LIVING YOUR DREAM

TITLE: LIVING YOUR DREAM

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Genesis 37:5-11
Supporting Texts: Jeremiah 29:11, Psalm 37:4, Proverbs 16:3

INTRODUCTION:
Every person carries a God-given dream or purpose in their hearts. Living your dream requires faith, perseverance, and reliance on God. Joseph’s life gives us a clear blueprint on how to live out the dream God has placed within us. In this sermon, we will explore key principles for living your dream and overcoming obstacles along the way.

1. BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAM

a) God-Given Vision:
Your dream is birthed from God’s purpose for your life. Joseph had a divine dream (Genesis 37:5).

b) Faith in the Promise:
It takes faith to believe in a dream, even when circumstances seem contrary (Hebrews 11:1).

c) Purpose Driven:
Your dream gives you direction and a sense of purpose (Jeremiah 29:11).

d) Divine Timing:
God’s timing is essential for the fulfillment of your dream (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

Biblical Example:
Joseph believed in his dream despite the challenges he faced from his brothers (Genesis 37:9-11).

2. OVERCOME ADVERSITY

a) Challenges Will Come:
Living your dream doesn’t mean a life without obstacles (John 16:33).

b) Persevere Through Setbacks:
Like Joseph, you may face betrayal or hardship, but God is working behind the scenes (Genesis 39:20-21).

c) Faithful in Trials:
Joseph remained faithful even when he was imprisoned. God honours perseverance (James 1:12).

d) Stay Focused on the Dream:
Never allow temporary difficulties to distract you from your ultimate purpose (Philippians 3:13-14).

Biblical Example:
Joseph was sold into slavery and imprisoned, yet he remained steadfast, eventually becoming the ruler of Egypt (Genesis 41:41).

3. WALK IN INTEGRITY

a) Integrity and Character Matter:
Living your dream requires walking in integrity, as Joseph did, even when no one was watching (Genesis 39:7-9).

b) Honour God in All You Do:
A dream is worth nothing if it costs you your character (Proverbs 10:9).

c) Resist Temptation:
Joseph resisted the temptation from Potiphar’s wife because he feared God (Genesis 39:10-12).

d) Trust God’s Process:
God's process may involve tests of character, but they prepare you for your destiny (Romans 5:3-4).

Biblical Example:
Joseph maintained his integrity throughout his journey, which led to God’s favour on his life (Genesis 41:39-44).

4. WAIT FOR GOD’S TIMING

a) God’s Timing is Perfect:
While Joseph had a dream at 17, it took many years for it to come to pass (Genesis 41:46).

b) Don’t Rush the Process:
Avoid impatience; rushing ahead can delay or damage the fulfillment of your dream (Isaiah 40:31).

c) Trust God’s Sovereignty:
He works all things together for your good and His glory (Romans 8:28).

d) Prepare While Waiting:
Use the waiting period to grow and prepare for the manifestation of your dream (Luke 2:52).

Biblical Example:
Joseph waited patiently, and in God’s perfect timing, he was promoted to second-in-command of Egypt (Genesis 41:39-46).

5. FULFILL YOUR DREAM WITH HUMILITY

a) Give God the Glory:
When your dream manifests, acknowledge that it is God’s doing, not yours (Proverbs 3:5-6).

b) Stay Humble:
Pride can cause a downfall; humility ensures longevity in fulfilling your dream (James 4:10).

c) Use Your Dream to Bless Others:
Joseph’s dream not only benefited him but also saved nations during the famine (Genesis 50:20).

d) Continue to Serve:
Even after your dream is fulfilled, serve others and remain grounded in God’s purpose (Matthew 23:11).

Biblical Example:
Joseph remained humble and continued to serve his family and Egypt even after becoming a leader (Genesis 45:4-7).

CONCLUSION:
Living your dream is not just about the destination but the journey. Like Joseph, you will face challenges, but with faith, perseverance, integrity, and humility, God will bring your dreams to pass in His perfect timing. Trust in Him, and He will fulfil the vision He has placed within your heart.
