139:23-24) — We should allow God to search our hearts and correct anything that is contrary to His will.

Biblical Example: Ananias and Sapphira attempted to deceive the church concerning their offering and lied to the Holy Spirit, showing the seriousness of dishonesty in the presence of God (Acts 5:1-10).

8. MAKE FELLOWSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT A DAILY JOY

Fellowship with the Holy Spirit should become a lifestyle rather than an occasional spiritual experience.

a. Be Continually Filled (Ephesians 5:18) — Believers are called to live continually under the influence and control of the Holy Spirit.

b. Pray In The Spirit (Jude 20) — Prayer in the Spirit builds believers up spiritually and strengthens their faith.

c. Walk In Step With The Spirit (Galatians 5:25) — Since we live by the Spirit, our daily conduct should also follow His leading.

d. Let Christ Be Glorified Through You (John 16:14) — The Holy Spirit's ministry is Christ-centred, and His work in us should cause Jesus to be glorified.

Biblical Example: The early church lived in continual dependence upon the Holy Spirit for worship, prayer, direction, boldness, and ministry, and the Lord added to their number (Acts 2:42-47).

CONCLUSION

The fellowship of the Holy Spirit is not a religious burden; it is a divine privilege and a source of joy. The Holy Spirit is our Helper, Comforter, Guide, Teacher, Empowerer, and Sanctifier. He brings the presence of God into our daily experience and enables us to live beyond the limitations of human strength.

Therefore, cultivate your relationship with the Holy Spirit through prayer, worship, God's Word, obedience, and spiritual sensitivity. Welcome His guidance, receive His comfort, walk in His power, and allow Him to transform your character. As you enjoy fellowship with the Holy Spirit every day, you will experience greater intimacy with God, greater spiritual strength, and greater effectiveness in fulfilling your divine assignment.

THE GRACE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

THE GRACE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: 2 Corinthians 13:14

Key Verse: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” — 2 Corinthians 13:14

Supporting Texts: John 1:14-17; Romans 3:23-24; Romans 5:1-2; Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Corinthians 8:9; 2 Corinthians 12:9; Titus 2:11-12; Hebrews 4:16

Description: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ is God's undeserved favour revealed through Christ, bringing salvation, forgiveness, strength, transformation, and divine empowerment to everyone who believes.

INTRODUCTION

Paul concluded his second letter to the Corinthians with a powerful apostolic blessing: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.” The first expression of this blessing points our attention to the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace is at the heart of the gospel because what humanity could never accomplish through human effort, God accomplished through Jesus Christ.

Grace means God's undeserved favour and generous provision toward people who cannot earn His acceptance by their own merit. We were sinners who needed forgiveness, strangers who needed reconciliation, and helpless people who needed salvation. Through Christ, God provided what we could never provide for ourselves. Grace does not ignore sin; it provides the answer to sin through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

The grace of Christ is not only for the moment of salvation. It is a continuing supply for the believer's entire Christian journey. We need grace to stand, grace to overcome temptation, grace to endure trials, grace to serve God, grace to forgive, grace to grow spiritually, and grace to finish our assignment. Therefore, every believer must learn to live daily under the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1. UNDERSTAND THE SOURCE OF CHRIST'S GRACE

The grace we receive through Christ originates from God's loving character and His redemptive purpose.

a. Grace Came Through Jesus Christ (John 1:17) — The law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

b. Grace Is Rooted In God's Love (Ephesians 2:4-5) — God, because of His great love and mercy, made us alive together with Christ.

c. Grace Is God's Gift (Romans 3:23-24) — Though all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory, believers are justified freely by His grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus.

d. Grace Is Available To All Who Believe (Romans 5:1-2) — Through faith in Christ, believers have access into the grace in which they stand.

Biblical Example: Paul received extraordinary grace from Christ. Though he had persecuted the church, God's grace transformed him into an apostle and servant of the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:9-10).

2. RECEIVE THE SAVING GRACE OF CHRIST

The first and greatest expression of Christ's grace is salvation.

a. Salvation Is By Grace Through Faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) — Salvation is God's gift and cannot be earned through human works.

b. Grace Provides Redemption (Ephesians 1:7) — Through Christ's blood, believers receive redemption and forgiveness of sins according to the riches of God's grace.

c. Grace Justifies The Sinner (Romans 3:24) — God declares believers righteous freely by His grace through the redemption accomplished by Christ.

d. Grace Gives New Life (2 Corinthians 5:17) — Those who come to Christ become new creations because of the transforming work of God.

Biblical Example: The thief on the cross received saving grace at the very end of his earthly life when he believed in Jesus and was promised paradise (Luke 23:39-43).

3. EXPERIENCE GRACE FOR FORGIVENESS AND RESTORATION

Christ's grace does not abandon believers when they fail. It provides a pathway to repentance, forgiveness, and restoration.

a. Confess Your Sins To God (1 John 1:9) — God is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse those who confess their sins.

b. Receive Mercy Through Christ (Hebrews 4:16) — Believers can approach God's throne boldly to receive mercy and find grace in times of need.

c. Do Not Remain In Condemnation (Romans 8:1) — Those who are in Christ Jesus are no longer under condemnation.

d. Allow Grace To Restore You (John 21:15-17) — Jesus restored Peter after his denial and gave him renewed responsibility in ministry.

Biblical Example: Peter denied Jesus three times, yet Christ met him after the resurrection, restored him, and recommissioned him to care for God's people (John 21:15-17).

4. DEPEND ON GRACE IN TIMES OF WEAKNESS

Human strength has limits, but Christ's grace is sufficient for every believer.

a. Christ's Grace Is Sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9) — Jesus told Paul that His grace was sufficient and that His strength was made perfect in weakness.

b. Grace Gives Strength For Trials (Isaiah 40:29) — God gives power to those who are weak and increases strength to those who have no might.

c. Grace Helps You Stand (Romans 5:2) — Through Christ we stand in grace rather than depending upon our own strength.

d. Grace Enables Perseverance (Hebrews 10:36) — Believers need patience and endurance to continue faithfully until God's promises are fulfilled.

Biblical Example: Paul endured imprisonment, persecution, opposition, and hardship because Christ's grace continually strengthened him to continue his apostolic assignment (2 Corinthians 11:23-28; 12:9-10).

5. LET CHRIST'S GRACE TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE

Grace does not give permission to remain in sin. It teaches and empowers us to live differently.

a. Grace Teaches Holiness (Titus 2:11-12) — God's grace teaches believers to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live soberly, righteously, and godly.

b. Grace Produces Humility (James 4:6) — God gives more grace to the humble, while pride places a person in opposition to God's working.

c. Grace Produces Spiritual Growth (2 Peter 3:18) — Believers are called to grow continually in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

d. Grace Changes Our Character (Galatians 2:20) — The life of Christ becomes increasingly visible in believers as they surrender themselves to Him.

Biblical Example: Zacchaeus encountered the grace of Christ and demonstrated genuine transformation by making restitution and changing his approach to wealth and people (Luke 19:1-10).

6. WALK IN GRACE TOWARD OTHER PEOPLE

Those who have received Christ's grace are called to extend grace to others.

a. Forgive As Christ Forgave You (Colossians 3:13) — Believers should forgive others because they themselves have received forgiveness from Christ.

b. Speak Graciously (Colossians 4:6) — Our conversations should be gracious, wise, and helpful to those who hear us.

c. Show Mercy (Luke 6:36) — Jesus calls His followers to be merciful as their heavenly Father is merciful.

d. Restore The Fallen Gently (Galatians 6:1) — Those who fall should be restored with gentleness rather than treated with pride or cruelty.

