INTRODUCTION:
Divine wisdom is the ability to apply God’s Word in practical ways to achieve results and fulfil divine purpose. It is beyond human intelligence or knowledge; it is supernatural insight that leads to success, protection, and understanding. Walking in divine wisdom distinguishes believers and aligns them with God’s will for their lives.
1. THE NATURE OF DIVINE WISDOM
a) Pure and Holy
Divine wisdom comes from above and is undefiled (James 3:17).
b) Peaceable and Gentle
It promotes peace and resolves conflicts (Proverbs 3:17).
c) Full of Good Fruits
Divine wisdom produces godly results and benefits others (Matthew 7:16-17).
d) Without Partiality
It does not discriminate or show favouritism (Acts 10:34-35).
e) Biblical Example: King Solomon (1 Kings 3:16-28). Solomon’s wisdom brought justice and peace in Israel.
2. THE SOURCE OF DIVINE WISDOM
a) God Is the Giver of Wisdom
True wisdom comes from God alone (Proverbs 2:6).
b) The Word of God
The Scriptures are a source of wisdom for daily living (Psalm 119:98).
c) The Fear of the Lord
Reverence for God is the foundation of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10).
d) The Holy Spirit
The Spirit of God imparts wisdom and understanding (Isaiah 11:2).
e) Biblical Example: Joseph (Genesis 41:38-40). The wisdom of God in Joseph enabled him to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams and provide solutions.
3. WALKING IN DIVINE WISDOM
a) Seek God Daily
Ask for wisdom in prayer and study His Word (James 1:5).
b) Depend on the Holy Spirit
Yield to the Spirit’s leading in decisions (John 16:13).
c) Practice Obedience
Obey God’s instructions, no matter how simple they appear (Proverbs 3:5-6).
d) Avoid Carnal Wisdom
Reject worldly ways that conflict with God’s principles (1 Corinthians 3:19).
e) Biblical Example: Daniel (Daniel 1:20). Daniel walked in wisdom, making him ten times better than his peers.
4. BENEFITS OF WALKING IN DIVINE WISDOM
a) Protection from Evil
Wisdom shields you from danger and deception (Ecclesiastes 7:12).
b) Promotion and Honour
Wisdom exalts and promotes the one who walks in it (Proverbs 4:8).
c) Peace and Stability
Wisdom brings calmness and resolution in difficult situations (Isaiah 33:6).
d) Favour and Success
Wisdom leads to divine favour and fruitful outcomes (Proverbs 8:35).
e) Biblical Example: Jesus (Luke 2:52). Jesus grew in wisdom, resulting in favour with God and men.
5. HINDRANCES TO DIVINE WISDOM
a) Pride and Self-Reliance
Depending on one’s strength blocks God’s wisdom (Proverbs 16:18).
b) Ignorance of God’s Word
Lack of knowledge leads to foolish decisions (Hosea 4:6).
c) Sin and Disobedience
Sin separates us from God’s counsel (Isaiah 59:2).
d) Ungodly Company
Associating with the wrong people leads to poor decisions (1 Corinthians 15:33).
e) Biblical Example: Rehoboam (1 Kings 12:8). Rejecting godly counsel led to the division of Israel.
CONCLUSION:
Walking in divine wisdom requires a conscious dependence on God and His Word. It is a spiritual treasure that ensures peace, promotion, and fulfilment. As believers, we are called to walk in wisdom and be a light to the world, reflecting God’s glory in all we do.
