INTRODUCTION:
In our spiritual journey, there comes a time when God calls us to break new grounds—stepping out of our comfort zones and into the new things He has prepared for us. This sermon will explore how we can embrace change, overcome obstacles, and experience the fullness of God's promises in our lives.
1. UNDERSTANDING THE CALL TO BREAK NEW GROUNDS
a) God’s Promise of New Beginnings
God assures us in Isaiah 43:19 that He is doing a new thing, which invites us to leave the past behind and embrace the future.
b) The Importance of Spiritual Growth
Breaking new grounds often requires spiritual maturity and readiness to grow (Philippians 3:13-14).
c) Recognizing Old Patterns
Acknowledging the limitations of past experiences can help us prepare for new opportunities (Isaiah 43:18).
d) Understanding God's Timing
God’s timing is perfect; we must trust Him as we step into the new (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
Biblical Example:
Abraham’s call to leave his homeland (Genesis 12:1-3) demonstrates the importance of obedience in breaking new grounds.
2. PREPARING FOR THE NEW THING
a) Prayer and Fasting
Seeking God’s guidance through prayer and fasting positions us to receive His direction (Matthew 17:21).
b) Building Faith
Strengthening our faith helps us overcome doubts and fears associated with new ventures (Hebrews 11:1).
c) Stepping Out of Comfort Zones
Growth often requires us to leave our comfort zones and embrace uncertainty (Matthew 14:29-30).
d) Aligning with God's Will
Ensuring that our plans align with God’s purpose leads to success (Proverbs 16:3).
Biblical Example:
The Israelites preparing to enter the Promised Land (Joshua 1:2-3), showcasing their readiness to claim new territory.
3. OVERCOMING OBSTACLES ON THE JOURNEY
a) Facing Doubt and Fear
Doubts and fears may arise, but we must remind ourselves of God’s promises (Isaiah 41:10).
b) Dealing with Opposition
Opposition is inevitable when breaking new grounds; we must be prepared to face it with courage (Nehemiah 4:14).
c) Perseverance in Challenges
Maintaining perseverance during trials is crucial for breakthrough (James 1:2-4).
d) Trusting God’s Provision
We can trust that God will provide for our needs as we step out in faith (Philippians 4:19).
Biblical Example:
David facing Goliath (1 Samuel 17:45-47), illustrating how to confront obstacles with faith in God.
4. EMBRACING THE NEW THINGS GOD HAS FOR US
a) Receiving God’s New Mercies
Each day is an opportunity to experience God’s new mercies (Lamentations 3:22-23).
b) Walking in Newness of Life
Accepting our identity in Christ empowers us to walk in newness of life (2 Corinthians 5:17).
c) Engaging in New Assignments
God may lead us to new ministries, careers, or relationships that require our obedience (Ephesians 2:10).
d) Celebrating Small Victories
Recognizing and celebrating progress encourages continued growth (Philippians 4:4).
Biblical Example:
The woman at the well (John 4:28-30), who embraced her new identity in Christ and became a witness for Him.
5. DECLARING BREAKTHROUGH IN NEW GROUNDS
a) Proclaiming God's Word
Declaring God’s promises over our lives propels us into new dimensions (Isaiah 55:11).
b) Engaging in Faith Declarations
Speaking words of faith creates an atmosphere for breakthroughs (Mark 11:23-24).
c) Community Support
Surrounding ourselves with supportive believers can enhance our journey (Hebrews 10:24-25).
d) Anticipating God’s Move
Living with expectation encourages us to look for God's activity in our lives (Ephesians 3:20).
Biblical Example:
The early church’s prayer for boldness (Acts 4:29-31) demonstrates the power of communal faith in breaking new grounds.