Biblical Example: The Good Samaritan showed practical mercy to a wounded man, demonstrating how God's people should respond compassionately to those in need (Luke 10:30-37).

7. SERVE GOD THROUGH CHRIST'S GRACE

Grace does not make believers passive; it empowers them to serve.

a. Grace Gives Spiritual Gifts (Romans 12:6) — Believers have different gifts according to the grace God has given them.

b. Grace Enables Labour (1 Corinthians 15:10) — Paul recognised that his ministry labour was possible because God's grace was working through him.

c. Grace Gives Boldness (Acts 4:33) — The apostles proclaimed the resurrection of Jesus with great power, and great grace was upon them.

d. Grace Helps Us Fulfil Our Calling (Acts 20:24) — Paul valued finishing the ministry he received from Christ above preserving his own comfort.

Biblical Example: Apollos served powerfully because God used his knowledge, zeal, and teaching ability to strengthen believers and advance the gospel (Acts 18:24-28).

8. CONTINUE GROWING IN THE GRACE OF CHRIST

Grace is not something we receive once and then forget. We are called to continue growing in it throughout our Christian journey.

a. Grow In Grace And Knowledge (2 Peter 3:18) — Spiritual maturity requires continual growth in our understanding and experience of Christ.

b. Come To God For Fresh Grace (Hebrews 4:16) — God's throne remains a place where believers can continually receive mercy and grace for their needs.

c. Abound In God's Grace (2 Corinthians 9:8) — God is able to make grace abound so that believers have sufficiency for every good work.

d. Remain Established In Grace (Hebrews 13:9) — Believers should allow God's grace to establish their hearts rather than being carried away by teachings that do not profit spiritually.

Biblical Example: The early church continued to grow in God's grace as the believers remained devoted to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, prayer, and the work of the gospel (Acts 2:42-47).

CONCLUSION

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ is the foundation and sustaining power of the Christian life. We are saved by grace, forgiven by grace, strengthened by grace, transformed by grace, equipped by grace, and enabled to serve by grace. What God has called us to do cannot be accomplished successfully through human ability alone; we must continually depend upon Christ.

Therefore, do not run away from God when you are weak or have failed. Come boldly to the throne of grace. Receive His mercy, depend upon His strength, allow His grace to transform your character, and extend that same grace to others. As you continue to grow in the grace of Christ, you shall become stronger in faith, fruitful in service, steadfast in trials, and effective in fulfilling God's purpose for your life.

THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: 2 Corinthians 13:14

Key Verse: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” — 2 Corinthians 13:14

Supporting Texts: John 14:16-18; John 16:13-15; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:14-16; 1 Corinthians 6:19; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18; Ephesians 4:30; Galatians 5:22-25

Description: The fellowship of the Holy Spirit is the believer's intimate communion with God's Spirit, through which we receive His presence, guidance, comfort, power, holiness, and spiritual direction.

INTRODUCTION

Paul's final blessing to the Corinthians includes the words, “the communion of the Holy Ghost.” The word communion speaks of fellowship, partnership, participation, and shared relationship. Christianity is therefore not merely a religious system; it is a living relationship with God through the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force or an abstract influence. He is the divine Person who lives within believers, teaches them, guides them, comforts them, convicts them, empowers them, and helps them to live according to God's will. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would remain with His followers and would be their divine Helper.

Every believer needs fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Human wisdom is limited, strength can fail, and circumstances can be confusing, but the Holy Spirit provides divine guidance and power. When we cultivate fellowship with Him, our spiritual lives become stronger, our sensitivity to God's voice increases, our character is transformed, and we become more effective in fulfilling God's purpose.

1. UNDERSTAND WHO THE HOLY SPIRIT IS

We cannot enjoy meaningful fellowship with the Holy Spirit without recognising who He is. The Holy Spirit is God, the third Person of the Trinity, and He relates personally with God's people.

a. The Holy Spirit Is God (Acts 5:3-4) — Peter's words concerning Ananias and Sapphira demonstrate the divine identity of the Holy Spirit.

b. The Holy Spirit Has A Personal Will (1 Corinthians 12:11) — The Spirit distributes spiritual gifts to believers according to His own will.

c. The Holy Spirit Teaches And Guides (John 16:13) — Jesus described the Spirit as the One who guides believers into all truth.

d. The Holy Spirit Can Be Grieved (Ephesians 4:30) — Scripture shows that our conduct can grieve the Holy Spirit, demonstrating that He relates personally with believers.

Biblical Example: The Holy Spirit spoke to the leaders of the church at Antioch and directed them to separate Barnabas and Saul for the work to which He had called them (Acts 13:2-4).

2. RECEIVE THE PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is God's gift to believers, and His presence changes the way we live.

a. The Spirit Dwells In Believers (1 Corinthians 6:19) — The believer's body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who dwells within God's people.

b. The Spirit Is Our Helper (John 14:16) — Jesus promised another Comforter who would remain with His followers forever.

c. The Spirit Gives Assurance (Romans 8:15-16) — The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

d. The Spirit Gives Spiritual Power (Acts 1:8) — The Holy Spirit empowers believers to become effective witnesses for Christ.

Biblical Example: On the Day of Pentecost, the disciples received the promised Holy Spirit and were empowered to proclaim the gospel with boldness (Acts 2:1-4, 14-21).

3. CULTIVATE DAILY FELLOWSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

Fellowship with the Holy Spirit should not be limited to church services. It must become a daily relationship.

a. Spend Time In Prayer (Ephesians 6:18) — Believers are encouraged to pray always with spiritual dependence and perseverance.

b. Worship God In The Spirit (Philippians 3:3) — Genuine Christian worship is empowered by the Spirit and centred on Christ.

c. Meditate On God's Word (John 14:26) — The Holy Spirit helps believers remember and understand the teachings of Christ.

d. Remain Sensitive To His Leading (Romans 8:14) — Those who are led by the Spirit are identified as the children of God.

Biblical Example: Peter was praying when God gave him divine direction concerning the Gentiles. The Holy Spirit prepared him to understand God's wider purpose (Acts 10:9-20).

4. ALLOW THE HOLY SPIRIT TO GUIDE YOU

The Holy Spirit provides divine direction for decisions, ministry, relationships, and daily living.

a. Follow The Spirit's Leading (Romans 8:14) — God's children should allow the Spirit to direct their lives rather than being controlled by the flesh.

b. Listen When God Gives Direction (Acts 8:29) — The Spirit instructed Philip to approach the Ethiopian official, leading to an important gospel encounter.

c. Do Not Resist God's Direction (Acts 7:51) — Scripture warns against resisting the work and leading of the Holy Spirit.

d. Test Spiritual Impressions By Scripture (1 John 4:1) — Believers must test spiritual claims and teachings rather than accepting everything without discernment.

Biblical Example: Paul and his companions were prevented by the Holy Spirit from entering certain regions before receiving direction to Macedonia, demonstrating the Spirit's active guidance in missionary work (Acts 16:6-10).

5. WALK IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit gives believers supernatural strength to fulfil God's purposes.

a. Receive Power To Witness (Acts 1:8) — The Spirit empowers believers to testify effectively about Jesus Christ.

b. Receive Power To Overcome The Flesh (Galatians 5:16) — Walking in the Spirit enables believers to resist the sinful desires of the flesh.

c. Receive Spiritual Gifts For Service (1 Corinthians 12:4-7) — The Spirit gives gifts to believers for the benefit and building up of the body of Christ.

d. Receive Boldness In Ministry (Acts 4:31) — The early believers were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.

