Description: The name of Jesus is God’s seal of authority that exempts believers from danger, destruction, and defeat.
INTRODUCTION:
Exemption means being divinely spared from calamities, afflictions, or evil that destroy others. In our covenant walk with God, exemption is one of our undeniable rights in Christ. One of the greatest weapons of exemption given to believers is the Name of Jesus. This name is not ordinary; it carries the fullness of Christ’s authority and power.
The name of Jesus is highly exalted above all names in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. When we invoke His name, every opposition must bow, and every evil decree must be cancelled. It is in this powerful name that believers find deliverance, safety, and supernatural exemption. The Psalmist declares that the name of the Lord is a strong tower, and the righteous who run into it are safe (Proverbs 18:10).
In this message, we shall examine how the name of Jesus exempts us from destruction, empowers us for victory, delivers us from satanic oppression, and guarantees our dominion in life. As we engage this mystery with faith, we shall walk in unshakable exemption.
1. THE NAME OF JESUS GUARANTEES DIVINE PROTECTION
The name of Jesus is a shield of safety that exempts the believer from calamity and danger.
a) Strong tower of refuge (Proverbs 18:10): The name of the Lord is a strong tower; it provides unshakable refuge and security for the righteous.
b) Safety in the midst of danger (Psalm 91:7): While thousands may fall, those who trust in the name of Jesus are divinely exempted.
c) The name as a covering (Isaiah 59:19): The name of Jesus raises a standard against the floods of the enemy.
d) Deliverance in emergencies (Psalm 50:15): Calling on the name of the Lord in the day of trouble brings immediate deliverance.
Biblical Example: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego invoked their covenant stand with God’s name, and the fiery furnace that destroyed others could not touch them (Daniel 3:16-28).
2. THE NAME OF JESUS CANCELS EVIL DECREES
The name of Jesus annuls satanic verdicts and exempts believers from the powers of darkness.
a) Authority over demonic decrees (Luke 10:17): Demons submit to the authority of the name of Jesus, granting us exemption from their oppression.
b) Breaking chains of bondage (Acts 16:18): At the mention of His name, demonic forces must flee and bondages are broken.
c) Freedom from condemnation (Romans 8:1): In Christ Jesus, the law of sin and death no longer has power over us.
d) Access to divine intervention (John 14:13-14): Every prayer made in the name of Jesus carries authority to overturn evil situations.
Biblical Example: Paul cast out the demonic spirit from the damsel at Philippi in the name of Jesus, exempting her from satanic oppression (Acts 16:16-18).
3. THE NAME OF JESUS EMPOWERS BELIEVERS FOR VICTORY
The name of Jesus is the believer’s weapon for triumph over all forms of opposition.
a) Victory through His name (1 Corinthians 15:57): God always causes us to triumph through Christ, ensuring our exemption from defeat.
b) Authority to subdue forces (Mark 16:17-18): Believers cast out devils and heal the sick in His name, manifesting dominion.
c) Exemption from satanic attacks (Isaiah 54:17): No weapon formed against us prospers when we enforce the name of Jesus.
d) The name as a weapon of warfare (2 Corinthians 10:4-5): In His name, we pull down strongholds and destroy satanic operations.
Biblical Example: David faced Goliath not with physical weapons but with the authority of God’s name, and that exempted him from defeat (1 Samuel 17:45-50).
4. THE NAME OF JESUS OPENS THE DOOR TO SUPERNATURAL INTERVENTIONS
When we invoke the name of Jesus in faith, heaven intervenes in our affairs and delivers us from destruction.
a) Answered prayers (John 14:13-14): Whatever we ask in His name is granted, leading to supernatural exemption.
b) Healing through His name (Acts 3:6, 16): The cripple at the Beautiful Gate was healed by the power of the name of Jesus, exempted from a life of stagnation.
c) Salvation in His name (Acts 4:12): The name of Jesus exempts us from eternal damnation and secures eternal life.
d) Victory in spiritual battles (Philippians 2:10): Every knee in heaven, earth, and hell bows to the authority of His name.
Biblical Example: Peter and John healed the lame man at the Beautiful Gate by invoking the name of Jesus, exempting him from lifelong affliction (Acts 3:1-10).
