SOAR

SOAR

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Exodus 19:3-4

Supporting Texts: Genesis 45:13, 1 Samuel 22:1-3, 1 Samuel 22:23, Psalm 44:1-4

INTRODUCTION:
To soar means to rise and move effortlessly to greater heights without unnecessary struggles. It is not by strength, labour, or mere human effort that destinies are fulfilled, but by grace and divine empowerment. An eagle does not flap like other birds; it soars. Other birds exhaust themselves by flapping, but the eagle takes advantage of the wind and glides with ease. This is the picture of grace.

Many people depend solely on hard work, but hard work without grace will end in frustration. Peter toiled all night but caught nothing until Jesus stepped into his boat. Joseph’s brothers could not recognise him because grace had changed his story. David attracted 400 distressed men who hung on his grace and became mighty warriors. True lifting is not by sweat but by grace.

Soaring therefore means being given wings and platforms by God to achieve great things without struggling. When God carries you on eagle’s wings, you rise above limitations, you accomplish what others labour for in a fraction of the time, and you are preserved in divine security. Today, may God release fresh grace upon you to soar.

1. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO SOAR?

a) Rising without struggling (Exodus 19:3–4): God said He carried Israel on eagle’s wings, meaning divine lifting without their effort.

b) Accomplishing beyond human limitation (Genesis 45:13): Joseph was soaring in destiny while his brothers remained stagnant.

c) Attracting divine platforms: To soar is to be given opportunities and recognition that labour cannot produce.

d) Enjoying divine ease: Where others toil, grace makes you glide. (Matthew 11:28–30)

Biblical Example: Joseph in Egypt – He moved from prison to palace, soaring to greatness.

2. THE WINGS THAT MAKE YOU SOAR

a) The Presence of God (Psalm 44:1–4): The greatest wing is God’s presence. Without it, no man can soar.

b) Divine Helpers (Genesis 41:9–14): Helpers are the wings that lift you higher. One word from the butler brought Joseph to the throne.

c) The Anointing (1 Samuel 16:13): The oil upon David distinguished him and made him soar.

d) Destiny Connections (1 Samuel 22:1-3): Men who connected to David partook of his grace. Connection to the right people gives wings to soar.

Biblical Example: The lame man at the Beautiful Gate (Acts 3:1–10) – God gave him wings through Peter and John.

3. HINDRANCES TO SOARING (WING BREAKERS)

a) Wrong Associations (Lot in Genesis 13:10–12): Lot’s separation from Abraham exposed him to trouble.

b) Wicked Decisions of Others (2 Samuel 9:9–10): Ziba tried to disconnect Mephibosheth from his destiny.

c) Envy and Sabotage (Genesis 37:19–20): Joseph’s brothers tried to kill his dream, but God preserved him.

d) Ignorance of Grace (Ecclesiastes 9:11): Hard work alone is not enough; wisdom and grace are required.

ILLUSTRATION : The man whose wife did not allow the husband to give a car to a man in need – his wings were broken by decisions of others.

4. THE EVIDENCES OF SOARING

a) Enlargement (Acts 3:8): The lame man’s height increased; he stood tall.

b) Progression: He began to walk and move forward.

c) New Song: His testimony changed from shame to joy. (Psalm 40:3)

d) New Company: He joined the worshippers in the temple, leaving behind beggars.

Biblical Example: David’s men – from distressed, they became mighty warriors by the evidence of soaring grace.

5. HOW TO ACTIVATE THE GRACE TO SOAR

a) Depend on God’s Presence (Exodus 33:14): Only His presence guarantees rest and lifting.

b) Honour Divine Grace Carriers: Lot prospered because of Abraham until he disconnected.

c) Embrace Wisdom, not just Labour (Proverbs 4:7): Wisdom multiplies the results of effort.

d) Stay Connected to the Anointing (1 Samuel 22:23): David told his men, “Stay with me, and you will be safe.”

Biblical Example: Peter – After toiling all night, when he obeyed Jesus, he soared into abundance (Luke 5:5-6).

CONCLUSION:
Soaring is not about human effort but about divine grace, presence, and the wings God gives you through His Spirit, helpers, and connections. The Israelites left Egypt with wealth, not by their effort but by divine favour. The lame man at the Beautiful Gate soared into destiny in one day. You too can soar when you rely on God’s presence, His anointing, and His appointed helpers.