Biblical Example: Peter, who had previously denied Jesus, became bold after being filled with the Holy Spirit and publicly proclaimed Christ before the crowd at Pentecost (Acts 2:14-41).

6. LET THE HOLY SPIRIT TRANSFORM YOUR CHARACTER

The goal of fellowship with the Spirit is not merely spiritual experiences but Christlike character.

a. Produce The Fruit Of The Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) — The Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

b. Put To Death The Works Of The Flesh (Romans 8:13) — Through the Spirit, believers can put sinful practices to death and live in holiness.

c. Become More Like Christ (2 Corinthians 3:18) — As we behold the glory of the Lord, the Spirit transforms us progressively into Christ's image.

d. Grow In Holiness (1 Peter 1:15-16) — The Holy Spirit leads believers into a life that reflects God's holiness.

Biblical Example: Stephen demonstrated Spirit-filled character even while being persecuted. He remained full of faith and forgiveness rather than responding with hatred (Acts 6:5; 7:54-60).

7. DO NOT GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT

Fellowship with the Holy Spirit requires sensitivity and obedience. Sin can damage our intimacy with God.

a. Put Away Bitterness (Ephesians 4:31) — Bitterness, wrath, anger, and malice are inconsistent with Spirit-filled living.

b. Avoid Persistent Disobedience (1 Thessalonians 5:19) — Believers are warned not to quench the Spirit's work.

c. Walk In Truth And Holiness (Ephesians 4:25) — The Spirit's presence should lead us away from falsehood and toward righteous living.

d. Respond Quickly To Conviction (Psalm 51:10-12) — When we recognise our sin, we should turn to God in repentance and seek renewal.

Biblical Example: David recognised the seriousness of losing the conscious experience of God's presence after his sin and cried out for God to restore a right spirit within him (Psalm 51:10-12).

8. MAKE FELLOWSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT A LIFESTYLE

The believer should cultivate continuous dependence upon the Holy Spirit rather than treating fellowship with Him as an occasional spiritual activity.

a. Be Continually Filled With The Spirit (Ephesians 5:18) — Believers are called to live under the ongoing influence and control of the Holy Spirit.

b. Pray In The Spirit (Jude 20) — Prayer strengthens believers and helps them build themselves up spiritually.

c. Walk In Step With The Spirit (Galatians 5:25) — Since we live by the Spirit, our daily conduct should also be directed by Him.

d. Let The Spirit Glorify Christ Through You (John 16:14) — The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus by revealing Christ and directing believers toward Him.

Biblical Example: The apostles and early believers continually depended upon the Holy Spirit for prayer, direction, boldness, fellowship, and ministry, resulting in the continued growth of the church (Acts 4:31-33).

CONCLUSION

The fellowship of the Holy Spirit is one of the greatest privileges available to the believer. The Spirit lives within us, guides us, empowers us, comforts us, teaches us, transforms our character, and helps us fulfil God's purpose. We must therefore move beyond merely knowing about the Holy Spirit and develop a genuine daily fellowship with Him.

Cultivate His presence through prayer, worship, obedience, God's Word, and spiritual sensitivity. Do not grieve or quench His work in your life. Allow Him to guide your decisions, empower your ministry, produce His fruit in your character, and make Christ visible through your life. As you walk in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, you will experience deeper intimacy with God and greater effectiveness in His service.

WALKING IN THE LOVE OF GOD

WALKING IN THE LOVE OF GOD

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: 2 Corinthians 13:14

Key Verse: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” — 2 Corinthians 13:14

Supporting Texts: John 3:16; Romans 5:5; Romans 8:35-39; 1 John 4:7-12; John 13:34–35; Ephesians 3:17-19; 1 Corinthians 13:4-7; Colossians 3:12-14

Description: Walking in the love of God means receiving His love, remaining secure in it, and allowing His love to transform our character, relationships, service, and response to others.

INTRODUCTION

Paul's closing blessing in 2 Corinthians 13:14 includes the profound statement, “the love of God.” God's love is not merely an idea or a theological doctrine; it is the foundation of our relationship with Him. We were separated from God by sin, but His love moved Him to provide salvation through Jesus Christ. Every believer therefore begins the Christian journey by receiving and responding to divine love.

Walking in God's love means more than saying that we love God. It means allowing His love to become the controlling influence of our lives. When we understand how deeply God loves us, we can overcome fear, rejection, insecurity, bitterness, and the desire for revenge. God's love gives us identity, security, courage, and the ability to love people even when relationships become difficult.

The world desperately needs to see the love of God demonstrated through the lives of believers. Jesus said that people would recognise His disciples by their love for one another. Therefore, we must not only receive God's love but also walk in it, demonstrate it, and allow it to influence the way we speak, forgive, serve, encourage, and relate to others.

1. UNDERSTAND THE DEPTH OF GOD'S LOVE

Before we can walk in God's love, we must understand how great His love is toward us.

a. God's Love Is Demonstrated In Giving (John 3:16) — God demonstrated His love by giving His only begotten Son so that those who believe in Him might have eternal life.

b. God's Love Is Sacrificial (Romans 5:8) — God showed His love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

c. God's Love Is Everlasting (Jeremiah 31:3) — God's love is not temporary or dependent on changing circumstances; He loves His people with everlasting love.

d. God's Love Is Beyond Human Understanding (Ephesians 3:18-19) — The dimensions of Christ's love are so great that they surpass ordinary human knowledge.

Biblical Example: The father in the parable of the prodigal son demonstrated extraordinary love by receiving his returning son with compassion and restoring him to fellowship (Luke 15:20-24).

2. RECEIVE GOD'S LOVE BY FAITH

Many people struggle to love others because they have not fully accepted the truth that God loves them.

a. Believe That God Loves You (1 John 3:1) — God's love is demonstrated in making us His children through Christ.

b. Let God's Love Give You Security (Romans 8:38-39) — Nothing in creation can separate believers from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus.

c. Allow God's Love To Heal Rejection (Psalm 27:10) — Even when human relationships fail, God remains faithful to His children.

d. Rest In God's Acceptance Through Christ (Ephesians 1:6) — Through Christ, believers are accepted in the Beloved and brought into God's family.

Biblical Example: Mephibosheth experienced restoration and acceptance when David brought him from Lo-debar and gave him a place at the king's table (2 Samuel 9:1-13).

3. LET GOD'S LOVE REMOVE FEAR

The love of God provides security and courage in the midst of uncertainty.

a. Perfect Love Casts Out Fear (1 John 4:18) — Mature understanding of God's love removes the fear that produces torment.

b. Do Not Fear Abandonment (Hebrews 13:5) — God has promised never to leave nor forsake His people.

c. Trust God In Difficult Seasons (Psalm 23:4) — God's presence gives courage even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

d. Face Life With Confidence (Romans 8:31) — If God is for us, no opposition can ultimately defeat His purpose for our lives.

Biblical Example: David faced Goliath with courage because his confidence was in God rather than in his own strength (1 Samuel 17:45-47).

4. LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART

God's love toward us should produce a corresponding love for Him.

a. Love God Above Everything (Matthew 22:37) — Jesus commanded us to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind.

b. Demonstrate Love Through Obedience (John 14:15) — Jesus connected love for Him with obedience to His commandments.

c. Seek God's Presence (Psalm 63:1) — Genuine love for God produces a desire to know Him and fellowship with Him.

d. Put God First In Your Priorities (Matthew 6:33) — Loving God means seeking His kingdom and righteousness above competing priorities.

