INTRODUCTION:
The burial of one’s troublers symbolises a final and complete end to opposition, struggles, and persistent problems. In scripture, God often intervened to bring an end to the threats against His people, demonstrating that He is a mighty defender. Today, we will look at how God silences the adversaries of His children, bringing freedom and peace to those who trust in Him.
1. GOD AS OUR DEFENDER
a) God’s Promise to Fight for Us
God assures His children that He will fight on their behalf (Exodus 14:14).
b) Trusting in Divine Protection
Believers are called to trust that God will keep them from harm (Psalm 91:1-4).
c) God’s Faithfulness in Times of Trouble
Even in the face of fierce opposition, God remains faithful to deliver (Isaiah 43:2).
d) God Silences Every Voice of the Enemy
The Lord quiets the accuser and defends His people (Isaiah 54:17).
e) Biblical Example: Israel’s Escape from Egypt – God drowned Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea, permanently silencing their threats (Exodus 14:27-28).
2. CONFRONTING SPIRITUAL OPPOSITION
a) Understanding Spiritual Warfare
Believers must recognise the spiritual nature of their battles (Ephesians 6:12).
b) Taking Authority in Christ
God gives His people authority over spiritual forces (Luke 10:19).
c) Speaking God’s Word Over Our Lives
The Word of God is a powerful weapon in overcoming opposition (Hebrews 4:12).
d) Relying on the Power of Prayer
Prayer is essential in seeking divine intervention against spiritual enemies (James 5:16).
e) Biblical Example: Jehoshaphat’s Victory – Through praise and reliance on God, Jehoshaphat witnessed his enemies being defeated without physical combat (2 Chronicles 20:21-24).
3. GOD’S JUDGMENT ON THE WICKED
a) God Does Not Tolerate Oppression
God’s justice brings an end to the wicked (Psalm 37:9-11).
b) The Destiny of the Wicked
Those who oppose God’s people face judgment (Psalm 1:4-6).
c) When God Arises, Enemies Scatter
The presence of God brings terror to His enemies (Psalm 68:1).
d) The Finality of Divine Judgment
When God judges, it brings a complete end to opposition (Nahum 1:9).
e) Biblical Example: Haman’s Downfall – God brought Haman’s evil plan to an end, bringing honour to Mordecai and the Jews (Esther 7:9-10).
4. HOW TO WALK IN VICTORY OVER TROUBLERS
a) Living a Righteous Life
The righteous are protected by God (Psalm 34:15-17).
b) Walking in Obedience to God
Obedience invites God’s covering and blessing (Deuteronomy 28:1-7).
c) Standing Firm in Faith
Faith in God strengthens us against all adversities (1 John 5:4).
d) Engaging in Praise and Worship
Praise invites God’s presence, causing enemies to flee (Psalm 22:3).
e) Biblical Example: Paul and Silas in Prison – Through prayer and praise, God released them from prison, confounding their enemies (Acts 16:25-26).
5. THE POWER OF GOD TO BURY EVERY OPPOSITION
a) God Turns Evil Plans to Good
God uses what the enemy meant for harm for the good of His people (Genesis 50:20).
b) Divine Intervention for Complete Deliverance
God delivers His people with a strong hand (Exodus 15:6).
c) Victory Through the Name of Jesus
The name of Jesus has power over every adversary (Philippians 2:9-11).
d) Hope in God’s Final Victory
Believers rest assured of victory because God is victorious (Romans 8:37).
e) Biblical Example: Daniel in the Lions’ Den – God shut the lions' mouths, preserving Daniel and removing his troublers (Daniel 6:22-24).
CONCLUSION:
The burial of our troublers is God’s way of giving His people complete and lasting victory. When we rely on God’s power, live righteously, and stand firm in faith, God will silence every adversary and bring us peace. Let us commit ourselves to God, trusting Him to deal with every challenge, no matter how fierce, for the battle belongs to the Lord.
