Description: This study reveals that personal faith is the channel through which the power of God is activated for healing and restoration.
INTRODUCTION
In Mark 5:25-34, we encounter the story of a woman who had suffered from an issue of blood for twelve years. Despite seeking help from many physicians and spending all she had, her condition only worsened. Human solutions had failed, and her situation seemed hopeless.
However, everything changed when she heard about Jesus. She believed that if she could only touch His garment, she would be healed. This was not a passive belief but an active, determined faith that moved her to action despite the crowd and her condition.
This passage teaches a powerful truth: faith is the key that connects us to God’s power. It is not enough to know about Jesus; we must personally reach out to Him in faith. When faith is exercised, divine power is released, and transformation takes place.
1. FAITH BEGINS WITH HEARING
Faith is birthed when we receive the Word about Christ.
a) Faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17)
The woman heard about Jesus, and that hearing produced faith in her heart.
b) Hearing produces expectation (Psalm 119:130)
Understanding God’s Word builds confidence in His ability.
c) Right information builds strong faith (John 8:32)
Knowing the truth empowers believers to act.
d) What you hear shapes your belief (Proverbs 4:20-21)
Consistent exposure to God’s Word strengthens faith.
Biblical Example:
Blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:47-52) heard that Jesus was passing by and cried out in faith for his healing.
2. FAITH REQUIRES ACTION
True faith is demonstrated through intentional steps.
a) Faith moves beyond thoughts (James 2:17)
Faith without action is dead.
b) Action overcomes obstacles (Mark 5:27)
The woman pressed through the crowd to reach Jesus.
c) Faith takes risks (Ecclesiastes 11:4)
Waiting for perfect conditions can delay miracles.
d) Faith persists until it receives (Luke 18:1)
Persistence is a key component of effective faith.
Biblical Example:
The four men who brought the paralytic (Mark 2:3-5) demonstrated faith through determined action.
3. FAITH ACTIVATES DIVINE POWER
God’s power is released when faith connects with Him.
a) Power flows through faith (Mark 5:30)
Jesus perceived that virtue had gone out of Him when the woman touched Him.
b) Faith makes the difference (Matthew 9:29)
According to your faith, be it unto you.
c) Faith pleases God (Hebrews 11:6)
Without faith, it is impossible to please Him.
d) Faith produces results (Mark 9:23)
All things are possible to him that believes.
Biblical Example:
The centurion’s servant healed (Matthew 8:8-13) shows how faith can activate divine power even at a distance.
4. FAITH BRINGS COMPLETE WHOLENESS
Faith does not just bring partial results but total restoration.
a) Healing is immediate (Mark 5:29)
The woman felt in her body that she was healed instantly.
b) Wholeness includes peace (Mark 5:34)
Jesus told her to go in peace, indicating inner and outer restoration.
c) Faith restores dignity (Luke 13:12-13)
God restores honour to those who believe.
d) Wholeness is God’s desire (3 John 1:2)
God desires His people to prosper and be in health.
Biblical Example:
The ten lepers (Luke 17:12-19) were healed, but the one who returned in faith received complete wholeness.
CONCLUSION
The story of the woman with the issue of blood teaches that personal faith is powerful and effective. It is not enough to rely on the faith of others; each believer must develop and exercise their own faith. When faith is activated, it draws the power of God into our situation.
No matter how long a situation has persisted, faith can bring instant change. When we hear the Word, act on it, and trust God completely, we position ourselves for divine intervention. Faith is the bridge between human need and divine supply.
