OUR MONTH OF COVENANT

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Psalm 105:8
Supporting Texts: Deuteronomy 7:9, Genesis 17:7, Hebrews 8:6, Isaiah 54:10

INTRODUCTION:
This month is declared our "Month of Covenant," a time to reflect on and claim God’s enduring promises. God's covenant is unbreakable, a divine agreement that stands through generations. When we walk in this covenant, His blessings, protection, and promises are made manifest in our lives. Let us trust in the faithfulness of the covenant-keeping God, knowing that His promises remain steadfast.

1. THE NATURE OF GOD’S COVENANT

a) Everlasting Covenant
God’s covenant is eternal, established for all who walk in obedience to Him (Genesis 17:7).

b) Unchanging Promises
God’s word does not change, and He is bound by His promises.

c) Covenant of Grace and Mercy
God’s covenant extends mercy to a thousand generations (Deuteronomy 7:9).

d) Assurance of Blessing
Through His covenant, God assures us of blessings in every area of our lives.

e) Biblical Example: Noah (Genesis 9:8-17) - God’s promise to never destroy the earth by flood, a sign of His enduring faithfulness.

2. THE BLESSINGS OF THE COVENANT

a) Covenant of Provision
God promises abundance, even in times of difficulty (Psalm 37:19).

b) Covenant of Protection
His covenant shields us from evil and danger (Psalm 91:10).

c) Covenant of Fruitfulness
God promises fruitfulness in every area of our lives (Genesis 1:28).

d) Covenant of Peace
His peace guards us, free from turmoil and fear (Isaiah 54:10).

e) Biblical Example: Abraham (Genesis 17:1-5) - God’s covenant brought Abraham blessings, land, and a promise of nations.

3. LIVING IN COVENANT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

a) Obedience as Our Part
The blessings of the covenant are unlocked by our obedience (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).

b) Faithfulness to God’s Word
We are called to hold fast to His Word, fulfilling our part in the covenant.

c) Trusting in God’s Faithfulness
Faith in God's unchanging nature strengthens our covenant walk.

d) Receiving Covenant Promises by Faith
All covenant blessings are received by faith in Jesus Christ.

e) Biblical Example: The Israelites at Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:5-6) - God called Israel into a covenant relationship, setting them apart as His people.

CONCLUSION:
As we step into this month of covenant, let us be reminded that God’s promises are certain. He is the covenant-keeping God, whose Word remains true forever. May we walk faithfully in His covenant, assured of His blessing, provision, and protection.
