By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: Mark 11:23
Supporting Texts: Romans 10:10, Proverbs 18:21, Hebrews 10:23
INTRODUCTION:
Faith confession is a powerful principle in the life of a believer. What we speak shapes our lives, because the words we confess in faith align us with God’s will and activate His promises. Our words carry life and power, and through faith-filled confessions, we can access God’s supernatural interventions. This sermon explores the significance of faith confessions and how they empower believers to live victorious lives.
1. WHAT IS FAITH CONFESSION?
a) Defining Faith Confession
Faith confession is declaring with your mouth what you believe in your heart, based on God’s Word (Romans 10:10). It is verbalising God’s promises with faith.
b) It Aligns With God’s Word
Faith confession brings our words in agreement with what God has spoken concerning us (Amos 3:3).
c) Faith Confession Activates Results
When you confess in faith, you give God the permission to move on your behalf (Hebrews 11:6).
d) Faith Confession is a Weapon of Victory
By confessing the Word, believers overcome the devil and enforce victory (Revelation 12:11).
e) Biblical Example: The Woman with the Issue of Blood (Mark 5:28-34). She confessed, “If I may but touch His clothes, I shall be whole,” and her faith confession produced her healing.
2. THE POWER IN YOUR TONGUE
a) Words Carry Life and Death
Proverbs 18:21 teaches that death and life are in the power of the tongue. Your confessions determine your experiences.
b) Faith-Filled Words Build Your Future
Your confessions today shape your reality tomorrow (Job 22:28).
c) Negative Words Bring Negative Results
Speaking fear, doubt, or unbelief empowers the enemy to hinder your progress (Numbers 14:28).
d) Speaking God’s Word Releases His Power
Isaiah 55:11 shows that God’s Word does not return void; it accomplishes His purposes.
e) Biblical Example: David’s Confession of Victory (1 Samuel 17:45-47). David declared victory over Goliath through faith-filled words, and God honoured his confession.
3. HOW TO MAKE FAITH CONFESSIONS
a) Meditate on God’s Word
Fill your heart with Scripture so that your confessions come from a place of faith (Joshua 1:8).
b) Speak in Agreement with God
Ensure your confessions align with what God has said concerning you (Romans 4:17).
c) Confess Boldly and Persistently
Hold fast to your confession without wavering, even in the face of challenges (Hebrews 10:23).
d) Declare God’s Promises Daily
Make a habit of declaring His Word over your life, family, and circumstances.
e) Biblical Example: Abraham (Romans 4:18-21). Abraham confessed his faith in God’s promise to make him a father of nations, and it came to pass.
4. BENEFITS OF FAITH CONFESSION
a) It Builds Faith
Faith comes by hearing, and as you confess God’s Word, your faith grows (Romans 10:17).
b) It Strengthens Your Spirit
Speaking faith-filled words renews your inner man and fortifies you against challenges (2 Corinthians 4:16).
c) It Releases Divine Power
Confessing God’s Word activates His power in your situation (Psalm 107:20).
d) It Changes Situations
Faith confession can move mountains and turn impossible situations around (Mark 11:23).
e) Biblical Example: Jesus (Matthew 4:4-11). Jesus overcame the devil’s temptations by confessing Scripture.
5. OVERCOMING HINDRANCES TO FAITH CONFESSION
a) Doubt and Fear
These are enemies of faith; replace them with God’s promises (Isaiah 41:10).
b) Inconsistent Confessions
Do not waver between faith and doubt; let your confessions remain steadfast (James 1:6-8).
c) Ignorance of God’s Word
Study the Bible diligently to know what to confess (Hosea 4:6).
d) Negative Surroundings
Surround yourself with faith-filled people who encourage you to speak life (Proverbs 13:20).
e) Biblical Example: Peter Walking on Water (Matthew 14:28-31). When Peter doubted, he began to sink. Doubt can hinder the power of faith confession.
