INTRODUCTION:
Prophecy is a divine declaration of God’s will and plans for your life. However, prophecies do not fulfil themselves automatically. They require faith, prayer, and persistence. Contending for your prophecy means actively partnering with God to see His promises come to pass. This teaching will guide you on how to contend effectively for the fulfilment of God’s word in your life.

1. UNDERSTAND THE NATURE OF PROPHECY

a) Prophecy is God’s Word
Prophecies are inspired utterances revealing God’s will and intentions (2 Peter 1:21).

B) Prophecy Requires Faith
Without faith, it is impossible to see the fulfilment of God’s promises (Hebrews 11:6).

c) Prophecy Carries a Timeframe
Every prophecy has an appointed time for fulfilment (Habakkuk 2:3).

d) Prophecy May Face Opposition
The enemy often fights against the fulfilment of divine promises (Daniel 10:12-13).

e) Biblical Example: Abraham
Abraham believed God’s promise of a son despite delays and obstacles (Romans 4:20-21).

2. IDENTIFY YOUR RESPONSIBILITY IN PROPHECY

a) Believe the Word
Faith in God’s word is the foundation of receiving your prophecy (Mark 11:22-23).

b) Speak the Prophecy
Declare what God has said concerning you; life and death are in your tongue (Proverbs 18:21).

c) Pray the Prophecy
Prophecies are birthed through persistent prayer (James 5:16).

d) Obey God’s Instructions
Fulfilment often requires action on your part (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).

e) Biblical Example: Elijah
Elijah contended in prayer for the rain to come as God had promised (1 Kings 18:41-45).

3. DEAL WITH OPPOSITIONS TO YOUR PROPHECY

a) Spiritual Warfare
Use God’s word to fight against demonic forces (Ephesians 6:12).

b) Resist Doubt
Doubt is a barrier to seeing God’s promises fulfilled (James 1:6-7).

c) Overcome Discouragement
Be strong and courageous, even when the fulfilment seems delayed (Joshua 1:9).

d) Stand on God’s Faithfulness
Trust that God is faithful to keep His word (Numbers 23:19).

e) Biblical Example: Daniel
Daniel’s prayers broke through spiritual opposition to receive clarity on his prophecy (Daniel 10:12-13).

4. WAIT PATIENTLY AND EXPECTANTLY

a) Trust God’s Timing
God makes all things beautiful in His time (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

b) Keep the Vision Alive
Write the vision and meditate on it constantly (Habakkuk 2:2-3).

c) Maintain an Attitude of Praise
Praise God for the fulfilment even before it manifests (Psalm 34:1).

d) Stay Focused
Avoid distractions that pull you away from God’s promises (Colossians 3:2).

e) Biblical Example: Joseph
Despite the delay, Joseph remained faithful until his dreams were fulfilled (Genesis 41:39-44).

5. PARTNER WITH GOD UNTIL THE END

a) Be Persistent in Prayer
Pray without ceasing for God’s promises to manifest (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

b) Walk in Holiness
Live a life that aligns with God’s will (1 Peter 1:16).

c) Seek Divine Guidance
Allow the Holy Spirit to direct your steps (John 16:13).

d) Stay in Faith
Keep believing even when circumstances seem contrary (Hebrews 10:23).

e) Biblical Example: The Israelites
Through obedience and persistence, the Israelites entered the Promised Land (Joshua 21:45).
