Description: Through fervent prayer and intercession, believers secure divine exemption from evil, judgement, and satanic plots.

INTRODUCTION:
Exemption is the divine privilege of being spared from what destroys or afflicts others. While others may fall into calamity, the interceding believer enjoys supernatural covering and deliverance. One of the most powerful instruments God has given His children to secure exemption is prayer and intercession.

Prayer is not only communion with God but also a spiritual force that builds a hedge of divine protection. Intercession, on the other hand, is standing in the gap for others so that they may also be spared from danger or judgement. When the church rises in prayer and intercession, destinies are preserved, nations are delivered, and evil decrees are overturned.

In this study, we shall explore how prayer and intercession guarantee exemption in times of crisis. We will see how they build divine covering, secure God’s mercy, frustrate conspiracies of darkness, and bring angelic interventions. As we engage in prayer and stand in the gap for others, we shall not be victims but victors in Jesus’ name.

1. PRAYER BUILDS A HEDGE OF PROTECTION
Prayer creates a spiritual wall of defence around the believer, keeping away danger and demonic attacks.

a) Hedge of divine covering (Job 1:9-10): Satan himself testified that Job was untouchable because a hedge of protection surrounded him through his devotion to God. Prayer fortifies that hedge in our lives.

b) Dwelling in God’s secret place (Psalm 91:1): A life of prayer keeps us under divine covering, exempting us from the arrows of the wicked.

c) Persistence in prayer (Luke 18:1): Consistent prayer builds constant security. The prayerless Christian is defenceless, but the prayerful one is preserved.

d) Extending covering through intercession (1 Timothy 2:1-2): Intercession does not only protect us but also shields those we stand for in prayer.

Biblical Example: Job prayed continually for his children, and they were preserved by his intercession (Job 1:5).

2. INTERCESSION SECURES DIVINE MERCY
When judgement or destruction is pending, intercession can release mercy that exempts from disaster.

a) Mercy averts judgement (Lamentations 3:22): Without the Lord’s mercies, we would all be consumed, but intercession draws mercy down.

b) God seeks intercessors (Ezekiel 22:30): When people pray on behalf of others, they become God’s channel of mercy for them.

c) Turning captivity through prayer (Psalm 126:1-2): Intercession can reverse negative circumstances and bring restoration.

d) Healing through prayer (2 Chronicles 7:14): God promises to heal the land if His people intercede with humility and repentance.

Biblical Example: Abraham interceded for Lot and his family, and they were exempted from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18:23–33; 19:15-17).

3. PRAYER SHIELDS FROM EVIL CONSPIRACIES
Prayer and intercession frustrate satanic plots and deliver the righteous from wicked conspiracies.

a) The enemy’s evil plans (Psalm 21:11): The wicked plot against the righteous, but prayer exposes and cancels their agenda.

b) Prayer disarms satanic devices (Isaiah 54:17): Through prayer, every weapon formed against us is rendered useless.

c) Reversing decrees (Esther 4:16): Intercessory prayer has the power to reverse evil decrees and replace them with victory.

d) Angelic deliverance in prayer (Daniel 6:22): Prayer activates angelic help to shut the mouth of the enemy.

Biblical Example: Daniel’s prayer life exempted him from death when thrown into the lions’ den, as God sent His angel to shut the lions’ mouths (Daniel 6:10-22).

4. PRAYER AND INTERCESSION BRING ANGELIC INTERVENTION
Angels are released on assignment when saints pray, enforcing exemption and deliverance.

a) Angelic encampment (Psalm 34:7): The angel of the Lord surrounds those who fear Him, delivering them in times of danger.

b) Angelic visitation through prayer (Acts 12:5-7): The church’s intercession for Peter brought angelic intervention that delivered him from prison.

c) Intercession activates angelic rescue (Matthew 18:10): God releases angels to watch over those who are covered in prayer.

d) Angels enforce exemption (Psalm 91:11): God commands His angels to guard and exempt His people from sudden destruction.

Biblical Example: Peter was supernaturally exempted from execution through the intercession of the church, as an angel set him free from prison (Acts 12:5-11).

CONCLUSION:
Prayer and intercession are not mere religious routines but spiritual lifelines for exemption. They create divine protection, release mercy, frustrate satanic conspiracies, and bring angelic interventions. Without prayer, believers remain vulnerable, but through prayer, we become untouchable.

In these last days, when evil is multiplying, the church must rise in prayer and intercession for ourselves, our families, and our nation. As we stand in the gap, God will mark us for exemption, deliver us from evil, and establish us in victory.
