By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: John 15:4-5
Supporting Texts: Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 2:10-12, Psalm 25:14
INTRODUCTION:
The supernatural is the realm where God operates beyond the natural laws of the physical world. To experience and manifest the supernatural in our lives, we must develop an intimate relationship with God through His Spirit. This sermon explores how believers can cultivate intimacy with the supernatural and experience God's divine power and presence in their everyday lives.
1. UNDERSTANDING INTIMACY WITH GOD
a) What It Means to Be Intimate with God
Intimacy with God means having a close, personal relationship with Him through fellowship, worship, and obedience (Psalm 25:14).
b) The Importance of Abiding in Christ
Jesus teaches that without abiding in Him, we can do nothing, but through intimacy with Him, we bear much fruit (John 15:4-5).
c) Cultivating Fellowship with the Holy Spirit
Intimacy with the supernatural begins with the Holy Spirit, who reveals the deep things of God to us (1 Corinthians 2:10-12).
d) The Role of Obedience in Intimacy
Walking in obedience to God’s Word deepens our intimacy with Him and allows us to experience His supernatural power (John 14:23).
Biblical Example:
Enoch’s close walk with God was so intimate that he was taken up to heaven without seeing death (Genesis 5:24).
2. THE POWER OF PRAYER IN SUPERNATURAL INTIMACY
a) Prayer as the Gateway to the Supernatural
Through prayer, we enter into God's presence and access His power for supernatural intervention (Acts 4:31).
b) Praying in the Spirit
Praying in the Holy Spirit enhances our connection with God and opens us to divine mysteries (Romans 8:26-27).
c) The Power of Persistent Prayer
Jesus taught about the power of persistent prayer in accessing supernatural breakthroughs (Luke 18:1-8).
d) Intercession for Supernatural Encounters
When we intercede for others, God responds with supernatural manifestations and deliverance (Acts 12:5-7).
Biblical Example:
Elijah’s prayer for rain resulted in supernatural intervention after three and a half years of drought (1 Kings 18:42-45).
3. FAITH AND SUPERNATURAL MANIFESTATIONS
a) Faith as the Key to the Supernatural
Faith is the currency of the supernatural, and without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).
b) Faith Activates God’s Power
Through faith, we pull down God’s supernatural power to work in our situations (Mark 11:22-24).
c) Faith Releases Miracles and Wonders
Faith releases miracles, healings, and supernatural wonders, just as seen in the ministry of Jesus (Mark 5:34).
d) Daring Faith in the Face of Challenges
God honours bold and daring faith by showing up supernaturally in impossible situations (Matthew 14:29).
Biblical Example:
The faith of the woman with the issue of blood activated a supernatural healing from Jesus (Mark 5:25-34).
4. WORSHIP AND THE SUPERNATURAL PRESENCE OF GOD
a) Worship Brings God’s Presence
When we worship God in spirit and truth, His supernatural presence fills our lives and environments (John 4:23-24).
b) Worship as a Weapon for the Supernatural
Worship is a powerful weapon that invites God’s supernatural intervention in battles (2 Chronicles 20:21-22).
c) Worship and Divine Encounters
Many divine encounters and supernatural experiences happen in moments of worship (Isaiah 6:1-4).
d) The Sacrifice of Worship
Offering worship in difficult seasons invites the supernatural power of God to bring breakthrough (Acts 16:25-26).
Biblical Example:
Paul and Silas experienced a supernatural earthquake that opened prison doors while they worshipped (Acts 16:25-26).
5. LIVING IN SUPERNATURAL EXPECTATION
a) Expecting the Supernatural Every Day
Living in expectation of God's supernatural power creates an atmosphere for miracles and divine intervention (Ephesians 3:20).
b) Walking in the Power of the Holy Spirit
As believers, we are called to live in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, demonstrating supernatural power (Acts 1:8).
c) Boldly Declaring God’s Promises
Speaking God’s promises in faith releases supernatural power to bring them to pass (Romans 4:17).
d) Partnering with God for Supernatural Results
God wants to work through us to demonstrate His supernatural power on the earth (Mark 16:17-18).
Biblical Example:
Peter, walking in expectation of the supernatural, performed miracles, including healing the sick with his shadow (Acts 5:15-16).
CONCLUSION:
Intimacy with the supernatural is possible for every believer who seeks to deepen their relationship with God. Through prayer, worship, faith, and obedience, we access God’s supernatural power and presence in our lives. When we live in expectation of the supernatural, God will manifest His power in extraordinary ways.