Biblical Example: Mary of Bethany demonstrated deep love for Jesus by sitting at His feet, listening to His word, and later anointing Him with costly perfume (Luke 10:38-42; John 12:1-8).

5. LOVE OTHER PEOPLE AS CHRIST LOVED YOU

The love we receive from God must become the love we demonstrate toward others.

a. Love Other Believers (John 13:34-35) — Jesus gave His disciples a new commandment to love one another as He had loved them.

b. Love Your Neighbour (Matthew 22:39) — Love for others is inseparable from genuine love for God.

c. Love Your Enemies (Matthew 5:44) — Christ calls believers to love enemies, bless those who curse them, and pray for those who persecute them.

d. Serve Others In Love (Galatians 5:13) — Christian freedom should be expressed through loving service rather than selfishness.

Biblical Example: The Good Samaritan demonstrated practical love by helping a wounded man whom others had ignored (Luke 10:30-37).

6. LET LOVE CONTROL YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS

Love is demonstrated through practical behaviour, not merely through words.

a. Speak With Grace (Colossians 4:6) — Our words should be gracious and wise so that they can build rather than destroy.

b. Be Patient With Others (1 Corinthians 13:4) — Biblical love is patient and kind, even when people are difficult.

c. Forgive Offences (Colossians 3:13) — Love refuses to nurture resentment and chooses forgiveness as Christ has forgiven us.

d. Do Good To Others (Galatians 6:10) — Believers should use every opportunity to demonstrate practical goodness.

Biblical Example: Joseph demonstrated love and forgiveness when he refused to retaliate against his brothers for selling him into slavery (Genesis 50:15-21).

7. ALLOW LOVE TO RESTORE BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS

God's love does not ignore wrongdoing, but it creates an atmosphere where forgiveness, repentance, and restoration can take place.

a. Forgive As Christ Forgave You (Ephesians 4:32) — Believers should forgive others because God has forgiven them through Christ.

b. Pursue Peace (Romans 12:18) — We should make every reasonable effort to live peacefully with others.

c. Restore Those Who Repent (Galatians 6:1) — When someone falls and genuinely repents, spiritual believers should restore that person gently.

d. Cover Offences With Love (1 Peter 4:8) — Genuine love helps believers resist the urge to expose, magnify, and continually repeat the failures of others.

Biblical Example: Paul encouraged the Corinthian church to forgive and reaffirm their love toward the repentant offender so that excessive sorrow would not overwhelm him (2 Corinthians 2:6-8).

8. MAKE GOD'S LOVE YOUR DAILY LIFESTYLE

Walking in love must become a consistent way of life rather than an occasional response.

a. Let Love Be Your Motivation (2 Corinthians 5:14) — The love of Christ should compel believers to live for Him rather than for themselves.

b. Walk In Love Every Day (Ephesians 5:2) — Believers are commanded to walk in love as Christ loved us and gave Himself for us.

c. Let Love Guide Your Spiritual Gifts (1 Corinthians 13:1-3) — Spiritual gifts and religious activities have little value when they are exercised without love.

d. Let Love Remain Your Highest Character (1 Corinthians 13:13) — Faith, hope, and love remain, but love is the greatest because it reflects the character of God.

Biblical Example: Barnabas consistently encouraged and strengthened other believers. His life demonstrated the practical expression of love within the early church (Acts 11:22-26).

CONCLUSION

Walking in the love of God begins with understanding and receiving His love through Jesus Christ. God's love gives us salvation, security, healing, courage, and identity. When we know that we are deeply loved by God, we no longer need to live controlled by fear, rejection, bitterness, or the approval of people.

The evidence that we have received God's love is that His love begins to flow through us to others. Therefore, love God wholeheartedly, love fellow believers, love your neighbour, forgive those who offend you, serve others, and even pray for those who oppose you. Let the love of God govern your words, decisions, relationships, and ministry. As you walk in divine love, your life will become a living testimony of the God who first loved you.

2. Lord, help me to understand the depth, width, length, and height of Your love, in Jesus name.

3. Father, let Your love heal every wound of rejection, disappointment, betrayal, and abandonment in my life, in Jesus name.

LIVING UNDER GOD'S GRACE

LIVING UNDER GOD'S GRACE

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: 2 Corinthians 13:14

Key Verse: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” — 2 Corinthians 13:14

Supporting Texts: Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:1-2; 2 Corinthians 12:9; Titus 2:11-12; Hebrews 4:16; 1 Corinthians 15:10; James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5

Description: Living under God's grace means continually depending on the undeserved favour of God through Christ, allowing His grace to save, sustain, transform, strengthen, and empower us for His purpose.

INTRODUCTION

Paul concluded his second letter to the Corinthians with a powerful blessing: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.” Grace is at the heart of the Christian experience because everything we receive from God is made possible through His unmerited favour. We are saved by grace, forgiven by grace, strengthened by grace, and sustained by grace.

Living under God's grace does not mean living carelessly or using grace as an excuse for sin. Grace teaches us to reject ungodliness and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world. God's grace does not merely pardon our past; it also transforms our present and equips us for the future.

Every believer needs to understand how to live under grace. Human strength is limited, circumstances change, people may fail us, and our own abilities are insufficient for everything God has called us to accomplish. But God's grace is sufficient. When we depend upon Him, His grace gives us strength where we are weak, wisdom where we lack understanding, and power to fulfil His purpose.

1. UNDERSTAND WHAT GOD'S GRACE MEANS

Before we can live under grace, we must understand that grace is God's undeserved favour and enabling power at work in our lives.

a. Grace Is God's Unmerited Favour (Ephesians 2:8-9) — Salvation is a gift from God received through faith, not a reward that can be earned by human works.

b. Grace Brings Us Into God's Family (Romans 5:1-2) — Through faith in Christ, we have peace with God and access by faith into the grace in which we stand.

c. Grace Is Greater Than Our Failure (Romans 5:20) — Where sin increased, grace abounded much more, demonstrating the surpassing power of God's grace.

d. Grace Is Given Through Jesus Christ (John 1:16-17) — Through Christ we receive grace upon grace, because grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Biblical Example: The apostle Paul received extraordinary grace after his conversion. Though he had persecuted the church, God's grace transformed him into a powerful servant of the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:9-10).

2. RECEIVE GOD'S GRACE THROUGH FAITH

Grace is God's provision, but we must receive and depend upon it by faith.

a. Come Boldly To God's Throne (Hebrews 4:16) — Believers can approach God's throne with confidence to receive mercy and find grace in times of need.

b. Believe God's Promises (Romans 4:20-21) — Faith enables us to trust that God is able to fulfil what He has promised.

c. Depend On Christ Rather Than Yourself (Philippians 4:13) — Our ability to accomplish God's purposes comes from Christ who strengthens us.

d. Walk In What God Has Provided (2 Peter 1:3) — God's divine power has given us everything necessary for life and godliness through the knowledge of Christ.

Biblical Example: Abraham believed God's promise even when circumstances appeared impossible. His faith rested upon God's ability rather than human strength (Romans 4:18-21).

