BACK TO SENDER

Title: BACK TO SENDER

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Proverbs 26:27
Supporting Texts: Psalm 7:15-16; Esther 7:9-10; Matthew 7:2

INTRODUCTION:
The concept of "Back to Sender" is based on the principle that those who plan evil against others often face the consequences of their actions. Proverbs 26:27 highlights this: "Whoever digs a pit will fall into it; if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them." In this message, we will explore how God turns the plots of the wicked back onto them, reminding us of His justice and protection over His children.

1. THE PRINCIPLE OF DIVINE JUSTICE

a) God's Retributive Justice:
God is just and ensures that the wicked are repaid for their actions. He doesn't ignore injustice but addresses it in His time and way.

b) The Pit Principle:
Evil schemes are like pits dug by the wicked to trap others, yet they often fall into those traps themselves (Psalm 7:15-16).

c) The Boomerang Effect:
Evil that one sends out often returns to them. Jesus mentioned, "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you" (Matthew 7:2).

d) God's Shield for His People:
God is a shield to His people, protecting them from harm and reversing evil schemes (Psalm 5:12).

Biblical Example: Haman in Esther 7:9-10. Haman built gallows for Mordecai but was ultimately hanged on it himself.

2. GOD'S VINDICATION OF THE RIGHTEOUS

a) God Fights for His People:
God defends His own. When others plot evil, God stands as the defender of His people (Exodus 14:14).

b) The Righteous Are Secure:
Even when surrounded by enemies, God protects and delivers the righteous (Psalm 34:19).

c) No Weapon Shall Prosper:
Weapons formed against the righteous will not succeed (Isaiah 54:17).

d) Judgment Upon the Wicked:
God brings justice against the wicked who attempt to harm His people (Psalm 37:12-15).

Biblical Example: Daniel in Daniel 6. His enemies schemed against him, but God shut the lions' mouths, and Daniel's accusers were thrown to the lions instead.

3. RETURNING EVIL TO THE SOURCE

a) God’s Principle of Reciprocity:
God allows evil to return to its source as a form of justice (Psalm 109:17-20).

b) The Example of Pharaoh:
Pharaoh pursued Israel into the Red Sea, only to be drowned by the waters he sought to trap them with (Exodus 14:26-28).

c) Overcoming Evil with Good:
While we don’t take vengeance ourselves, God’s justice ensures that evil does not prevail (Romans 12:19).

d) God's Hand in Deliverance:
God's intervention is a reminder of His power over every adversary.

Biblical Example: The Egyptians’ Pursuit of Israel (Exodus 14).

4. RELYING ON GOD'S JUSTICE

a) Trusting in God’s Timing:
We are to wait on God’s timing, knowing that He will bring justice in due course (Psalm 27:14).

b) Living Uprightly:
The righteous need not fear, for God rewards those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11).

c) Faith in Divine Intervention:
Our faith assures us that God will intervene when we are oppressed.

d) Praising God Amidst Battles:
Praising God even when confronted by evil shows our trust in His justice.

Biblical Example: Jehoshaphat's Victory in 2 Chronicles 20. His enemies were defeated by God’s intervention as the people praised Him.

5. STAYING UNDER GOD'S PROTECTION

a) The Safety of Abiding in God:
Those who dwell in God’s presence are shielded from harm (Psalm 91:1-2).

b) Resisting Evil with Faith:
Stand firm against evil, and God will protect and defend (James 4:7).

c) Walking in Love and Forgiveness:
We overcome by choosing love and forgiveness, trusting God to handle vengeance.

d) Invoking God's Promises:
Praying the promises of God ensures divine protection over our lives.

Biblical Example: Paul's Escape from a Deadly Plot (Acts 23:12-24).

CONCLUSION:
Evil may be plotted against the righteous, but God ensures that such plans backfire on those who conceive them. Let us walk uprightly, trusting in God’s justice and protection, for He is faithful to deliver His people.
