COVENANT-KEEPING GOD

INTRODUCTION:
A covenant is a divine agreement between God and His people, sealed by His unchanging promises. Unlike human contracts that can be broken, God's covenant is eternal and dependable. The Bible reveals God as a Covenant-Keeping God who remains faithful to His word, regardless of circumstances. Understanding this truth strengthens our faith and confidence in Him.
1. GOD'S COVENANT IS ETERNAL
-
a) God's Covenant Stands Forever (Psalm 89:34)
God never breaks His promises; His covenant remains unshaken. -
b) The Covenant with Abraham (Genesis 17:1-7)
God’s promise to Abraham extended to generations, proving His faithfulness. -
c) The Unchanging Nature of God (Malachi 3:6)
Because God does not change, His covenant remains firm. -
d) The Everlasting Covenant of Peace (Isaiah 54:10)
Though the earth may shake, God’s covenant of peace remains unbroken. -
e) Biblical Example: God’s Covenant with Noah (Genesis 9:8-17)
The rainbow is a sign of God's faithfulness to His promises.
2. GOD REMEMBERS HIS COVENANT

a) God Never Forgets (Exodus 2:24)
When Israel cried out in Egypt, God remembered His covenant with Abraham. -
b) Covenant and Divine Intervention (Exodus 6:5-6)
God acts in response to His covenant when His people call upon Him. -
c) Generational Blessings (Deuteronomy 7:9)
God’s covenant extends to generations of those who love and obey Him. -
d) God's Covenant in Times of Trouble (Psalm 105:8-10)
Even in difficult times, God’s covenant remains intact. -
e) Biblical Example: David’s Covenant with Jonathan (2 Samuel 9:1-7)
David honoured his covenant with Jonathan by blessing Mephibosheth.
3. JESUS, THE MEDIATOR OF A NEW COVENANT

a) The New Covenant in Christ (Hebrews 8:6-7)
Jesus established a better covenant with better promises. -
b) The Blood of the Covenant (Matthew 26:28)
Christ’s blood seals the covenant of grace and redemption. -
c) Eternal Redemption through the Covenant (Hebrews 9:15)
Through Christ, we have eternal inheritance and salvation. -
d) The Covenant of Mercy (Lamentations 3:22-23)
God's mercies never fail because of His covenant with us. -
e) Biblical Example: The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-24)
The father’s acceptance of his son reflects God’s covenant love.
4. BENEFITS OF GOD'S COVENANT
-
a) Divine Protection (Psalm 91:1-4)
Those in covenant with God enjoy supernatural safety. -
b) Covenant Provision (Philippians 4:19)
God supplies the needs of those in covenant with Him. -
c) Supernatural Favour (Psalm 5:12)
God surrounds His covenant children with favour. -
d) Victory Over the Enemy (Isaiah 54:17)
No weapon formed against those in covenant with God shall prosper. -
e) Biblical Example: Israel’s Protection in Egypt (Exodus 12:12-13)
The blood of the lamb marked them for divine exemption.
5. WALKING IN THE COVENANT
-
a) Obedience to God’s Commands (Deuteronomy 28:1-2)
Blessings follow those who obey God’s covenant instructions. -
b) Faith in God's Promises (Romans 4:20-21)
Like Abraham, we must trust in God's covenant faithfulness. -
c) Living a Life of Holiness (2 Corinthians 7:1)
Walking in covenant requires a life set apart for God. -
d) Covenant Mindset (Psalm 103:2-5)
We must constantly remind ourselves of God’s covenant benefits. -
e) Biblical Example: Hezekiah’s Prayer (2 Kings 20:1-6)
He reminded God of His covenant and received divine healing.
CONCLUSION:
God is a Covenant-Keeping God who never fails. His promises are sure, and His faithfulness endures for all generations. When we walk in obedience and faith, we enjoy the full benefits of His covenant.
PRAYER POINTS:
- Lord, thank You for being a Covenant-Keeping God in my life.
- Father, let every covenant promise You have spoken over me come to pass.
- I reject every contrary covenant working against my destiny in Jesus' name.
- Lord, remember me and show me Your covenant mercy.
- I receive the blessings of the new covenant in Christ Jesus.
- Father, let my life manifest the benefits of divine covenant.
- Every power fighting against God’s covenant in my life is destroyed.
- Lord, establish my generations in Your everlasting covenant.
- I claim supernatural favour as a covenant child.
- I walk in divine health, prosperity, and victory by God’s covenant.
PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS:
- The covenant of God over your life shall not be broken!
- You will experience divine favour because of God's covenant.
- No power will overturn God's promises concerning you.
- The blood of Jesus will speak better things over your life.
- Your generation shall enjoy the blessings of divine covenant.
- Every negative covenant is broken in Jesus' name!
- You will walk in supernatural protection and provision.
- God will remember you and intervene in your situation.
- Your covenant with God will make you untouchable by the enemy.
- Because you are in covenant with God, your testimony shall be great!
Go forth with the confidence that God is a Covenant-Keeping God!
