By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: Joshua 1:1-5

INTRODUCTION:
The promises of God concerning His children are true, but they require action. The Israelites had the Promised Land set before them, but it was their responsibility to rise and possess it. Many believers are yet to claim what God has ordained for them due to fear, ignorance, or spiritual opposition. The time to arise and possess your possession is now.
There are certain inheritances waiting to be claimed by you. What are these possessions? They are things Heaven had registered in your name but you are yet to collect like every promise by God that is yet pending; every boundary destiny set for you to occupy, every allocation yet unpossessed (e.g. good spouse, children, jobs, etc). The children of Israel couldn't enter the promised land until Joshua came and God showed him how the Israelites should possess it.
God said "No man shall be able to stand before you all your life; as I was with Moses, so lam with you. You will possess every place that the soles of your feet shall tread on" Joshua 1:3-5. The formula is to put the soles of your feet on it. While in the physical, you receive with your hands; the feet are used to possess things in the spirit and then it begins to manifest physically with time. Henceforth, begin to possess every divine allocation in Jesus name. Walk into your possessions!
This message unveils key steps and principles for claiming your divine inheritance.
1. RECOGNISE YOUR INHERITANCE
a) The promise of God:
God has made promises concerning your life, such as peace, joy, healing, provision, and victory (Joshua 1:3).
b) The scope of your inheritance:
Your inheritance is vast and includes spiritual, physical, and material blessings (Genesis 13:14-17).
c) Heaven's declaration:
God has set your portion before you; it is now up to you to go and claim it (Deuteronomy 1:21).
d) The assurance of divine backing:
God promises to be with you as you take steps to possess your blessings (Joshua 1:5).
e) Biblical Example: Caleb recognised his inheritance and boldly demanded his mountain at 85 years old (Joshua 14:10-12).
2. ARISE IN FAITH
a) Action is required:
The command to arise implies moving beyond passivity to active pursuit (Joshua 1:2).
b) Confront fear and discouragement:
God instructed the Israelites not to fear or be discouraged (Deuteronomy 1:21).
c) Faith activates possession:
The soles of your feet symbolise faith steps; every step you take is a declaration of possession (Joshua 1:3).
d) Speak to your situation:
Faith requires declaring God's promises boldly (Romans 10:17).
e) Biblical Example: The woman with the issue of blood arose in faith and touched Jesus' garment for her healing (Mark 5:25-34).
3. OVERCOME SPIRITUAL RESISTANCE
a) Recognise unseen forces:
Your inheritance may be opposed by spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12).
b) Warfare through prayer:
Engage in persistent prayers to claim what is rightfully yours (Matthew 7:7).
c) The blood of Jesus speaks for you:
The blood of Jesus is a powerful weapon against all opposition (Revelation 12:11).
d) The power of agreement:
Corporate prayers and declarations bring victory (Matthew 18:19).
e) Biblical Example: Daniel's prayers broke through spiritual resistance to receive his answer (Daniel 10:12-14).
4. WALK IN OBEDIENCE
a) Obedience unlocks blessings:
God's promises are tied to obedience (Isaiah 1:19).
b) Follow divine instructions:
God gave specific instructions to Joshua for possessing the land (Joshua 1:7-8).
c) Holiness is key:
Possession requires standing on holy ground (Obadiah 1:17).
d) Let go of the past:
Forget the former things to embrace new opportunities (Isaiah 43:18-19).
e) Biblical Example: Peter obeyed Jesus' instruction to cast the net and experienced a miraculous catch (Luke 5:4-7).
5. MAINTAIN A POSSESSOR'S MINDSET
a) Renew your mind:
Possessing your inheritance starts with a transformation of your thinking (Romans 12:2).
b) Be persistent:
Do not give up until you take full possession of what belongs to you (Luke 18:1).
c) Acknowledge God's presence:
God’s presence guarantees success in your journey (Joshua 1:5).
d) Celebrate small victories:
Every step of progress is a sign that greater things are ahead (Zechariah 4:10).
e) Biblical Example: David maintained a victorious mindset and defeated Goliath with confidence in God's power (1 Samuel 17:45-47).
CONCLUSION:
The promises of God are certain, but they require your action to manifest. Recognise your inheritance, arise in faith, overcome resistance, walk in obedience, and maintain a possessor's mindset. Now is the time to arise and possess your possessions, knowing that God is with you every step of the way.
