ATMOSPHERE FOR MIRACLES

TITLE: ATMOSPHERE FOR MIRACLES

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Acts 2:1-4
Supporting Texts: Mark 5:35-42, Matthew 13:58, Luke 8:43-48

INTRODUCTION:
The atmosphere is a key factor in determining whether or not miracles can take place. Just as certain physical conditions are necessary for life to thrive, there are spiritual conditions that must be present for miracles to manifest. In the Bible, we see that an atmosphere of faith, worship, unity, and expectation often precedes the miraculous intervention of God. This sermon will explore the elements that create an atmosphere conducive to miracles and how we can cultivate such an environment in our lives, families, and churches.

1. FAITH: THE CATALYST FOR MIRACLES

a) Faith activates the power of God
Faith is the foundation for receiving miracles. Without faith, it is impossible to please God or experience His miraculous power (Hebrews 11:6).

b) Miracles occur where faith is present
Jesus often told those who were healed, "Your faith has made you well" (Matthew 9:22). Miracles happen when people believe.

c) Faith overcomes doubt and fear
A miracle-attracting atmosphere is one where doubt and fear are eliminated, and faith in God’s power prevails (Mark 5:36).

d) Faith comes by hearing the Word of God
To build an atmosphere of miracles, we must fill our environment with the Word, which strengthens faith (Romans 10:17).

Biblical Example: When Jesus healed the woman with the issue of blood, her faith drew the power of God to perform the miracle (Luke 8:43-48).

2. WORSHIP: INVITING GOD'S PRESENCE

a) Worship creates a dwelling place for God
God inhabits the praises of His people, and where God’s presence is, miracles happen (Psalm 22:3).

b) Worship invites the supernatural
In worship, we shift our focus from the natural to the supernatural, setting the stage for divine intervention (John 4:24).

c) Worship shifts the atmosphere
When we worship, we elevate our spiritual atmosphere, breaking through limitations and welcoming the Holy Spirit (2 Chronicles 5:13-14).

d) Worship prepares the heart for a miracle
As we worship, our hearts are aligned with God’s will, making us more receptive to His miracles (Acts 16:25-26).

Biblical Example: Paul and Silas worshipped in prison, and their praise created an atmosphere for a miraculous earthquake that broke their chains (Acts 16:25-26).

3. UNITY: ALIGNING HEARTS FOR GOD'S POWER

a) Unity precedes an outpouring of God’s power
The disciples were united in one accord before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:1).

b) Division blocks miracles
Strife, division, and disunity hinder the flow of the miraculous because God blesses where there is unity (Psalm 133:1-3).

c) Corporate faith creates an atmosphere for miracles
When believers come together in unity and agreement, God’s power is released (Matthew 18:19-20).

d) Unity stirs up expectation
When the body of Christ is united, there is a collective expectation that draws the miraculous (Acts 4:32-33).

Biblical Example: The outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2 happened in an atmosphere of unity among the believers.

4. EXPECTATION: POSITIONING FOR THE SUPERNATURAL

a) Expectation draws the miraculous
God responds to the level of our expectation. Where there is no expectation, there is little or no manifestation of miracles (Acts 3:5).

b) Expectation is fueled by hope
Hope in God’s promises creates an environment of expectation for His supernatural intervention (Romans 5:5).

c) The power of expectation creates a pull on heaven
When we expect something from God, we create a demand on His power to show up (Luke 7:9).

d) Lack of expectation limits the miraculous
In Nazareth, Jesus could not perform many miracles due to the people's lack of expectation and unbelief (Matthew 13:58).

Biblical Example: The lame man at the temple gate expected to receive something from Peter and John, and his expectation led to a miraculous healing (Acts 3:4-6).

5. THE HOLY SPIRIT: THE SOURCE OF ALL MIRACLES

a) The Holy Spirit is the agent of miracles
All miracles are wrought by the power of the Holy Spirit, who is the source of God’s supernatural intervention (Acts 10:38).

b) The Holy Spirit moves in an atmosphere of surrender
When we surrender to the Holy Spirit, He moves freely to perform signs and wonders (2 Corinthians 3:17).

c) The gifts of the Spirit facilitate miracles
The Holy Spirit imparts the gifts of healing, miracles, and faith, which are instrumental in creating an atmosphere for miracles (1 Corinthians 12:9-10).

d) The Spirit responds to our faith-filled declarations
Miracles happen when we speak by faith in alignment with the Holy Spirit’s promptings (Mark 11:23-24).

Biblical Example: Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, performed many miracles in the early church, including healing the lame man at the Beautiful Gate (Acts 3:6-8).

CONCLUSION:
Creating an atmosphere for miracles requires intentionality. It is cultivated through faith, worship, unity, expectation, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. When these elements are in place, the supernatural becomes a reality, and God’s power is released to heal, deliver, and perform miracles in our midst. As we build and maintain an atmosphere conducive to miracles, we will see the hand of God move mightily in our lives and in the lives of those around us.
