INTRODUCTION:
The question, "Where is the Lord God of Elijah?" is not a question of doubt but a cry of faith and expectation. Elisha asked this question when he needed divine intervention after Elijah had been taken up to heaven. It was a call to the same God who performed mighty miracles through Elijah to show up again. Today, we serve the same unchanging God, and He is still performing wonders in the lives of those who trust Him.
1. WHO WAS THE LORD GOD OF ELIJAH?
The Lord God of Elijah is the same God we serve today.
a) The God of Power
He demonstrated His power through fire from heaven (1 Kings 18:38).
b) The God of Provision
He miraculously provided for Elijah at Cherith and Zarephath (1 Kings 17:4-6, 9-16).
c) The God of Preservation
He protected Elijah from Jezebel’s threats (1 Kings 19:2-8).
d) The God of Judgment
He sent fire to consume the soldiers of Ahaziah (2 Kings 1:9-12).
e) Biblical Example:
Elijah’s confrontation with the prophets of Baal showcased God’s supremacy (1 Kings 18:36-39).
2. WHY DO WE NEED THE LORD GOD OF ELIJAH TODAY?
The challenges of today require the intervention of the same powerful God.
a) The World Is Filled with Wickedness
Just as Elijah faced opposition, believers face battles today (Ephesians 6:12).
b) Many Are Experiencing Spiritual Dryness
People are in need of revival and restoration (Psalms 85:6).
c) We Need Miracles and Supernatural Provisions
The same God who fed Elijah can supply our needs (Philippians 4:19).
d) We Need Boldness and Authority
Just as Elijah confronted evil, we must stand for righteousness (Acts 4:29-31).
e) Biblical Example:
The disciples of Jesus operated in great power just as Elijah did (Acts 10:38).
3. HOW CAN WE EXPERIENCE THE GOD OF ELIJAH?
The power of God is available for those who meet His conditions.
a) By Walking in Holiness
God works through vessels that are pure and set apart (2 Timothy 2:21).
b) By Faith and Bold Declarations
Elijah boldly declared the drought and the rain (1 Kings 17:1, 18:41).
c) By a Life of Prayer and Fasting
Elijah was a man of intense prayer (James 5:17-18).
d) By Seeking the Double Portion
Elisha sought and received Elijah’s anointing (2 Kings 2:9-10).
e) Biblical Example:
The early Church received the power of God through prayer (Acts 2:1-4).
4. WHEN WILL THE LORD GOD OF ELIJAH SHOW UP?
God manifests His power when certain conditions are met.
a) When We Call Upon Him in Faith
Elisha cried out in faith, and God responded (2 Kings 2:14).
b) When We Step Out in Obedience
Miracles happen when we act on God's Word (John 2:5-10).
c) When We Face Impossible Situations
God proves Himself when we are helpless (Daniel 3:17-27).
d) When We Challenge the Works of Darkness
Like Elijah, we must confront evil with divine authority (1 Kings 18:21-24).
e) Biblical Example:
Paul and Silas saw God’s intervention in prison (Acts 16:25-26).
5. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE LORD GOD OF ELIJAH SHOWS UP?
When God shows up, everything changes.
a) Miracles Become Commonplace
The supernatural becomes natural (Mark 16:17-18).
b) Enemies Are Defeated
God's power overcomes the enemy (2 Kings 6:17-18).
c) The Name of the Lord Is Glorified
People turn to God when they see His power (Acts 9:34-35).
d) Revival and Restoration Happen
God revives dry bones and restores destinies (Ezekiel 37:1-10).
e) Biblical Example:
After Elijah called fire from heaven, Israel repented and returned to God (1 Kings 18:39).
