DIVINE INTERVENTION IN THE IMPOSSIBLE

Title: DIVINE INTERVENTION IN THE IMPOSSIBLE

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Luke 1:37
For with God nothing will be impossible.”

Supporting Texts: Jeremiah 32:17, Matthew 19:26, Mark 10:27, Romans 4:17, Daniel 3:17

INTRODUCTION:
Divine intervention is God stepping into human situations to do what is beyond natural ability. It is when God supersedes the laws of nature, overturns impossibilities, and accomplishes what men deem unachievable. In life, we face challenges that seem insurmountable, but God, in His infinite power, intervenes in ways that turn the impossible into the possible. This message highlights how God intervenes in the impossible and how we can trust Him to do the same in our lives.

1. UNDERSTANDING DIVINE INTERVENTION

a) Divine Intervention Defies Natural Laws:
God’s intervention is not bound by the limitations of time, space, or natural laws. He can alter the course of nature, change hearts, and open doors that seem shut (Jeremiah 32:17).

b) It Demonstrates God’s Sovereignty:
When God intervenes in the impossible, it showcases His sovereignty over all things, demonstrating that He is in control of everything, even when it seems otherwise (Matthew 19:26).

c) It Brings Glory to God:
Divine intervention in impossible situations always leads to the glorification of God. It is through these miracles that people acknowledge God’s power (Mark 10:27).

d) It Transforms Desperation into Hope:
In seemingly hopeless situations, God’s intervention brings new life, hope, and possibility. What was once a source of despair becomes an opportunity for God to display His glory (Romans 4:17).

e) Biblical Example:
In the story of Abraham and Sarah, God intervened in their impossibility of having a child when they were well beyond childbearing age, fulfilling His promise (Genesis 18:14).

2. THE NATURE OF IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS

a) Impossible Situations Are Often Beyond Human Control:
Many times, we face situations that are beyond our ability to resolve—health crises, financial struggles, family breakdowns, and more. These situations often seem impossible to change by human effort.

b) The Impossible is a Platform for Divine Glory:
God allows impossible situations to arise so that His power and glory can be revealed. The greater the impossibility, the greater the glory God receives (John 11:40).

c) Faith is the Key to Unlocking Divine Intervention:
For God to intervene, there must be faith—trust in His power and willingness to act in our behalf (Mark 9:23). Faith activates God’s intervention in the impossible.

d) The Impossible Becomes Possible Through Prayer:
God’s intervention often comes in response to prayer. When we bring the impossible to God in prayer, He responds with His supernatural power (Daniel 3:17-18).

e) Biblical Example:
Daniel’s prayer for divine intervention in the lion’s den was answered by God when He shut the mouths of the lions, defying all natural expectations (Daniel 6:22).

3. HOW GOD INTERVENES IN THE IMPOSSIBLE

a) Through Miracles:
God performs miracles that go beyond the laws of nature, such as parting the Red Sea or turning water into wine. These miracles are tangible signs of His divine power (Exodus 14:21-22).

b) Through Prophetic Word:
God speaks through His prophets to reveal His will and bring about His intervention. A prophetic declaration can change the course of events and bring solutions to the impossible (1 Kings 17:14).

c) Through Supernatural Strength and Courage:
When the impossible seems overwhelming, God gives His people strength, courage, and wisdom to persevere and overcome (Philippians 4:13).

d) Through Divine Timing:
Sometimes, God’s intervention occurs at just the right moment, when all hope seems lost, and the situation appears most hopeless. His timing is perfect, and His intervention is always on time (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

e) Biblical Example:
The intervention of God in the case of the three Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace showed that He is able to save from the most impossible situations. They were not burned, and God was glorified (Daniel 3:16-30).

4. BUILDING FAITH TO RECEIVE DIVINE INTERVENTION

a) Trust in God’s Power:
Believing in God’s omnipotence is foundational to receiving His intervention. When we trust that He can do all things, we open ourselves to the possibility of the impossible becoming possible (Luke 1:37).

b) Confession of Faith:
Declare God’s ability to intervene in the impossible. Our words can activate the power of God when we speak faith-filled declarations (Romans 10:10).

c) Persistence in Prayer:
Even when the situation seems unchanged, continue to pray with faith, knowing that God hears and answers prayer (Luke 18:1-8).

d) Surrender to God’s Will:
Sometimes, God’s intervention may not come as we expect, but it will always be in line with His perfect will. Surrendering to God’s plan opens the door to divine intervention (Matthew 26:39).

e) Biblical Example:
The persistent prayer of Hannah for a child led to divine intervention. God opened her womb and she bore Samuel (1 Samuel 1:9-20).

5. THE RESULTS OF DIVINE INTERVENTION

a) Restoration of Hope and Joy:
Divine intervention brings renewed hope and joy, replacing despair and sorrow with victory (Psalm 30:11-12).

b) Fulfillment of God’s Promises:
Through divine intervention, God fulfills His promises, often in ways that exceed our expectations and timing (Ephesians 3:20).

c) Empowerment to Overcome:
God’s intervention empowers His people to overcome trials, emerging stronger and more victorious than before (Romans 8:37).

d) Greater Testimony and Glory to God:
When God intervenes in the impossible, it results in greater testimony and glory to God, leading others to faith in His power (John 9:3-5).

e) Biblical Example:
The miraculous healing of the blind man by Jesus resulted in not only the restoration of his sight but also in the glorification of God (John 9:6-9).

CONCLUSION:
Divine intervention in the impossible is a powerful reminder that nothing is beyond the reach of God’s power. When faced with impossible situations, we are called to trust in God’s ability to step into our circumstances and bring about change. As we trust, pray, and remain faithful, God will intervene in ways that defy human understanding, bringing glory to His name and fulfillment of His promises.
