INTRODUCTION:
In an unstable and dangerous world, divine security offers believers assurance of God's protection, peace, and preservation. It is a covenant benefit for all who trust in Him. This sermon explores the nature, benefits, and principles of divine security, showing how believers can live without fear, knowing they are secure in the hands of the Almighty.
1. WHAT IS DIVINE SECURITY?
a) God’s Protective Presence:
Divine security is the guarantee of God's constant presence with His children (Psalm 46:1).
b) A Hedge of Defence:
God places a spiritual hedge around His people to protect them from harm (Job 1:10).
c) Assurance in Times of Trouble:
Believers are assured of God’s intervention in times of distress (Isaiah 41:10).
d) Preservation of Life and Destiny:
God safeguards His plans for His children from destruction (Jeremiah 29:11).
e) Eternal Safety in Christ:
Those in Christ have eternal security and victory over the enemy (Romans 8:38-39).
Biblical Example:
Elisha and his servant were surrounded by God’s heavenly army, ensuring their safety (2 Kings 6:15-17).
2. BENEFITS OF DIVINE SECURITY
a) Protection from Physical and Spiritual Harm:
God shields His people from danger and spiritual attacks (Psalm 121:7-8).
b) Victory Over the Enemy:
God ensures the defeat of the enemy's plans (Isaiah 54:17).
c) Peace in Uncertainty:
Believers enjoy peace knowing God is their refuge (John 14:27).
d) Assurance of God’s Guidance:
Divine security includes God leading His children in the right path (Proverbs 3:5-6).
e) Preservation of Covenant Blessings:
God secures the blessings He has promised His children (Deuteronomy 28:6).
Biblical Example:
The Israelites experienced divine security when the angel of death passed over Egypt (Exodus 12:13).
3. THE PRINCIPLES OF DIVINE SECURITY
a) Faith in God’s Power:
Confidence in God's power activates His protective covering (Hebrews 11:6).
b) Walking in Covenant Relationship:
God’s promises are for those who remain in covenant with Him (Genesis 17:7).
c) Obedience to God’s Word:
Obedience secures divine blessings, including protection (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).
d) Dwelling in God’s Presence:
Those who dwell in God’s presence are protected under His shadow (Psalm 91:1).
e) A Life of Prayer and Intercession:
Prayer builds a wall of protection around the believer (Philippians 4:6-7).
Biblical Example:
Daniel’s life of prayer ensured divine security even in the lion’s den (Daniel 6:22).
4. HOW TO ACTIVATE DIVINE SECURITY
a) Trusting in the Lord Completely:
Faith in God secures His intervention (Proverbs 18:10).
b) Living a Holy and Righteous Life:
Holiness keeps the believer under God’s covering (Psalm 5:12).
c) Pleading the Blood of Jesus:
The blood of Jesus serves as a seal of protection (Revelation 12:11).
d) Speaking God’s Promises Boldly:
Declaring God’s Word builds confidence in His protection (Isaiah 55:11).
e) Seeking God’s Guidance Daily:
God leads His people away from harm when they seek Him (Proverbs 3:6).
Biblical Example:
Moses led Israel under God’s divine security as they escaped Egypt (Exodus 14:13-14).
5. HINDRANCES TO DIVINE SECURITY
a) Lack of Faith in God’s Protection:
Doubt and fear weaken spiritual security (Matthew 14:30-31).
b) Disobedience to God’s Instructions:
Rebellion removes God’s hedge of protection (1 Samuel 15:23).
c) Neglecting Prayer and the Word:
A lack of spiritual discipline exposes believers to attack (Hosea 4:6).
d) Sinful Living:
Sin separates man from God’s covering (Isaiah 59:2).
e) Association with Ungodly Alliances:
Ungodly relationships can lead to loss of divine covering (2 Corinthians 6:14).
Biblical Example:
The fall of King Saul demonstrates how disobedience can lead to the loss of God’s protection (1 Samuel 28:16-18).