3. LET GRACE STRENGTHEN YOU IN WEAKNESS

God's grace becomes especially evident when human strength reaches its limit.

a. God's Grace Is Sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9) — Christ told Paul that His grace was sufficient and that His strength was made perfect in weakness.

b. Do Not Depend On Human Strength (Zechariah 4:6) — God's purposes are accomplished not by human might or power, but by His Spirit.

c. Receive Strength For Difficult Seasons (Isaiah 40:29) — God gives power to the faint and increases strength to those who have no might.

d. Continue When You Feel Weak (Galatians 6:9) — Grace enables believers to remain faithful and not become weary in doing what is good.

Biblical Example: Elijah became exhausted and discouraged after his confrontation with the prophets of Baal, but God strengthened and renewed him for the journey ahead (1 Kings 19:4-8).

4. ALLOW GRACE TO TRANSFORM YOUR CHARACTER

Grace does not only forgive us; it teaches us to become more like Christ.

a. Grace Teaches Us To Reject Sin (Titus 2:11-12) — God's grace teaches believers to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts and to live soberly, righteously, and godly.

b. Grace Produces Humility (James 4:6) — God gives more grace to the humble but resists those who walk in pride.

c. Grace Helps Us Forgive Others (Colossians 3:13) — Those who have received God's grace should extend forgiveness and patience to others.

d. Grace Produces Christlike Living (2 Peter 3:18) — Believers are called to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Biblical Example: Zacchaeus encountered the transforming grace of Jesus and demonstrated genuine change by correcting his relationship with those he had wronged (Luke 19:1-10).

5. DEPEND ON GRACE FOR SERVICE

God's work cannot be accomplished successfully through human ability alone. We need His grace for every assignment He gives us.

a. Grace Gives Us Ability To Serve (1 Corinthians 15:10) — Paul acknowledged that his labour was possible because God's grace worked within him.

b. Grace Gives Spiritual Gifts (Romans 12:6) — Believers receive different gifts according to the grace given to them by God.

c. Grace Gives Boldness (Acts 4:33) — The apostles witnessed about Christ with great power, and great grace was upon them all.

d. Grace Helps Us Finish Our Assignment (Acts 20:24) — Paul considered his life valuable when spent faithfully completing the ministry he had received from Christ.

Biblical Example: Bezalel was empowered by God with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and craftsmanship to accomplish the work of constructing the tabernacle (Exodus 31:1-6).

6. REMAIN HUMBLE UNDER GRACE

Because grace is God's gift, nobody has a legitimate reason to boast as though God's blessings were achieved entirely through personal ability.

a. Remember That Everything Comes From God (1 Corinthians 4:7) — Whatever we possess has ultimately been received, so there is no room for pride.

b. Give God The Glory (1 Corinthians 10:31) — Everything we do should be done for God's glory rather than personal recognition.

c. Submit To God's Grace (James 4:6) — God gives grace to the humble, making humility essential to continued spiritual growth.

d. Honour Others (Philippians 2:3) — Grace teaches believers to value others and avoid selfish ambition and pride.

Biblical Example: John the Baptist demonstrated remarkable humility when he declared that Christ must increase while he himself must decrease (John 3:30).

7. DO NOT RECEIVE GOD'S GRACE IN VAIN

Grace must produce a response. We must not receive God's favour and then live contrary to the purpose for which He has called us.

a. Do Not Frustrate God's Grace (Galatians 2:21) — Paul warned against treating God's grace as though Christ's sacrifice were unnecessary.

b. Walk Worthy Of Your Calling (Ephesians 4:1) — God's grace should produce a life that reflects the calling we have received.

c. Abound In Good Works (2 Corinthians 9:8) — God gives sufficient grace so that believers can abound in every good work.

d. Continue Growing Spiritually (2 Peter 3:18) — We must continually grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Biblical Example: Demas began as a fellow worker with Paul but later abandoned the ministry because he loved the present world. His life warns us not to allow worldly desires to overcome our commitment to God (Colossians 4:14; 2 Timothy 4:10).

8. EXPECT GOD'S GRACE FOR EVERY NEW LEVEL

Every new assignment, responsibility, challenge, and opportunity requires fresh dependence upon God.

a. Grace Is Available For Every Need (Hebrews 4:16) — God invites us to come confidently to receive grace whenever we need His help.

b. Grace Multiplies Through Christ (2 Peter 1:2) — Grace and peace are multiplied to believers through the knowledge of God and Jesus Christ.

c. God Gives More Grace For Greater Demands (James 4:6) — When responsibilities increase, we must depend more deeply upon God rather than ourselves.

d. God's Grace Will Carry You Through (2 Corinthians 9:8) — God is able to make all grace abound toward us so that we have sufficiency in all things and can abound in every good work.

Biblical Example: Joshua received God's presence and strength to lead Israel after Moses' death. What was beyond his natural ability became possible because God promised to be with him (Joshua 1:5-9).

CONCLUSION

Living under God's grace means refusing to depend exclusively on human strength and choosing to rely upon God's provision every day. Grace saves us, forgives us, strengthens us, transforms our character, equips us for service, and gives us power to fulfil divine assignments. The grace of God is not a licence to remain unchanged; it is the divine power that enables us to become what God has called us to be.

Therefore, come boldly to God, depend upon His grace in every situation, remain humble, and allow His grace to produce spiritual fruit in your life. When you are weak, His grace is sufficient. When you face a difficult assignment, His grace is available. When you fall, His grace can restore you. When God enlarges your responsibility, His grace will sustain you. May you continually live under the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and become a vessel through which His purpose is fulfilled.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, thank You for the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that has saved and sustained me, in Jesus name.

2. Lord Jesus, let Your grace continually speak for me and strengthen me in every area of my life, in Jesus name.

3. Father, help me to depend completely upon Your grace and not upon my own strength, in Jesus name.

7. Father, release fresh grace upon my ministry, work, family, and every assignment You have committed into my hands, in Jesus name.

8. Lord, deliver me from pride and help me to remain humble under Your grace, in Jesus name.

9. Father, let Your grace open doors, provide opportunities, and empower me for every new level You are bringing me into, in Jesus name.

10. Lord, help me to live faithfully under Your grace and never receive Your grace in vain, in Jesus name.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS

10. From this day forward, you shall live under God's grace, walk in His favour, fulfil His purpose, and finish your assignment successfully, in Jesus name.

THE GRACE, LOVE, AND FELLOWSHIP OF THE TRINITY

THE GRACE, LOVE, AND FELLOWSHIP OF THE TRINITY

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: 2 Corinthians 13:14

Key Verse: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” — 2 Corinthians 13:14

Supporting Texts: Matthew 28:19; John 3:16; John 14:16-18; Romans 5:5; Ephesians 2:8-9; Ephesians 4:30; 1 Peter 1:2; Jude 20-21

Description: The grace, love, and fellowship of the Trinity reveal the fullness of God's saving work and invite believers to live continually under the grace of Christ, the love of the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

INTRODUCTION

Paul concluded his second letter to the Corinthians with one of the most beautiful blessings in Scripture: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.” This benediction brings together the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and reminds believers that the Christian life is centred on the work and presence of the triune God.

The Trinity is one God eternally revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Scripture does not present three gods, but one God who exists in three distinct Persons. Each Person is fully divine and works in perfect unity. The Father loves us, the Son gives us grace and salvation, and the Holy Spirit brings us into fellowship with God and makes His presence real in our daily lives.

The blessing of 2 Corinthians 13:14 is therefore more than a closing statement. It describes the spiritual resources available to every believer. We need the grace of Christ to save and sustain us, the love of the Father to assure and strengthen us, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit to guide and empower us. When we live consciously in these realities, we can walk in peace, holiness, spiritual strength, and intimate fellowship with God.

