INTRODUCTION

Every person has a God-ordained destiny, a divine purpose designed before they were even born (Jeremiah 1:5). However, many destinies have been stolen, diverted, or delayed by the enemy through sin, ignorance, demonic manipulation, and evil foundations. The good news is that God is a restorer, and He has the power to recover whatever has been stolen from His children.

In this sermon, we will examine how destinies can be stolen, the consequences of a stolen destiny, and the biblical steps to recover and fulfil God's original plan for our lives.

1. HOW DESTINIES ARE STOLEN

Destinies do not get stolen by accident; the enemy uses different strategies to divert people from God's plan.

a) Through Sin and Disobedience
Sin gives the enemy legal ground to operate in a person's life (Romans 6:23). Adam and Eve lost their original destiny due to disobedience (Genesis 3:1-24).

b) Through Evil Covenants and Ancestral Curses
Many people are trapped by generational covenants and curses that limit their progress (Lamentations 5:7).

c) Through Witchcraft and Satanic Manipulation
The enemy uses demonic agents to exchange, delay, or hijack destinies (Daniel 10:12-13).

d) Through Wrong Associations
Bad company corrupts good destinies (1 Corinthians 15:33). Samson lost his destiny due to ungodly relationships (Judges 16:1-31).

e) Biblical Example: Esau (Genesis 25:29-34)
Esau’s destiny was exchanged when he sold his birthright for a meal.

2. CONSEQUENCES OF A STOLEN DESTINY

When a person's destiny is stolen, they experience various setbacks in life.

a) Living Below God’s Plan
God's purpose for an individual becomes unfulfilled, leading to frustration (Jeremiah 29:11).

b) Unexplainable Hardship and Struggles
When destiny is hijacked, a person may struggle endlessly without results (Haggai 1:6).

c) Wandering Without Direction
A person with a stolen destiny often moves from one failure to another, never finding stability (Deuteronomy 28:29).

d) Constant Disappointment and Delay
Every attempt to progress is blocked or delayed due to satanic interference (Daniel 10:13).

e) Biblical Example: The Israelites in Bondage (Exodus 1:8-14)
The Israelites’ destiny was delayed for 400 years due to captivity in Egypt.

3. STEPS TO RECOVERING A STOLEN DESTINY

God has given us the power to recover everything the enemy has stolen.

a) Return to God in Repentance
2 Chronicles 7:14 declares that when we turn to God in humility and repentance, He will restore us.

b) Break Every Evil Covenant and Curse
Isaiah 49:24-26 assures that God can deliver the lawful captives and contend with those who hold His people in bondage.

c) Engage in Violent Prayer and Fasting
Jesus said that some situations can only be changed through prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21).

d) Take Prophetic Actions and Declare the Word
Speak God’s Word over your life, and take prophetic steps like David, who pursued and recovered all (1 Samuel 30:8).

e) Biblical Example: Jabez (1 Chronicles 4:9-10)
Jabez's destiny was stolen through a negative name, but through prayer, God restored and enlarged his destiny.

4. SIGNS THAT YOUR DESTINY IS BEING RECOVERED

When God begins to restore a person’s destiny, the signs become evident.

a) Doors of Favour and Opportunities Open
When God restores, new opportunities arise (Revelation 3:8).

b) Divine Acceleration and Speed
Years that were lost are supernaturally recovered (Joel 2:25-26).

c) Supernatural Breakthroughs and Victories
Obadiah 1:17 says, "Upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness, and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions."

d) Restoration of Joy and Peace
God restores joy and peace when He delivers (Isaiah 61:7).

e) Biblical Example: Job (Job 42:10-12)
Job lost everything but experienced total restoration when God intervened.

5. HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR RESTORED DESTINY

It is not enough to recover destiny; you must guard it against future attacks.

a) Stay in Obedience to God's Word
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 promises blessings to those who obey God’s commandments.

b) Live a Life of Prayer and Fasting
1 Thessalonians 5:17 urges believers to pray without ceasing.

c) Be Watchful and Discern Spiritual Attacks
1 Peter 5:8 warns that the devil is always seeking whom to devour.

d) Surround Yourself with Godly People
Proverbs 13:20 teaches that walking with the wise leads to wisdom.

e) Biblical Example: Paul (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
Paul fulfilled his destiny by remaining focused on God’s call.

CONCLUSION

No matter how long your destiny has been stolen, God is able to restore and reposition you. He has promised in Joel 2:25 that He will restore the years the enemy has stolen. You must be determined to fight through prayer, fasting, and obedience to recover and fulfil God's original purpose for your life.
