INTRODUCTION
All through Scripture, God repeatedly calls His people to hear His voice and take heed to His Word. Hearing in this context goes beyond the physical act of listening – it means paying attention, obeying, and acting on what is spoken. Whenever God says “Hear this and hear well”, it is because He is about to reveal something crucial for life, preservation, and destiny. Those who hear and obey prosper, but those who refuse to hear suffer loss (Jeremiah 7:23–24).
1. HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD ABOVE ALL VOICES
a) God speaks through His Word (Psalm 119:105): His Word is a lamp to guide us in dark seasons.
b) God speaks through His Spirit (John 16:13): The Spirit of truth leads us into all truth.
c) God speaks through His servants (2 Chronicles 20:20): Believing His prophets establishes us.
d) God speaks through circumstances (Romans 8:28): Even situations carry divine messages.
Biblical Example: Samuel heard the voice of God as a boy and was established as a prophet in Israel (1 Samuel 3:9–10).
2. HEAR AND OBEY TO LIVE
a) Hearing brings life (Isaiah 55:3): “Hear, and your soul shall live.”
b) Obedience brings blessing (Deuteronomy 28:1–2): If you diligently obey, blessings will overtake you.
c) Disobedience brings curses (Jeremiah 7:24): They did not obey but walked in the imagination of their hearts.
d) Hearing must be followed by doing (James 1:22): Not hearers only, but doers are blessed.
Biblical Example: Noah heard God, obeyed, and preserved his household from destruction (Genesis 6:22).
3. HEAR AND BEWARE OF STRANGE VOICES
a) The enemy also speaks lies (John 8:44): Satan’s voice is deceptive and destructive.
b) Strange doctrines lead astray (1 Timothy 4:1): Many shall depart from the faith because of seducing spirits.
c) The flesh speaks against the Spirit (Galatians 5:17): Our desires often conflict with God’s leading.
d) Believers must test all spirits (1 John 4:1): Discernment is key in these end times.
Biblical Example: Eve listened to the serpent and lost the glory of Eden (Genesis 3:1–6).
4. HEAR THE WORD OF WARNING AND PRESERVATION
a) God’s Word preserves from destruction (Psalm 119:11): Hiding the Word in our hearts keeps us from sin.
b) Prophetic warnings save lives (Acts 27:22-24): Paul’s words preserved all on the ship during the storm.
c) Refusing warnings leads to disaster (Proverbs 29:1): He that hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed.
d) God warns so that we may escape (Ezekiel 3:18-19): The watchman’s voice preserves from death.
Biblical Example: Lot and his family escaped Sodom because they heeded the angel’s warning (Genesis 19:15-17).
5. HEAR THE VOICE OF ETERNITY
a) Jesus calls His sheep (John 10:27): His sheep hear His voice and follow Him.
b) Hearing determines destiny (John 5:25): Those who hear the Son will live.
c) The Spirit still speaks to the churches (Revelation 2:7): Whoever has an ear, let him hear.
d) Hearing the final call (Matthew 25:6): At midnight, the cry went out, “Behold, the Bridegroom comes.”
Biblical Example: The thief on the cross heard the words of Jesus and entered paradise (Luke 23:42-43).
CONCLUSION
God is saying today: “Hear this and hear well.” His voice is the difference between life and death, between success and failure, between preservation and destruction. May our ears be open to His Word and our hearts obedient to His instructions.
