Title: GOD IN THE DAY OF WHAT SHALL I DO (Part 1)

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: 2 Kings 6:15-17
Supporting Texts: Psalm 34:7, Isaiah 41:10, Matthew 6:25-34

INTRODUCTION:
There are moments in life when we face overwhelming challenges, and like Elisha’s servant, we cry out, “What shall we do?” It is in these moments that God reveals Himself as the all-sufficient helper who makes a way where there seems to be no way. This message explores God’s intervention in the face of uncertainty, fear, and impossibilities, using the story of Elisha and the Syrian army as a foundation.

1. GOD OPENS OUR SPIRITUAL EYES

a) Fear Blinds Us to God’s Power
Fear often magnifies our problems and blinds us to God’s presence.
Scripture: Isaiah 41:10 – "Fear not, for I am with you."

b) God’s Presence is Always with Us
God’s presence is constant, even when we cannot see it.
Scripture: Psalm 23:4 – "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me."

c) Divine Vision Brings Confidence
God opens our eyes to see His provision and protection.

d) Heaven’s Resources are Unlimited
God’s provision exceeds our imagination. He has resources beyond human understanding.

e) Biblical Example: Elisha prayed, and God opened his servant’s eyes to see the chariots of fire (2 Kings 6:17).

2. GOD IS A PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE

a) God’s Help is Immediate
When we call on Him, He responds without delay.
Scripture: Psalm 46:1 – "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

b) He Turns the Enemy’s Plan to Foolishness
God confuses the plans of those who rise against His children.

c) God Provides a Way of Escape
He always creates a way out for His people.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:13 – "God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape."

d) God Protects His Own
No weapon formed against His children shall prosper.
Scripture: Isaiah 54:17 – "No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper."

e) Biblical Example: The Syrian army was blinded and led away by Elisha (2 Kings 6:18-19).

3. GOD TRANSFORMS OUR FEARS INTO FAITH

a) Faith Replaces Fear
God empowers us to trust Him even in overwhelming situations.
Scripture: Psalm 56:3 – "When I am afraid, I put my trust in You."

b) Prayer as a Weapon
Prayer opens the door to divine intervention.
Scripture: Philippians 4:6 – "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

c) God’s Word Brings Assurance
His promises remind us of His faithfulness.
Scripture: Matthew 11:28 – "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

d) God’s Deliverance Brings Testimonies
Every intervention of God turns into a testimony of His greatness.

e) Biblical Example: Elisha’s faith in God was unwavering, and his prayer brought divine deliverance (2 Kings 6:16).

4. GOD WORKS IN THE MIDST OF OUR ENEMIES

a) God Uses Our Enemies for His Purpose
He can turn what was meant for evil into good.
Scripture: Genesis 50:20 – "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good."

b) God Humiliates the Enemy
He makes His enemies powerless before Him.
Scripture: Psalm 23:5 – "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies."

c) God’s Power is Unmatched
No enemy can stand against the power of God.

d) God Reveals His Glory Through Battles
Every victory shows His might and sovereignty.

e) Biblical Example: The Syrian army was led to Samaria, and their lives were spared, demonstrating God’s mercy and power (2 Kings 6:20-23).

5. GOD GIVES US PEACE IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM

a) God’s Peace Guards Our Hearts
His peace surpasses all understanding.
Scripture: John 14:27 – "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you."

b) His Presence Calms the Storm
God’s presence stills the chaos around us.
Scripture: Mark 4:39 – "He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, 'Quiet! Be still!' Then the wind died down and it was completely calm."

c) Trusting God Removes Anxiety
When we trust God, we let go of worry and fear.
Scripture: Matthew 6:34 – "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself."

d) His Peace Leads to Victory
Peace is a sign of God’s assurance of victory.

e) Biblical Example: Jesus calmed the storm and brought peace to His disciples (Mark 4:39).
