INTRODUCTION
Healing and divine health are fundamental aspects of God’s covenant with His people. From the beginning, God never intended for mankind to experience sickness, but sin introduced pain, disease, and suffering into the world. However, through Christ’s redemptive work on the cross, believers have been granted the right to healing and a life free from affliction.
Isaiah 53:5 declares, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.” This verse assures us that healing is not just a possibility but a reality purchased through Jesus’ sacrifice. As children of God, we are not only meant to seek healing when sick but to walk in divine health, where sickness has no hold over our lives.
This sermon will explore the divine provisions for healing, the principles for maintaining health, and the practical steps to receiving and sustaining divine healing. God’s desire is for us to prosper and be in good health, even as our soul prospers (3 John 1:2).
1. GOD IS THE HEALER
God has revealed Himself as Jehovah Rapha, meaning "The Lord Who Heals." His power to heal has been demonstrated throughout history, and He remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.
a) God’s Covenant of Healing (Exodus 15:26)
God made a covenant with Israel, promising to keep them free from diseases if they obeyed Him. This covenant extends to us as believers in Christ.
b) Healing Through the Word (Psalm 107:20)
God’s Word carries healing power. When we receive and declare it in faith, it brings restoration and wholeness to our bodies.
c) Healing Through Faith in Christ (Mark 5:34)
Faith is the key to receiving healing. Jesus often told those He healed, “Your faith has made you whole.”
d) Healing Through Prayer (James 5:14-15)
The Bible commands us to pray for the sick, anoint them with oil, and believe in God’s power to heal.
e) Biblical Example: The woman with the issue of blood received healing when she touched the hem of Jesus' garment in faith (Mark 5:25-34).
2. JESUS HAS PAID FOR OUR HEALING
Through His suffering and sacrifice on the cross, Jesus secured our healing and deliverance from sickness.
a) Healing is Part of Redemption (Isaiah 53:5)
Jesus bore our sicknesses and carried our pains so that we might live in divine health.
b) Healing Manifested in Jesus’ Ministry (Matthew 8:16-17)
Jesus healed all who came to Him, demonstrating that divine healing is God’s will.
c) Healing is Available to All (Acts 10:38)
Healing is not for a select few; Jesus healed all who were oppressed by the devil.
d) Healing Through the Power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:11)
The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead gives life to our mortal bodies.
e) Biblical Example: The ten lepers were healed by Jesus, but only one returned to give thanks and received complete restoration (Luke 17:11-19).
3. KEYS TO RECEIVING HEALING
Healing is available to all believers, but it requires active faith and obedience to God’s Word.
a) Faith in God’s Promises (Hebrews 11:6)
Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Faith activates divine healing.
b) Confessing the Word of God (Proverbs 18:21)
Speaking life-giving scriptures over our bodies reinforces God’s power to heal.
c) Walking in Holiness (John 5:14)
Jesus warned the healed man to "sin no more," showing that sin can bring sickness.
d) Laying on of Hands (Mark 16:17-18)
Believers are commanded to lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
e) Biblical Example: Naaman was healed of leprosy after obeying Elisha’s instruction to wash in the Jordan River seven times (2 Kings 5:1-14).
4. LIVING IN DIVINE HEALTH
God does not just want us to be healed; He wants us to remain in health.
a) Obedience to God’s Instructions (Deuteronomy 7:15)
When we obey God’s commands, He removes sickness from our midst.
b) A Life of Thanksgiving and Worship (Exodus 23:25)
Serving and worshipping God brings divine health and removes affliction.
c) Proper Care of the Body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and must be cared for properly.
d) Renewing the Mind (Romans 12:2)
A transformed mind aligned with God’s Word leads to physical well-being.
e) Biblical Example: Caleb remained strong and healthy even in his old age because he wholeheartedly followed God (Joshua 14:10-11).
5. OVERCOMING ATTACKS AGAINST YOUR HEALTH
The devil seeks to afflict God’s children, but we have been given authority to resist him.
a) Resisting the Devil (James 4:7)
Sickness can sometimes be an attack from the enemy. We must resist it in faith.
b) Standing on the Word (Psalm 118:17)
Declare, "I shall not die, but live to declare the works of the Lord."
c) Breaking Generational Curses (Galatians 3:13)
Jesus has redeemed us from every curse, including inherited sicknesses.
d) The Power of Communion (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
Taking the Lord’s Supper in faith brings healing and renewal.
e) Biblical Example: Hezekiah was healed and given fifteen more years to live after he prayed to God (Isaiah 38:1-5).
CONCLUSION
Healing and divine health are God’s will for every believer. Jesus has already paid the price for our healing through His sacrifice, and it is our responsibility to receive and walk in it. By standing on God's Word, living in obedience, and rejecting sickness in faith, we can experience divine health all the days of our lives.
Though sickness may try to come, we must stand firm, knowing that God is our healer. His power is still at work today, just as it was in Bible times. As we trust in Him, sickness will have no dominion over us, and we will walk in divine strength and vitality.
