INTRODUCTION:
Affliction is a period of suffering, trials, and challenges that can come upon a person, family, or even a nation. However, God has promised in His Word that He will put an end to affliction and prevent it from returning. This sermon explores how believers can stand on God’s promises, enforce their victory in Christ, and ensure that affliction does not rise a second time.
1. GOD’S PROMISE OF DELIVERANCE FROM AFFLICTION
God is a deliverer, and He assures His people that affliction will not be permanent.
a) God’s Deliverance is Certain
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all (Psalm 34:19).
b) God Puts an End to Suffering
Affliction has an expiry date, and when God declares its end, it cannot rise again (Nahum 1:9).
c) The Victory of the Cross
Through Christ’s sacrifice, believers have dominion over affliction and its sources (Colossians 2:14-15).
d) Divine Intervention Against Recurring Battles
God fights for His children, ensuring that past battles do not reappear (Exodus 14:13-14).
e) Biblical Example:
The Israelites were delivered from Egyptian slavery, and God ensured they never returned to bondage (Exodus 14:26-28).
2. HOW TO ENSURE AFFLICTION DOES NOT RETURN
To prevent affliction from rising again, believers must take proactive spiritual steps.
a) Live a Life of Holiness and Obedience
Sin opens doors to affliction, but righteousness preserves a person (Isaiah 1:19-20).
b) Stand on God’s Word and Declare His Promises
Boldly confessing and standing on scriptures ensures victory (Job 22:28).
c) Maintain a Strong Prayer Life
Consistent prayer blocks the return of affliction (Luke 18:1).
d) Break Every Evil Covenant and Pattern
Spiritual battles require breaking generational curses and negative cycles (Galatians 3:13-14).
e) Biblical Example:
Jabez prayed and God permanently changed his situation, preventing sorrow from returning (1 Chronicles 4:9-10).
3. DIVINE JUDGMENT AGAINST THE ENEMY
God executes judgment against forces that try to bring affliction back.
a) The Wicked Will Not Triumph Over the Righteous
Evil plans against God’s people will be destroyed (Isaiah 54:17).
b) God Overthrows the Enemies’ Devices
No satanic agenda will stand against those who trust in God (Job 5:12).
c) The Lord is a Consuming Fire
God fights against the adversaries of His children (Hebrews 12:29).
d) Divine Retribution Against Persistent Oppressors
When enemies refuse to let go, God intervenes with judgment (Psalm 7:11-13).
e) Biblical Example:
Haman plotted against Mordecai, but God’s judgment caused him to fall into his own trap (Esther 7:9-10).
4. THE POWER OF FAITH IN OVERCOMING REPEATED AFFLICTION
Faith is key to enforcing the victory that prevents affliction from returning.
a) Faith Activates God’s Protection
Trusting in God shields believers from future attacks (Psalm 91:1-2).
b) The Shield of Faith Repels the Enemy’s Attacks
The enemy may try, but faith blocks every fiery dart (Ephesians 6:16).
c) Believing in God's Finality Over Affliction
Doubt can reopen doors to past struggles, but faith secures lasting freedom (Mark 11:23).
d) Faith Moves Mountains of Affliction
Declaring faith-filled words removes obstacles permanently (Matthew 17:20).
e) Biblical Example:
The woman with the issue of blood was healed, and her affliction never returned because of her faith (Mark 5:25-34).
5. WALKING IN THE FULLNESS OF GOD’S VICTORY
To ensure affliction does not return, believers must walk in complete victory.
a) Stay in Fellowship with God
A strong relationship with God secures divine covering (John 15:5).
b) Maintain a Lifestyle of Thanksgiving and Worship
Praise confuses the enemy and establishes dominion (2 Chronicles 20:22).
c) Continue in the Word of God
The Word fortifies believers against any future attacks (Joshua 1:8).
d) Be Spiritually Vigilant
Constant vigilance prevents the enemy from taking advantage (1 Peter 5:8).
e) Biblical Example:
Daniel continued in prayer and faith, and God’s victory was permanent in his life (Daniel 6:10, 22).
CONCLUSION:
God has promised that affliction shall not rise a second time. As believers, we must stand on this promise and take the necessary spiritual steps to enforce our victory.