1. RECEIVE THE GRACE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

Grace is God's undeserved favour given to us through Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace, sustained by grace, and equipped to fulfil God's purpose by grace.

a. Grace Brings Salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9) — Salvation is God's gift received through faith, not something we can earn through human works.

b. Grace Forgives Our Sins (Ephesians 1:7) — Through Christ we have redemption and forgiveness according to the riches of God's grace.

c. Grace Sustains Us In Weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9) — Christ's grace is sufficient, and His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

d. Grace Enables Us To Serve God (1 Corinthians 15:10) — Paul acknowledged that everything he accomplished in ministry was possible because of God's grace working in him.

Biblical Example: Peter experienced restoring grace after denying Jesus three times. Christ did not abandon him but restored him and entrusted him with responsibility in His work (John 21:15-17).

2. REST IN THE LOVE OF GOD THE FATHER

The love of God is the foundation of our relationship with Him. God's love assures us that we are not abandoned and that His purposes toward us are good.

a. God's Love Is Demonstrated Through Christ (John 3:16) — God loved the world so greatly that He gave His only begotten Son so that those who believe in Him might have eternal life.

b. God's Love Is Everlasting (Jeremiah 31:3) — God's love is not temporary or dependent upon changing circumstances; He draws His people with everlasting love.

c. God's Love Drives Out Fear (1 John 4:18) — As we understand and experience God's perfect love, fear loses its controlling power over our hearts.

d. God's Love Gives Us Security (Romans 8:38-39) — Nothing in creation can separate believers from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus.

Biblical Example: The prodigal son discovered the welcoming love of his father when he returned home. His father received him with compassion and restored him to fellowship (Luke 15:20-24).

3. WALK IN THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit does not merely work around believers; He lives within them and brings them into fellowship with God.

a. The Holy Spirit Lives In Believers (1 Corinthians 6:19) — The believer's body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who dwells within God's people.

b. The Holy Spirit Guides Us (John 16:13) — The Spirit guides believers into truth and helps them understand the will of God.

c. The Holy Spirit Empowers Us (Acts 1:8) — The Holy Spirit gives power for effective witness and Christian service.

d. The Holy Spirit Comforts Us (John 14:16-18) — Jesus promised another Comforter who would remain with His followers and would not leave them as orphans.

Biblical Example: The early church walked in the fellowship and power of the Holy Spirit, receiving direction, boldness, and spiritual strength for the work of the gospel (Acts 13:2-4).

4. UNDERSTAND THE UNITY OF THE TRINITY

The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work together in perfect unity. Understanding this helps us appreciate the fullness of God's work in our salvation and Christian experience.

a. The Father, Son, And Spirit Are Present In Salvation (1 Peter 1:2) — Scripture presents the Father, the sanctifying work of the Spirit, and the obedience and blood of Jesus Christ together in God's saving purpose.

b. The Trinity Is Revealed In Baptism (Matthew 28:19) — Jesus commanded His disciples to baptise believers in the singular name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

c. The Father Sends The Son (John 3:16-17) — The Father's love is demonstrated through sending Christ into the world to accomplish redemption.

d. The Father And Son Send The Spirit (John 15:26) — The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and is sent by Christ to testify concerning Him.

Biblical Example: At Jesus' baptism, the Son stood in the Jordan, the Spirit descended like a dove, and the Father's voice came from heaven. The event provides a clear biblical picture of the distinct Persons acting together (Matthew 3:16-17).

5. LIVE CONSCIOUSLY UNDER GOD'S BLESSING

Paul's words are not merely theological information; they are a blessing to be experienced. Believers should consciously depend upon God's grace, love, and fellowship every day.

a. Depend On Christ's Grace Daily (Hebrews 4:16) — We can approach God's throne confidently to receive mercy and find grace for every need.

b. Remain In God's Love (John 15:9-10) — Jesus calls His followers to continue in His love by walking in obedience to His commandments.

c. Maintain Fellowship With The Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30) — We should not grieve the Holy Spirit through disobedience, bitterness, or sinful behaviour.

d. Let God's Peace Rule Your Heart (Colossians 3:15) — Conscious fellowship with God produces spiritual stability and allows His peace to govern our hearts.

Biblical Example: Enoch walked with God consistently, demonstrating what it means to maintain a continual relationship with the Lord (Genesis 5:22-24).

6. ALLOW THE TRINITY TO SHAPE YOUR CHRISTIAN LIFE

The grace, love, and fellowship of God should affect the way we think, worship, serve, relate to others, and face life's challenges.

a. Let Grace Make You Humble (1 Peter 5:5) — Knowing that everything we have comes through God's grace should produce humility rather than pride.

b. Let Love Make You Compassionate (Colossians 3:12-14) — God's love should cause us to treat others with kindness, patience, forgiveness, and compassion.

c. Let The Spirit Produce His Fruit In You (Galatians 5:22-23) — Fellowship with the Holy Spirit produces Christlike character in the believer.

d. Let Your Life Glorify God (Matthew 5:16) — The grace we receive, the love we demonstrate, and the Spirit's work within us should point others to God.

Biblical Example: Barnabas demonstrated grace, love, and Spirit-filled character. He encouraged believers, supported the work of God, and helped strengthen the early church (Acts 11:22-26).

LIVING IN CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

LIVING IN CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: 2 Corinthians 13:11-13

Key Verse: “Greet one another with an holy kiss. All the saints salute you.” — 2 Corinthians 13:12-13

Supporting Texts: Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24-25; John 13:34-35; Romans 12:4-5, 10; Ephesians 4:1-3; Philippians 2:1-4; 1 John 1:7; Psalm 133:1

Description: Christian fellowship is the shared life of believers in Christ, expressed through love, unity, encouragement, worship, service, mutual care, and spiritual partnership.

INTRODUCTION

The closing words of Paul's second letter to the Corinthians emphasise the importance of relationships within the body of Christ. After calling believers to spiritual maturity, encouragement, unity, and peace, Paul instructed them to greet one another in love and reminded them that all the saints were sending their greetings. Christianity was never designed to be lived in isolation.

Christian fellowship is more than attending the same church service or knowing people's names. It is sharing life together as members of the family of God. Believers encourage one another, pray for one another, bear one another's burdens, correct one another in love, and work together for the advancement of God's kingdom.

When Christian fellowship is healthy, believers become stronger, the weak are encouraged, the lonely are embraced, and the church becomes a powerful witness to the world. Therefore, every believer should value fellowship and make a deliberate commitment to build relationships that honour Christ.

1. UNDERSTAND THE PURPOSE OF CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

God has designed believers to grow and serve together.

a. Fellowship Is A Biblical Pattern (Acts 2:42) — The early believers continued steadfastly in fellowship, teaching, prayer, and the breaking of bread.

b. We Are Members Of One Body (Romans 12:4-5) — Every believer belongs to the body of Christ and has a meaningful place within it.

c. Fellowship Produces Spiritual Strength (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10) — People are stronger together because they can help one another when one falls.

d. Fellowship Reflects Christ To The World (John 13:34-35) — The love believers demonstrate toward one another becomes evidence that they belong to Christ.

Biblical Example: The believers in Jerusalem shared their lives, possessions, meals, prayers, and worship, and their fellowship contributed to the growth of the church (Acts 2:42-47).

