By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Job 42:10
Supporting Texts: Psalm 126:1-3, Romans 8:28, Genesis 50:20

INTRODUCTION:
Throughout Scripture, God has shown His ability to turn around the most challenging situations for His people. No matter the difficulty or delay, when God intervenes, He can reverse what seems irreversible and transform sorrow into joy. This message highlights God’s power to "turn it" in our favour, and how we can position ourselves to receive His divine turnaround.

1. TURNING SORROW INTO JOY

a) God’s Power Over Human Suffering
The Lord is able to replace sorrow with joy, showing His compassion and love (Psalm 30:5).

b) Hope in the Midst of Despair
Even in our darkest moments, we can trust God to bring us out of the pit of despair (Jeremiah 29:11).

c) God's Promise to Restore
God promises to restore what was lost, turning brokenness into blessing (Joel 2:25).

d) From Mourning to Rejoicing
He transforms grief into gladness as a testimony of His mercy (Isaiah 61:3).

Biblical Example: Job's Restoration – After Job’s trials, God turned his sorrow into joy, restoring him doubly (Job 42:10-12).

2. TURNING CAPTIVITY INTO FREEDOM

a) Breaking Chains and Bondage
God delivers His people from bondage, bringing freedom and deliverance (Psalm 107:14).

b) From Captivity to Liberty
When God turns captivity, He transforms oppression into liberty (Isaiah 61:1).

c) Divine Freedom Through Faith
Faith in God's promises allows us to see His delivering power (Hebrews 11:6).

d) Release from Spiritual and Physical Bondage
Jesus came to set captives free, turning lives around (Luke 4:18).

Biblical Example: Israel’s Freedom from Egypt – God turned Israel’s captivity into freedom, leading them out of Egypt with mighty miracles (Exodus 14:21-31).

3. TURNING LACK INTO ABUNDANCE

a) God’s Provision in Times of Need
God promises to supply every need, even in times of scarcity (Philippians 4:19).

b) Faith in God’s Abundance
We can trust God to turn lack into overflow by His divine provision (Psalm 23:1).

c) Gratitude and Obedience Open Doors
Thankfulness and obedience to God pave the way for His blessings (Luke 6:38).

d) Abundance Through Divine Multiplication
God multiplies what we have to meet and exceed our needs (John 6:11-13).

Biblical Example: The Widow at Zarephath – God turned her lack into abundance when she obeyed Elijah, providing oil and flour that never ran out (1 Kings 17:12-16).

4. TURNING SHAME INTO HONOUR

a) God Lifts the Humble
God turns shame into honour for those who trust in Him (Psalm 113:7-8).

b) Restoration of Dignity and Respect
He restores dignity to His people, removing shame (Isaiah 54:4).

c) Receiving God’s Honour in Place of Disgrace
God grants honour where the world may have given shame (1 Peter 2:6).

d) God's Vindication of His People
The Lord upholds and vindicates His own, bringing honour (Psalm 91:15).

Biblical Example: Esther’s Honour Over Haman – God turned the shame planned by Haman for Esther and Mordecai into honour, placing them in positions of influence (Esther 8:1-2).

5. TURNING DEFEAT INTO VICTORY

a) God Fights for His People
When we face battles, God turns what looks like defeat into victory (Exodus 14:14).

b) Strengthening the Weak to Overcome
Through God’s help, the weak become victorious (Isaiah 40:29).

c) Victory Through Faith in God’s Promises
Faith enables us to see God’s deliverance in battle (2 Chronicles 20:15).

d) God’s Intervention Changes Outcomes
What the enemy intended for evil, God turns for our good (Genesis 50:20).

Biblical Example: David’s Victory Over Goliath – With God’s help, David turned what seemed like an impossible defeat into a triumphant victory (1 Samuel 17:45-50).

CONCLUSION:
When we declare, “And the Lord turned it,” we recognise God’s supernatural ability to transform every situation, no matter how difficult or hopeless.
