Description: God has placed a covenant covering upon His children, and therefore what destroys or afflicts others will not prosper in the lives of those who dwell under His shadow.
INTRODUCTION:
Every age and generation has witnessed calamities, plagues, diseases, disasters, and afflictions that consume multitudes. Yet, God’s word assures us that His people will always enjoy divine preservation and exemption. This is not because of our strength or wisdom but because of God’s unfailing covenant of mercy and protection.
The Scriptures declare that no weapon formed against God’s children shall prosper. It means that weapons may be formed, attacks may come, and plagues may ravage communities, but they shall not succeed against those who are marked by the blood of Jesus. This divine distinction is the believer’s heritage.
Beloved, we must live with the consciousness of this truth. While others may be shaken, we must stand in faith. While others fear, we must believe God’s promise of protection. This is how we activate covenant exemption, living boldly under the shadow of the Almighty, where no plague can prosper against us.
1. GOD MAKES A DIVINE DISTINCTION
God separates His people from the world, setting them apart as His treasure, so that what afflicts others will not destroy them.
a) God’s people are separated – Exodus 8:22-23 – God made a difference between Egypt and Goshen so that His people were spared from the plagues.
b) Covenant exemption is real – Psalm 105:37 – Israel walked out of Egypt untouched, showing that covenant people are preserved.
c) The blood is the mark of protection – Exodus 12:13 – The destroyer could not touch any home covered by the blood.
d) God’s word is sure – Isaiah 41:10 – His promise of protection gives assurance that we shall not be afraid.
Biblical Example: The Israelites in Goshen were spared while Egypt suffered devastating plagues.
2. THE POWER OF GOD’S PROTECTION
God’s protection is not partial but complete. He surrounds His children with divine covering that shields them from destruction.
a) Angelic guardianship – Psalm 91:11 – The Lord gives His angels charge to keep His children in all their ways.
b) Weapons may be formed but cannot prosper – Isaiah 54:17 – Attacks are inevitable, but victory is guaranteed.
c) The hedge of the Lord – Job 1:10 – Satan recognized the hedge of fire around Job that made him untouchable.
d) Christ as our refuge – Colossians 3:3 – Our lives are hidden with Christ in God, beyond the enemy’s reach.
Biblical Example: Daniel was preserved in the lions’ den because God’s protection was upon him.
3. COVENANT MARKS OF EXEMPTION
Believers carry divine marks that guarantee exemption from plagues and afflictions.
a) The blood of Jesus marks you – Hebrews 12:24 – The blood of sprinkling speaks better things than judgment.
b) The name of Jesus shields you – Proverbs 18:10 – The name of the Lord is a strong tower, and the righteous are safe in it.
c) The Holy Spirit seals you – Ephesians 1:13 – The Spirit is the seal of divine ownership and preservation.
d) The Word of God preserves you – Psalm 119:114 – God’s word becomes a shield and hiding place to the believer.
Biblical Example: Paul was bitten by a viper but remained unharmed; the covenant mark exempted him from harm (Acts 28:3-6).
4. LIVING IN THE REALITY OF DIVINE EXEMPTION
Exemption is a covenant reality, but it must be activated through faith, obedience, and conscious reliance on God.
a) Live by faith, not fear – 2 Timothy 1:7 – Fear opens the door to affliction, but faith secures protection.
b) Declare God’s promises daily – Job 22:28 – Speaking God’s word enforces exemption.
c) Walk in obedience – Deuteronomy 28:1-2 – Obedience keeps us under the covering of God’s covenant.
d) Abide in God’s presence – Psalm 91:1 – Dwelling in the secret place guarantees divine security.
Biblical Example: The widow of Zarephath was preserved in famine through obedience to God’s word (1 Kings 17:8-16).
CONCLUSION:
The truth is clear: what plagues others will not prosper in your life. God has marked His children with divine exemption. Though calamities may rage, those who are under His covenant covering will remain preserved.
Therefore, walk daily in the consciousness of this reality. Refuse to live in fear, stand boldly upon God’s promises, and stay connected to the covenant of Jesus’ blood. You are divinely exempted, and your life will be a testimony of God’s preservation.