2. WALK IN LOVE TOWARD OTHER BELIEVERS

Love is the foundation of genuine Christian fellowship.

a. Love One Another (John 13:34) — Jesus gave His followers a new commandment to love one another as He loved them.

b. Love Without Hypocrisy (Romans 12:9) — Genuine Christian fellowship requires sincere love rather than pretence or hidden motives.

c. Love Covers Offences (1 Peter 4:8) — Love prevents believers from magnifying every offence and continually exposing the weaknesses of others.

d. Let Love Govern Everything (1 Corinthians 16:14) — Every action, word, and relationship should be governed by love.

Biblical Example: Barnabas demonstrated genuine love and encouragement toward the believers and helped Saul become accepted by the disciples after his conversion (Acts 9:26-28).

3. MAKE FELLOWSHIP A PRIORITY

Christian fellowship requires deliberate participation and commitment.

a. Do Not Forsake Fellowship (Hebrews 10:24-25) — Believers should not withdraw from assembling together because fellowship provides encouragement and spiritual strengthening.

b. Encourage One Another (1 Thessalonians 5:11) — Every believer has a responsibility to build others up.

c. Share Life Together (Acts 4:32) — The early church demonstrated unity by caring for one another and sharing what they had.

d. Remain Connected To The Body (1 Corinthians 12:21) — No believer should consider himself or herself independent of the rest of the body.

Biblical Example: The disciples gathered continually for prayer, fellowship, teaching, and worship even during seasons of pressure and persecution (Acts 4:23-31).

4. ENCOURAGE AND STRENGTHEN ONE ANOTHER

Fellowship should make people stronger, not weaker.

a. Speak Words That Build (Ephesians 4:29) — Our words should minister grace and encouragement to those who hear us.

b. Strengthen The Weak (1 Thessalonians 5:14) — Believers are called to support the weak and be patient with everyone.

c. Bear One Another's Burdens (Galatians 6:2) — Fellowship includes helping others carry difficult burdens.

d. Comfort Those Who Are Discouraged (2 Corinthians 1:4) — Those who have received God's comfort should become channels of comfort to others.

Biblical Example: Jonathan strengthened David in God when David was under pressure from Saul, showing the value of a godly friend (1 Samuel 23:16-18).

5. FORGIVE AND RESTORE ONE ANOTHER

Healthy fellowship requires grace because people will sometimes offend one another.

a. Forgive As Christ Forgave You (Colossians 3:13) — Believers should extend the same forgiveness they have received from Christ.

b. Restore Those Who Fall (Galatians 6:1) — Those who fall should be restored gently rather than permanently rejected when repentance is evident.

c. Pursue Reconciliation (Matthew 5:23-24) — Jesus teaches believers to take deliberate steps toward restoring broken relationships.

d. Remove Bitterness (Ephesians 4:31-32) — Bitterness, anger, and malice destroy fellowship and must be replaced with kindness and forgiveness.

Biblical Example: Paul instructed the Corinthian church to forgive and comfort a disciplined offender after his repentance so that he would not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow (2 Corinthians 2:6-8).

6. SERVE ONE ANOTHER IN LOVE

Christian fellowship becomes stronger when believers use their gifts to serve others.

a. Serve One Another (Galatians 5:13) — Christian freedom should be expressed through loving service.

b. Use Your Spiritual Gifts (1 Peter 4:10) — Every believer has received gifts that should be used to serve others as a faithful steward.

c. Carry One Another's Needs (Romans 12:13) — Fellowship includes practical generosity and care for people in need.

d. Do Good To All Believers (Galatians 6:10) — Christians should actively seek opportunities to bless other members of God's household.

Biblical Example: Dorcas used her practical skills and resources to serve widows and needy believers, leaving a powerful testimony of Christian love (Acts 9:36-39).

7. PROTECT THE UNITY OF THE CHURCH

Christian fellowship must be protected from attitudes and behaviours that create division.

a. Maintain The Unity Of The Spirit (Ephesians 4:3) — Believers should make every effort to preserve unity through peace.

b. Reject Selfish Ambition (Philippians 2:3) — Pride and selfish competition can destroy relationships within the church.

c. Avoid Gossip And Slander (Proverbs 16:28) — Destructive speech can separate close friends and damage the fellowship of believers.

d. Pursue Peace (Romans 14:19) — Christians should pursue things that contribute to peace and mutual spiritual growth.

Biblical Example: The apostles and elders gathered in Jerusalem to address a serious doctrinal disagreement and sought a solution that would preserve the unity of the growing church (Acts 15:1-29).

8. GROW TOGETHER IN CHRIST

The ultimate purpose of Christian fellowship is not merely social interaction but collective spiritual growth.

a. Grow In Grace And Knowledge (2 Peter 3:18) — Believers are called to continue growing in their relationship with Christ.

b. Teach And Admonish One Another (Colossians 3:16) — Fellowship creates opportunities for believers to share God's Word and encourage obedience.

c. Build One Another Up In Faith (Jude 1:20) — Believers should strengthen themselves and others spiritually.

d. Become More Like Christ Together (Ephesians 4:15-16) — As every part of the body functions properly, the church grows in love and maturity.

Biblical Example: Apollos grew in his understanding of the gospel through the ministry of Aquila and Priscilla, who taught him more accurately and helped him become more effective in ministry (Acts 18:24-28).

CONCLUSION

Christian fellowship is God's gift to His people. We were not created to walk alone. We need one another for encouragement, prayer, correction, support, service, accountability, and spiritual growth. The church becomes stronger when every believer contributes to a healthy atmosphere of love and fellowship.

Therefore, value your relationships with God's people. Do not isolate yourself unnecessarily, and do not allow offence, pride, gossip, or competition to separate you from the body of Christ. Greet one another in love, encourage the weak, forgive those who offend you, serve others with your gifts, and pursue unity. As we live together in Christian fellowship, the love of Christ will become visible through our lives.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, give me grace to value and participate faithfully in Christian fellowship, in Jesus name.

2. Lord, fill my heart with genuine love for Your people, in Jesus name.

3. Father, deliver me from isolation, pride, selfishness, and attitudes that destroy fellowship, in Jesus name.

4. Lord, make me a source of encouragement and strength to other believers, in Jesus name.

5. Father, give me grace to forgive offences and restore broken relationships, in Jesus name.

6. Lord, help me to use my gifts and resources to serve Your people faithfully, in Jesus name.

7. Father, protect my church from division, gossip, strife, and every work of the enemy, in Jesus name.

8. Lord, strengthen the unity, love, and fellowship among Your people, in Jesus name.

9. Father, surround me with godly relationships that will strengthen my faith and help me grow spiritually, in Jesus name.

10. Lord, help me to grow together with Your people into the maturity and likeness of Christ, in Jesus name.

LIVING A BALANCED CHRISTIAN LIFE

LIVING A BALANCED CHRISTIAN LIFE

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: 2 Corinthians 13:11-14

Key Verse: “Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.” — 2 Corinthians 13:11

Supporting Texts: Matthew 6:33; Micah 6:8; Ecclesiastes 3:1; Philippians 4:5-9; Colossians 3:12-17; Ephesians 5:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; Galatians 5:22-23; 1 Timothy 4:7-8

Description: A balanced Christian life is one in which spiritual devotion, godly character, relationships, responsibilities, work, rest, and service are kept under the Lordship of Christ.

INTRODUCTION

Paul's closing words in 2 Corinthians 13:11-14 provide a beautiful picture of a balanced Christian life. He calls believers to pursue spiritual maturity, encouragement, unity, peace, fellowship, and the grace of Christ. These qualities demonstrate that Christianity is not limited to one area of life but should influence the whole person.

