THE POWER OF CONSECRATION

Title: THE POWER OF CONSECRATION

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Romans 12:1-2
Supporting Texts: 2 Timothy 2:20-21, 1 Peter 2:9, Joshua 3:5, Isaiah 6:8

INTRODUCTION:
Consecration is the act of dedicating oneself entirely to God and His purposes. It involves setting apart for holy use and living in alignment with God’s will. This sermon explores the power of consecration, its spiritual implications, and how it positions believers for divine use and supernatural encounters.

1. WHAT IS CONSECRATION?

a) A Commitment to Holiness
Consecration involves living a life of purity and separation from sin (1 Peter 1:15-16).

b) A Dedication to God’s Purpose
It means giving oneself fully to God’s plans and will (Jeremiah 29:11).

c) A Willingness to Be Set Apart
Consecration requires being different from the world’s standards (2 Corinthians 6:17-18).

d) A Decision to Surrender Completely
It involves yielding one’s desires, plans, and ambitions to God (Luke 22:42).

e) Biblical Example: Samuel (1 Samuel 1:27-28). Hannah dedicated Samuel to God’s service, and he became a mighty prophet.

2. THE POWER OF CONSECRATION

a) Unlocks Divine Presence
God’s presence dwells with those who are consecrated (Exodus 29:45).

b) Positions for Supernatural Use
Consecrated vessels are prepared for divine assignments (2 Timothy 2:20-21).

c) Opens Doors to Spiritual Authority
A consecrated life commands authority in the spiritual realm (Acts 19:13-16).

d) Brings Divine Protection
Those who are consecrated are shielded by God (Psalm 91:1).

e) Biblical Example: Joshua (Joshua 3:5). God performed wonders among the Israelites when they consecrated themselves.

3. STEPS TO CONSECRATION

a) Repentance and Cleansing
Start by confessing and forsaking sin (1 John 1:9).

b) Dedicate Your Body as a Living Sacrifice
Offer yourself wholly to God (Romans 12:1).

c) Renew Your Mind with God’s Word
Align your thoughts with Scripture (Romans 12:2).

d) Commit to Obedience
Walk in full obedience to God’s commands (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).

e) Biblical Example: Isaiah (Isaiah 6:8). After cleansing and surrender, Isaiah responded to God’s call with, "Here am I; send me."

4. CHALLENGES TO CONSECRATION

a) The Pull of the World
Distractions from worldly desires hinder consecration (1 John 2:15-17).

b) Fear of Full Commitment
Many hesitate to surrender fully due to fear of the unknown (Luke 9:23).

c) The Influence of Ungodly Relationships
Wrong associations can derail a consecrated life (1 Corinthians 15:33).

d) Lack of Spiritual Discipline
Consecration requires consistent prayer, fasting, and Bible study (Matthew 26:41).

e) Biblical Example: Samson (Judges 16:20). Samson lost his consecration due to compromise, leading to his downfall.

5. THE REWARDS OF CONSECRATION

a) Intimacy with God
Consecrated individuals enjoy a close relationship with God (James 4:8).

b) Access to Divine Secrets
God reveals His plans to the consecrated (Amos 3:7).

c) Empowerment for Service
Consecration brings the anointing for greater works (Acts 13:2-3).

d) Eternal Rewards
A consecrated life lays up treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:20).

e) Biblical Example: Daniel (Daniel 1:8-20). Daniel’s consecration led to wisdom, favour, and elevation in Babylon.
