INTRODUCTION:
Divine preservation speaks of God's ability to keep and protect His children from all forms of danger, harm, or destruction. It is God’s power that shields His people in the midst of storms, challenges, and the attacks of the enemy. This message will explore how God preserves His own, providing comfort and assurance that He is ever-present to safeguard us in all circumstances.
1. GOD IS OUR SHIELD AND DEFENDER
a) God's Protection from All Evil
Psalm 121:7 assures us that God will keep us from all evil; His eyes are always watching over us.
b) God’s Refuge for the Righteous
In Psalm 91:1-4, we learn that those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High are covered under His wings of protection.
c) Protection from Seen and Unseen Dangers
God's preservation extends to dangers both visible and invisible, including spiritual attacks (Psalm 91:5-6).
d) God as Our Defender
He is the one who fights our battles and defends us from the forces of darkness (Exodus 14:14).
Biblical Example:
The protection of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace is a powerful example of divine preservation (Daniel 3:23-27).
2. GOD’S PRESENCE THROUGH THE STORMS OF LIFE
a) God is Present in the Midst of Trouble
Isaiah 43:2 shows us that when we pass through the waters and fire, God is with us, ensuring that we are not overwhelmed.
b) God’s Power to Preserve in the Midst of Adversity
Even in the face of great trials, God keeps His people intact, as seen in the life of Job (Job 1:10).
c) Protection from Harm and Calamity
The hand of God preserves His people from calamities, ensuring their safety and well-being (Psalm 46:1).
d) Assurance of God’s Presence
God’s promise to be with us always gives us the confidence to trust Him for divine preservation (Matthew 28:20).
Biblical Example:
Paul’s shipwreck and subsequent survival illustrate God’s presence in the midst of life-threatening situations (Acts 27:22-24).
3. GOD PRESERVES THE RIGHTEOUS FROM THE ENEMY
a) Deliverance from the Plots of the Enemy
God frustrates the plans of the wicked and preserves His people from the hands of their enemies (Psalm 34:17).
b) Protection from Spiritual Attacks
Divine preservation shields believers from the attacks of the devil, ensuring their spiritual safety (Ephesians 6:11).
c) God is Faithful to Preserve His People
2 Thessalonians 3:3 reminds us that God is faithful, and He will strengthen and guard us from the evil one.
d) God’s Intervention Against Oppression
When the enemy rises up against God’s children, He intervenes to deliver them from all forms of oppression (Isaiah 59:19).
Biblical Example:
Daniel in the lion’s den is a powerful example of God’s preservation from the schemes of enemies (Daniel 6:16-22).
4. THE ROLE OF FAITH IN DIVINE PRESERVATION
a) Faith Activates Divine Preservation
Faith in God’s protection brings about His intervention in times of trouble (Hebrews 11:33-34).
b) Trusting in God’s Unfailing Power
Trusting God’s ability to preserve us releases His power in our lives (Proverbs 3:5-6).
c) Dependence on God’s Word for Safety
God's word is a fortress of protection for believers who rely on it for safety (Psalm 119:114).
d) Walking in Obedience Brings Protection
Obedience to God’s instructions leads to divine protection, as seen in the life of Noah (Genesis 6:22).
Biblical Example:
The Passover in Egypt is an example of how faith in God’s word provided divine preservation from death (Exodus 12:12-13).
5. PRAYING FOR DIVINE PRESERVATION
a) Prayer as a Tool for Preservation
Prayer invites God’s protective power into our lives, securing us from harm (Psalm 91:15).
b) Seeking God’s Help for Protection
When we seek God in prayer, He responds by surrounding us with His preservation (Psalm 17:8).
c) Praying for Divine Intervention in Times of Trouble
In moments of distress, prayer is the key that unlocks divine intervention and deliverance (Psalm 50:15).
d) Believing God’s Promises of Protection
Praying the promises of God’s protection over our lives ensures His continuous preservation (Psalm 18:30).
Biblical Example:
Hezekiah’s prayer for protection from the Assyrian army resulted in divine preservation as God defeated the enemy (2 Kings 19:14-19, 35).
CONCLUSION:
Divine preservation is God’s promise to protect and safeguard His children from all harm. Whether in the midst of spiritual battles, life’s adversities, or the plots of enemies, we can trust in God’s unfailing ability to preserve us.
