ALTARS THAT SPEAK

Title: ALTARS THAT SPEAK

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Genesis 4:9-10
Supporting Texts: Hebrews 12:24, 1 Kings 18:36-38, Genesis 8:20-22

INTRODUCTION:
In the spiritual realm, altars have a voice. They carry the power to speak blessings or curses, life or death, depending on who built them, the sacrifice offered, and the covenant established. From the altar of Abel’s sacrifice that cried out to God, to the altar of Elijah that called down fire from heaven, altars are not silent; they speak. This study will explore how altars speak, the spiritual significance of their voice, and how believers can ensure their altars declare blessings and not curses.

1. THE CONCEPT OF ALTARS THAT SPEAK

a) Altars as Spiritual Witnesses
Altars are spiritual landmarks that testify to covenants and agreements made in the spiritual realm (Genesis 31:48-52).

b) The Voice of Righteous Altars
Righteous altars, built in honour of God, speak blessings, favour, and divine intervention (Genesis 8:20-22).

c) The Voice of Evil Altars
Altars erected to idols or demonic entities cry out curses, bondage, and destruction upon those connected to them (Judges 6:25-27).

d) The Power of Sacrifice on Altars
The type of sacrifice offered on an altar determines the voice it carries—righteous or evil (Hebrews 12:24).

e) Biblical Example: Abel’s altar and sacrifice were righteous, and though he was killed, his blood cried out to God (Genesis 4:9-10).

2. HOW ALTARS SPEAK BLESSINGS

a) Speaking Blessings Through Sacrificial Obedience
When Noah built an altar after the flood, it released a blessing that affected the entire earth (Genesis 8:20-22).

b) Speaking Blessings Through Worship
Altars raised in worship to God create an atmosphere of divine presence and blessings (Psalm 22:3).

c) Speaking Blessings Through Intercession
The altar of prayer speaks blessings, deliverance, and victory for individuals and nations (1 Kings 18:36-38).

d) The Power of the Blood of Jesus
The altar of the cross speaks better things than the blood of Abel, releasing eternal blessings (Hebrews 12:24).

e) Biblical Example: Solomon’s altar of sacrifice brought God’s blessing of wisdom, riches, and honour (1 Kings 3:3-13).

3. HOW ALTARS SPEAK CURSES

a) Curses from Altars of Sin
Altars raised in disobedience or sin invite curses and destruction (Exodus 20:3-5).

b) Altars of False Worship
Altars dedicated to idols or demonic entities release spiritual oppression and curses (Deuteronomy 12:2-3).

c) Speaking Death Through Unholy Sacrifices
Sacrifices made to strange gods empower evil altars to cry out against families and nations (Psalm 106:36-38).

d) Generational Curses from Evil Altars
Evil altars can perpetuate curses through generations until they are destroyed (Judges 6:25-27).

e) Biblical Example: Jeroboam’s altar of idolatry in Bethel became a source of judgment and destruction (1 Kings 13:1-5).

4. IDENTIFYING THE VOICE OF ALTARS IN YOUR LIFE

a) Listening to Spiritual Patterns
Examine your life for recurring blessings or challenges that may stem from altars speaking over you (Exodus 20:5-6).

b) Discernment Through Prayer and Revelation
Seek God’s guidance to identify altars speaking in your life, whether for good or evil (Jeremiah 33:3).

c) Breaking the Voice of Evil Altars
Through the power of Jesus’ blood and the Word of God, the voice of evil altars can be silenced (Revelation 12:11).

d) Strengthening the Voice of Godly Altars
Build and sustain altars of prayer, worship, and sacrifice to ensure blessings continue to flow (Genesis 12:7).

e) Biblical Example: Gideon destroyed the altar of Baal in his family and built a godly altar, silencing the curses (Judges 6:25-28).

5. BUILDING ALTARS THAT SPEAK BLESSINGS

a) Raising Altars of Consecration
Dedicate your life and resources to God, raising an altar that speaks blessings and divine favour (Romans 12:1).

b) Raising Altars of Thanksgiving
Gratitude to God through altars of thanksgiving releases continuous blessings (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

c) Raising Altars of Intercession
Persistent prayer at the altar brings divine intervention and blessings (Luke 18:1).

d) Raising Altars of Covenant
Establish a covenant relationship with God through the altar, ensuring blessings for generations (Genesis 12:1-3).

e) Biblical Example: Abraham’s altar at Moriah, where he obeyed God in offering Isaac, became a source of generational blessings (Genesis 22:15-18).

CONCLUSION:
Altars have a voice, and they carry the power to speak blessings or curses. As believers, it is essential to ensure that the altars in our lives speak blessings, not only for us but also for generations to come. By raising godly altars of prayer, worship, and obedience, we align ourselves with God’s purposes and silence the voice of evil altars.
