Supporting Texts: Psalm 5:12, Proverbs 3:3-4, Esther 5:2, Luke 1:28, Psalm 102:13

INTRODUCTION:
An altar is a place of sacrifice and divine interaction. When raised intentionally, it can serve as a point of contact between man and God to provoke blessings and favour. Favour is divine assistance or kindness that elevates a person beyond their natural capacity. Altars dedicated to God with worship, prayer, and sacrifice can open portals of favour that transform lives. This teaching explores how altars activate and sustain divine favour in a believer’s life.

1. THE MEANING OF DIVINE FAVOUR

a) Unmerited Kindness from God
Favour is receiving blessings you do not deserve (Ephesians 2:8-9).

b) Divine Approval
God’s favour places His mark of approval on your life (Psalm 5:12).

c) Supernatural Elevation
Favour promotes beyond human ability (Proverbs 3:3-4).

d) Access to Divine Opportunities
It grants access to opportunities others cannot attain (Revelation 3:8).

e) Biblical Example: Mary found favour with God and became the mother of Jesus (Luke 1:28).

2. HOW ALTARS ATTRACT DIVINE FAVOUR

a) Sacrifice of Thanksgiving
Gratitude expressed on an altar invites favour (Psalm 50:14-15).

b) Obedience to God’s Instructions
Following God’s commands attracts His favour (Isaiah 1:19).

c) Acts of Faith
Faithful prayers and offerings on an altar release God’s blessings (James 2:26).

d) Covenant Commitment
Raising an altar symbolises a covenant that brings divine favour (Genesis 8:20-22).

e) Biblical Example: Noah’s altar after the flood brought divine favour, resulting in God’s covenant with mankind (Genesis 8:20-22).

3. THE MANIFESTATIONS OF DIVINE FAVOUR

a) Open Doors
Favour opens doors to new opportunities (Revelation 3:8).

b) Uncommon Success
Favour leads to success even in difficult circumstances (Genesis 39:2-4).

c) Supernatural Protection
Those who enjoy divine favour are shielded from harm (Psalm 5:12).

d) Accelerated Progress
Favour moves people ahead faster than their peers (Esther 5:2).

e) Biblical Example: Esther received favour before King Ahasuerus, leading to the salvation of her people (Esther 5:2).

4. MAINTAINING FAVOUR THROUGH THE ALTAR

a) A Lifestyle of Holiness
Holiness sustains God’s favour (Psalm 24:3-4).

b) Constant Prayer
A praying altar ensures divine connection (Luke 18:1).

c) Regular Sacrifices
Consistent thanksgiving and offerings keep the altar active (Hebrews 13:15-16).

d) Faithful Service to God
Serving God diligently secures His favour (Exodus 23:25).

e) Biblical Example: Abraham’s consistent altars sustained his covenant and divine favour (Genesis 13:4).

5. OBSTACLES TO DIVINE FAVOUR

a) Sin and Disobedience
Sin blocks the flow of favour (Isaiah 59:1-2).

b) Ingratitude
Lack of thanksgiving diminishes divine favour (Luke 17:17-18).

c) Neglected Altars
A dormant altar cannot attract favour (Judges 6:25-26).

d) Doubt and Unbelief
Lack of faith weakens the effect of an altar (Hebrews 11:6).

e) Biblical Example: Saul’s disobedience led to the loss of divine favour (1 Samuel 15:22-23).

CONCLUSION:
Raising and maintaining altars of favour is a spiritual strategy for unlocking divine blessings in a believer’s life. God desires to pour His favour upon His children, but it requires dedication, sacrifice, and a pure heart. As you raise an altar of worship, prayer, and obedience, expect God’s favour to transform your life, open doors, and bring you into divine alignment with His purpose.
