INTRODUCTION:
Ending well is the ultimate goal of every believer. It signifies fulfilling God’s purpose and finishing the race of life with honour, faith, and victory. Many start well but fail to end well due to various distractions, challenges, and failures. The power to end well comes from staying connected to God, living a life of purpose, and relying on His grace. This sermon explores how to access and walk in the power to end well.
1. UNDERSTANDING WHAT IT MEANS TO END WELL
a) Fulfilling God’s purpose
Ending well means completing the assignment God has given (Acts 20:24).
b) Living a life of faith and obedience
Faithfulness to God ensures a glorious end (Hebrews 11:6).
c) Maintaining spiritual integrity
A righteous life leads to peace at the end (Psalm 37:37).
d) Leaving a godly legacy
A good name is better than riches (Proverbs 22:1).
e) Biblical Example: Paul finished his race and kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
2. KEYS TO ACCESSING THE POWER TO END WELL
a) Staying focused on Christ
Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).
b) Walking in God’s purpose
Understanding and living out your calling ensures fulfilment (Jeremiah 1:5).
c) Maintaining spiritual discipline
Discipline in prayer, fasting, and the Word leads to strength (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).
d) Relying on God’s grace
It is not by might but by the Spirit of the Lord (Zechariah 4:6).
e) Biblical Example: Noah fulfilled God’s purpose by building the ark and saving his family (Genesis 6:22).
3. HINDRANCES TO ENDING WELL
a) Distractions and worldly desires
Love for the world can derail a believer’s race (1 John 2:15-17).
b) Lack of perseverance
Many fall short due to weariness in their journey (Galatians 6:9).
c) Sin and compromise
Sin separates us from God and hinders progress (Isaiah 59:2).
d) Pride and self-reliance
Pride leads to downfall; humility is key (Proverbs 16:18).
e) Biblical Example: King Saul started well but ended poorly due to disobedience and pride (1 Samuel 15:23).
4. BENEFITS OF ENDING WELL
a) Eternal rewards
A crown of righteousness awaits those who finish well (2 Timothy 4:8).
b) Fulfilment of destiny
Fulfilling God’s purpose brings joy and peace (Philippians 3:14).
c) A godly legacy
Ending well leaves an example for others to follow (2 Chronicles 34:33).
d) Assurance of eternal life
Those who endure to the end will be saved (Matthew 24:13).
e) Biblical Example: Enoch walked with God and ended well by being taken up to heaven (Genesis 5:24).
5. HOW TO SUSTAIN THE POWER TO END WELL
a) Abide in Christ
Staying connected to Jesus is key to fruitfulness (John 15:4-5).
b) Cultivate a life of prayer
Prayer strengthens and keeps you aligned with God (Luke 18:1).
c) Surround yourself with godly influences
Fellowship with other believers encourages faithfulness (Hebrews 10:25).
d) Keep an eternal perspective
Focus on the things above and not on earthly distractions (Colossians 3:2).
