THE POWER OF A MADE-UP MIND

Title: THE POWER OF A MADE-UP MIND

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Daniel 1:8
Supporting Texts: Joshua 24:15; Ruth 1:16-18; Philippians 3:13-14

INTRODUCTION:
The power of decision is one of the strongest forces given to humanity. A made-up mind is an unshakable resolve to pursue a course of action without turning back, no matter the opposition. When we make up our minds to follow God, align with His purpose, and stay on His path, we unlock divine strength and focus to achieve His will for our lives.

1. MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE

a) Choosing God above all:
When Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the king’s food, he set himself apart for God’s purpose (Daniel 1:8).

b) Living a life of obedience:
A made-up mind ensures unwavering obedience to God’s instructions, even when it’s inconvenient.

c) Relying on divine strength:
Our decisions invite God's power to sustain us in our resolve (Philippians 4:13).

d) Overcoming distractions:
A resolute mind is not swayed by the opinions or temptations of the world.

Biblical Example: Joshua chose to serve the Lord, declaring, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (Joshua 24:15).

2. THE IMPACT OF A MADE-UP MIND

a) Breaking barriers:
Ruth’s unwavering commitment to follow Naomi led her into a life of divine favour and the lineage of Jesus (Ruth 1:16-18).

b) Achieving the extraordinary:
Those with a resolute mind press on to achieve great things in Christ (Philippians 3:13-14).

c) Inspiring others:
Your firm resolve to follow God can lead others to make the same commitment.

d) Receiving divine rewards:
God honours those who are steadfast in their decision to obey Him (Hebrews 11:6).

Biblical Example: Paul’s determination to preach Christ, despite severe persecution, impacted countless lives (Acts 20:24).

3. CHALLENGES TO A MADE-UP MIND

a) Opposition and persecution:
The enemy will test your resolve, as seen with Daniel and his friends in Babylon.

b) Doubt and fear:
Satan often tries to plant doubt to weaken your decisions, but God’s promises are sure (Isaiah 41:10).

c) Worldly distractions:
The pleasures of life can tempt believers away from their commitments.

d) Pressure to conform:
A made-up mind resists the pressures to conform to societal norms that contradict God's Word.

Biblical Example: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image, even under threat of death (Daniel 3:16-18).

4. HOW TO MAKE UP YOUR MIND FOR GOD

a) Seek God’s will:
Spend time in prayer and the Word to understand God’s purpose for you.

b) Stay focused on Christ:
Keep your eyes on Jesus, who is the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).

c) Surround yourself with godly influences:
Fellowship with like-minded believers who will encourage your walk with God.

d) Depend on the Holy Spirit:
He empowers us to remain steadfast and strengthens our resolve.

Biblical Example: Jesus’ determination to fulfill His mission, even unto death, is the ultimate example of a made-up mind (Luke 22:42).

5. BLESSINGS OF A MADE-UP MIND

a) Peace and clarity:
A focused mind enjoys the peace of God, free from confusion and indecision.

b) Divine backing:
God fights for those who are resolute in their stand for Him.

c) Victory over the enemy:
The devil cannot sway a heart wholly committed to God (James 4:7).

d) Eternal reward:
A made-up mind leads to eternal joy and fellowship with God (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

Biblical Example: Esther’s decision to risk her life for her people led to a great deliverance (Esther 4:16).

CONCLUSION:
A made-up mind is a powerful force in the kingdom of God. It positions us for divine favour, breakthroughs, and victory. Decide today to follow God wholeheartedly, and nothing will be able to stop His plans for your life.
