DISCOVERING GOD'S WILL

INTRODUCTION:
Discovering God’s will is one of the most important pursuits for a believer. It involves aligning oneself with God’s plans and purposes, leading to a life of fulfilment and divine direction. This sermon explores how to discern God’s will and walk in His plans for your life.

1. UNDERSTANDING GOD’S WILL

a) God’s Will Is Perfect
God’s plans for us are always good and bring ultimate fulfilment (Jeremiah 29:11).

b) God’s Will Is Revealed in His Word
The Bible is the primary source for understanding His will (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

c) God’s Will Aligns with His Nature
God’s will reflects His holiness, love, and righteousness (1 Thessalonians 4:3).

d) God’s Will Is Personal
God has a unique plan for each individual (Ephesians 2:10).

e) Biblical Example: Abraham
God revealed His will to Abraham, leading him to a land of promise (Genesis 12:1-4).

2. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO DISCOVER GOD’S WILL

a) It Brings Fulfilment
Walking in God’s will ensures peace and satisfaction (Psalm 37:4).

b) It Ensures Divine Protection
Staying within God’s will keeps us under His covering (Psalm 91:1-2).

c) It Leads to Eternal Rewards
Obedience to God’s will has lasting benefits (Matthew 7:21).

d) It Prevents Regret
Following God’s plan helps us avoid costly mistakes (Proverbs 19:21).

e) Biblical Example: Jonah
When Jonah ran from God’s will, he faced trouble, but obedience restored him (Jonah 1:1-3, 3:1-3).

3. HOW TO DISCOVER GOD’S WILL

a) Through Prayer
Consistent prayer helps us align with God’s purposes (James 1:5).

b) Through the Word
The Scriptures provide clarity on God’s desires (Psalm 119:105).

c) Through the Holy Spirit
The Spirit guides us into all truth and reveals God’s plans (John 16:13).

d) Through Godly Counsel
Seeking advice from mature believers can provide direction (Proverbs 11:14).

e) Biblical Example: David
David consistently sought God’s will in prayer before taking action (1 Samuel 30:8).

4. OBSTACLES TO DISCOVERING GOD’S WILL

a) Disobedience
Ignoring God’s instructions hinders clarity (Isaiah 1:19-20).

b) Lack of Faith
Doubting God’s ability to lead us creates confusion (James 1:6-8).

c) Worldly Desires
Being overly focused on earthly things can cloud our vision (1 John 2:15-17).

d) Impatience
Rushing ahead of God’s timing leads to errors (Psalm 27:14).

e) Biblical Example: King Saul
Saul lost God’s favour by acting impatiently and disobeying His commands (1 Samuel 13:8-14).

5. BENEFITS OF WALKING IN GOD’S WILL

a) Peace and Joy
Obedience to God’s will brings inner peace and joy (Isaiah 26:3).

b) Divine Provision
God supplies all our needs when we follow His plan (Philippians 4:19).

c) Supernatural Strength
Walking in God’s will empowers us to overcome challenges (Isaiah 40:31).

d) Fulfilling Destiny
Living in God’s will ensures we accomplish His purpose (2 Timothy 4:7).

e) Biblical Example: Jesus
Jesus fulfilled His purpose by submitting to God’s will, even unto death (Luke 22:42).

CONCLUSION:
Discovering God’s will requires intentionality, humility, and faith. It is not about imposing our desires on God but aligning ourselves with His perfect plan. As you seek Him in prayer, study His Word, and listen to His Spirit, He will lead you into His good, acceptable, and perfect will.

1. Father, open my eyes to understand Your will for my life.

2. Lord, guide me by Your Spirit into all truth.

3. Father, help me to trust Your timing and plan.

4. Lord, grant me the grace to obey Your instructions promptly.

5. Father, remove every obstacle hindering me from discovering Your will.

6. Lord, align my desires with Your purpose for me.

7. Father, let Your Word be a light to my path.

8. Lord, connect me with godly counsel that will direct me in Your will.

9. Father, help me to remain steadfast in faith as I follow You.

10. Lord, let my life be a testimony of walking in Your perfect will.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS:
1. I declare that you will not miss God’s will for your life.

2. The Holy Spirit will guide you into divine purposes.

3. Every obstacle to your divine destiny is removed in Jesus’ name.

4. You will walk in God’s plan and experience peace and joy.

5. Your steps will be ordered by the Lord.

6. Confusion is removed from your life; clarity is your portion.

7. You will receive the grace to obey God’s voice promptly.

8. Divine opportunities aligned with God’s will are opening for you.

9. You will fulfil your God-given destiny.

10. Your life will reflect the glory and purpose of God.
