THE CERTAINTY OF CHRIST'S RESURRECTION

INTRODUCTION

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not merely a doctrine that Christians celebrate; it is the foundation upon which the Christian faith stands. Paul reminds the Corinthian believers of the Gospel that he preached, which they received, believed, and by which they were saved. At the heart of that Gospel is the death, burial, resurrection, and appearances of Jesus Christ.

Paul deliberately emphasises that Christ's resurrection happened “according to the scriptures.” The resurrection was not an unexpected event or a theological invention of the early Church. It was part of God's redemptive plan revealed beforehand and fulfilled through Jesus Christ. The empty tomb and the appearances of the risen Christ provide powerful testimony to the truth of the Gospel.

The certainty of Christ's resurrection changes everything for the believer. Because Jesus lives, our faith is not empty, our sins can be forgiven, death is not the end, and eternal life is certain. The resurrection calls us to stand firmly in the Gospel and to live with confidence, holiness, hope, and expectation.

1. THE RESURRECTION IS CENTRAL TO THE GOSPEL

The resurrection is not a secondary Christian doctrine.

2. CHRIST REALLY DIED FOR OUR SINS

The resurrection is the decisive victory of Christ.

His resurrection fulfilled God's prophetic plan.

5. THE RISEN CHRIST APPEARED TO WITNESSES

8. THE RESURRECTION GIVES ASSURANCE OF SALVATION

Our salvation rests upon the living Christ.

Believers are called to walk in resurrection life.

The resurrection validates the message believers have embraced.

9. THE RESURRECTION GIVES HOPE BEYOND THE GRAVE

Christ's resurrection guarantees the believer's future hope.

a) Christ Is The Firstfruits (1 Corinthians 15:20)
His resurrection guarantees the future resurrection of those who belong to Him.

b) Death Is Defeated (1 Corinthians 15:54-55)
The final victory over death belongs to Christ.

c) Believers Will Be Raised (John 11:25-26)
Jesus promises resurrection and life to those who believe in Him.

d) Eternal Life Is Certain (John 3:16)
Those who believe in Christ receive everlasting life.

10. THE RESURRECTION CALLS US TO STAND FIRM

The risen Christ demands a response.

Do not abandon the truth you have received.

b) Reject Empty Alternatives (Galatians 1:8-9)
Believers must guard the purity of the Gospel.

c) Live In Resurrection Power (Philippians 3:10)
The resurrection should transform our daily Christian experience.

Because Christ is risen, believers should remain faithful and committed to the Lord.

CONCLUSION

The certainty of Christ's resurrection rests upon the Gospel testimony, the fulfilment of Scripture, the empty tomb, and the appearances of the risen Lord to numerous witnesses. Paul did not present the resurrection as a vague spiritual idea; he proclaimed it as the central truth of the Gospel. Christ died for our sins, was buried, rose again on the third day, and appeared to His followers.

Because Jesus Christ is risen, our faith has a foundation, our salvation has assurance, our future has hope, and death has been defeated. Therefore, let every believer hold firmly to the Gospel, reject doubt and false teaching, walk in resurrection life, and remain faithful to Christ until the end. The tomb is empty, Christ is alive, and His victory is our hope.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, establish my faith firmly in the truth of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, in Jesus name.

2. Lord, help me to hold firmly to the Gospel and never depart from the truth of Your Word, in Jesus name.

5. Father, destroy every doubt, unbelief, fear, and confusion concerning the truth of Christ's resurrection, in Jesus name.

6. Lord, let the hope of resurrection and eternal life strengthen me in every trial and difficulty, in Jesus name.

7. Father, empower me to proclaim the Gospel of the risen Christ boldly and faithfully, in Jesus name.

8. Lord, let every power of death, destruction, and hopelessness be overcome by the victory of Christ's resurrection, in Jesus name.

9. Father, help me to live a holy and Christ-centred life because I belong to the risen Lord, in Jesus name.

10. Lord, by the power of Christ's resurrection, make me steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in Your work until I finish well, in Jesus name.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS

1. Your faith shall remain firmly established in the risen Christ.

2. Every power of doubt, unbelief, fear, and spiritual confusion shall lose its hold over you.

3. The resurrection power of Jesus Christ shall work mightily in your life.

4. You shall walk in the newness of life and experience the transforming power of Christ.

5. Your salvation shall remain secure as you continue to abide in Christ.

6. The hope of eternal life shall strengthen you in every season of your journey.

7. Every situation that appears dead and hopeless shall encounter the life-giving power of the risen Christ.

8. You shall boldly proclaim the Gospel and become an effective witness of the risen Lord.

9. You shall overcome every fear of death and walk in the confidence of Christ's victory.

10. Because Jesus Christ is risen, you shall remain steadfast, unmovable, fruitful, and faithful to the end, and you shall share in His eternal victory, in Jesus name.