A Christian can be very active in church and yet neglect the family, know Scripture and yet lack love, work hard and neglect prayer, or pursue material success while becoming spiritually weak. God's desire is not for believers to live fragmented lives but to allow Christ to govern every area of their existence.

Balance does not mean giving every activity exactly the same amount of time. It means giving the right priority to the right things according to God's will. When Christ is at the centre, our spiritual life, relationships, responsibilities, work, finances, health, emotions, and service can be brought into proper order.

1. PUT GOD AT THE CENTRE OF YOUR LIFE

A balanced Christian life begins with the right priority: God must remain first.

a. Seek First God's Kingdom (Matthew 6:33) — When God's kingdom and righteousness are placed first, other legitimate concerns can be brought into proper perspective.

b. Love God With Your Whole Being (Matthew 22:37) — God desires our heart, soul, mind, and strength rather than a divided commitment.

c. Abide In Christ (John 15:4-5) — Fruitfulness in every area of life depends on maintaining a living relationship with Christ.

d. Commit Your Ways To The Lord (Proverbs 3:5-6) — Trusting God allows Him to direct our decisions and keep our lives on the right path.

Biblical Example: Daniel maintained his devotion to God while carrying out his responsibilities in government, refusing to allow his public duties to destroy his spiritual commitment (Daniel 6:3-10).

2. BALANCE SPIRITUAL GROWTH WITH PRACTICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Spiritual maturity should influence how we handle our everyday responsibilities.

a. Be Diligent In Your Work (Proverbs 22:29) — Excellence and diligence in legitimate work can honour God.

b. Work As Unto The Lord (Colossians 3:23) — Whatever we do should be done sincerely as service to Christ.

c. Take Care Of Your Household (1 Timothy 5:8) — Christian responsibility includes caring appropriately for those entrusted to us.

d. Do Not Neglect Spiritual Things (Matthew 4:4) — Physical needs are important, but spiritual nourishment from God's Word is essential.

Biblical Example: Lydia was a businesswoman who also responded to the gospel, opened her home to God's servants, and used her resources in the service of God's kingdom (Acts 16:14-15).

3. MAINTAIN A HEALTHY PRAYER AND WORD LIFE

Spiritual balance requires consistent fellowship with God.

a. Pray Continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17) — Prayer should become a continuing relationship with God rather than an occasional activity.

b. Meditate On God's Word (Joshua 1:8) — God's Word provides wisdom and direction for daily living.

c. Listen To God In Prayer (Psalm 46:10) — A healthy prayer life includes both speaking to God and becoming still enough to receive His direction.

d. Practise What Scripture Teaches (James 1:22) — Spiritual knowledge becomes fruitful when it is translated into obedient action.

Biblical Example: Jesus often withdrew to quiet places to pray while continuing His ministry to people, demonstrating the importance of balancing public service with private fellowship with the Father (Luke 5:15-16).

4. BALANCE SERVICE WITH PERSONAL DEVOTION

Ministry is important, but service must never replace intimacy with God.

a. Serve The Lord Faithfully (Romans 12:11) — Believers should remain diligent and passionate in serving God.

b. Sit At Jesus' Feet (Luke 10:39) — Mary demonstrated the importance of listening to Jesus rather than becoming completely consumed by activity.

c. Avoid Excessive Busyness (Luke 10:40-42) — Martha's service was valuable, but Jesus showed that spiritual priorities must not be neglected.

d. Serve From A Healthy Spiritual Life (John 15:5) — Fruitful service flows from abiding in Christ rather than human effort alone.

Biblical Example: Jesus served multitudes but regularly withdrew from the crowds to pray, demonstrating the balance between ministry to people and communion with God (Mark 1:35-38).

5. BUILD HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

A balanced Christian life includes healthy relationships with family, church members, friends, and the wider community.

a. Love One Another (John 13:34-35) — Christian love should be visible in our relationships.

b. Honour Others (Romans 12:10) — Believers should value and respect other people rather than living only for themselves.

c. Forgive One Another (Colossians 3:13) — Forgiveness protects relationships from bitterness and unnecessary division.

d. Pursue Peace (Romans 12:18) — Christians should make every reasonable effort to live peacefully with others.

Biblical Example: Aquila and Priscilla worked together as a couple, supported ministry, opened their home, and helped teach Apollos more accurately concerning the way of God (Acts 18:24-26).

6. BALANCE WORK, REST, AND RESPONSIBILITY

God did not create human beings to function without limits. Wise believers learn to work diligently while recognising the need for rest and renewal.

a. Work Diligently (Proverbs 14:23) — Honest labour produces value and should not be replaced by empty talk.

b. Recognise The Need For Rest (Mark 6:31) — Jesus instructed His disciples to come apart and rest after intense ministry activity.

c. Observe Proper Seasons (Ecclesiastes 3:1) — Life contains different seasons, and wisdom recognises what is appropriate in each one.

d. Trust God Instead Of Living In Anxiety (Matthew 6:25-34) — Constant anxiety can consume the heart, but trust in God's provision brings proper perspective.

Biblical Example: Elijah became exhausted after intense spiritual activity, and God provided food, rest, and renewed direction before sending him forward again (1 Kings 19:1-18).

7. DEVELOP EMOTIONAL AND SPIRITUAL MATURITY

Balance also requires learning how to respond to emotions, pressure, disappointment, and success in a godly manner.

a. Control Your Spirit (Proverbs 16:32) — Self-control is greater than uncontrolled anger or impulsive reactions.

b. Cast Your Cares On God (1 Peter 5:7) — Believers can give their anxieties to God because He cares for them.

c. Rejoice And Give Thanks (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) — Joy and gratitude help believers maintain a healthy spiritual perspective.

d. Walk In The Fruit Of The Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) — The Holy Spirit develops qualities that enable believers to respond to life with greater maturity.

Biblical Example: David experienced fear, grief, rejection, and pressure, yet repeatedly brought his emotions before God and strengthened himself in the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6; Psalm 42:5).

8. LET CHRIST GOVERN EVERY AREA OF YOUR LIFE

True balance is achieved when every part of life comes under the authority of Christ.

a. Present Your Whole Life To God (Romans 12:1) — Christian worship includes offering our entire lives to God.

b. Do Everything For God's Glory (1 Corinthians 10:31) — Eating, drinking, working, serving, and living should all be directed toward God's glory.

c. Let The Peace Of Christ Rule (Colossians 3:15) — God's peace should guide our hearts and relationships.

d. Grow In Every Area (Luke 2:52) — Jesus increased in wisdom, stature, and favour with God and people, providing a picture of wholesome development.

Biblical Example: Jesus grew in wisdom, physical development, spiritual favour, and relationships, demonstrating a life of wholesome and well-rounded development (Luke 2:52).

CONCLUSION

A balanced Christian life is not a life where everything receives equal attention; it is a life where everything is placed in proper order under the Lordship of Christ. God must remain first, while family, work, ministry, relationships, rest, personal development, and other responsibilities are handled with wisdom and discipline.

Do not allow one area of life to destroy another. Do not become so busy serving that you neglect God, so focused on work that you neglect your family, or so concerned about earthly responsibilities that you lose your spiritual peace. Let Christ guide your priorities, strengthen your relationships, regulate your emotions, and direct your service. As you live in balance, you will become more fruitful, stable, healthy, and effective for God's kingdom.
