Description: This study reveals God’s desire for believers to become channels of blessing by sharing the grace, mercy, gifts, and resources they have freely received from Him.

INTRODUCTION

In Matthew chapter 10, Jesus sent His disciples to preach the Kingdom, heal the sick, cleanse lepers, raise the dead, and cast out demons. After empowering them, He gave an important instruction: “Freely ye have received, freely give.”

This statement reveals an important Kingdom principle — God blesses His people not merely to keep blessings for themselves but to become vessels through which others are blessed. Salvation, grace, mercy, spiritual gifts, wisdom, provision, and opportunities are all gifts from God that should flow outward to others.

The Kingdom of God advances through generosity, compassion, service, and willingness to share what God has entrusted to us.

1. EVERYTHING WE HAVE COMES FROM GOD

Believers are recipients of divine grace and mercy.

a) The disciples freely received power and authority (Matthew 10:1,8)
God gives spiritual gifts and grace according to His mercy.

b) Salvation itself is a free gift (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Eternal life comes through God’s grace and not human effort.

c) Every good gift comes from God (James 1:17)
Blessings, abilities, opportunities, and resources originate from Him.

d) God blesses people abundantly (2 Corinthians 9:8)
The Lord provides sufficiently for every good work.

Biblical Example:
Solomon received wisdom freely from God and used it to lead and bless the nation of Israel (1 Kings 3:12-13).

2. GOD EXPECTS BELIEVERS TO BLESS OTHERS

Blessings are meant to flow through believers to others.

a) Jesus instructed the disciples to give freely (Matthew 10:8)
Kingdom ministry should flow from gratitude and generosity.

b) Believers are stewards, not owners (1 Peter 4:10)
God entrusts gifts and resources for service to others.

c) Generosity reflects God’s character (Luke 6:38)
Giving opens doors for greater blessings and impact.

d) Helping others pleases God (Hebrews 13:16)
Acts of kindness and compassion are spiritual sacrifices.

Biblical Example:
The early Church shared resources freely so that no believer lacked necessities (Acts 4:32-35).

3. FREELY GIVING INCLUDES SPIRITUAL AND PHYSICAL MINISTRY

Believers should share both spiritual truth and practical help.

a) The disciples preached, healed, and delivered people (Matthew 10:7-8)
Ministry involves meeting spiritual and physical needs.

b) The Gospel must be shared freely (Romans 10:13-15)
Salvation is offered openly to all people.

c) Compassion should accompany ministry (James 2:15-17)
Faith should be expressed through practical love and care.

d) God uses believers as channels of hope and restoration (Isaiah 58:10-11)
Serving others brings refreshment and blessing.

Biblical Example:
The Good Samaritan freely gave time, care, and resources to help a wounded stranger (Luke 10:33-35).

4. GENEROSITY BRINGS DIVINE REWARD

God blesses those who give faithfully and sincerely.

a) It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35)
Generosity brings spiritual joy and fulfilment.

b) God rewards cheerful givers (2 Corinthians 9:6-7)
The Lord honours willing and joyful generosity.

c) Those who refresh others shall be refreshed (Proverbs 11:25)
God replenishes those who bless others.

d) Eternal rewards await faithful servants (Matthew 25:34-40)
Serving others for God’s glory brings heavenly reward.

Biblical Example:
The widow of Zarephath gave her last meal to Elijah and experienced supernatural provision from God (1 Kings 17:10-16).

CONCLUSION

Jesus taught His disciples that what they had freely received from God should be freely shared with others. God’s blessings are not meant to stop with believers but to flow through them into the lives of others.

Whether through preaching the Gospel, helping the needy, encouraging the discouraged, praying for others, or giving resources, believers are called to reflect God’s generous nature. Those who freely give become instruments of blessing, healing, restoration, and Kingdom advancement.
