WHAT KILLED OTHERS WILL NOT KILL YOU 1

SERMON: WHAT KILLED OTHERS WILL NOT KILL YOU (Part 1)

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Psalm 91:7
Supporting Texts: Isaiah 54:17, Exodus 12:13, Daniel 3:25

INTRODUCTION:

In life, there are dangers and challenges that seem to destroy others—whether it be sickness, accidents, or spiritual attacks. But as children of God, we are assured of divine protection and exemption. What killed or destroyed others will not kill you, because the Lord is your shield and defender. This message emphasizes the promises of God’s supernatural protection over your life. No matter what the enemy sends, you will stand strong and victorious.

1. DIVINE EXEMPTION FROM DESTRUCTION

a) God’s Protection Over His Children:
Psalm 91:7 declares, “A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.” This is the confidence we have in God’s protection, that no matter what happens to others, we are under His covering.

b) Marked by the Blood of Jesus:
Just as the blood of the lamb protected the Israelites during the Passover (Exodus 12:13), the blood of Jesus is our mark of exemption. Where others fall, you will stand because of the blood.

c) Shielded from the Enemy’s Attacks:
Isaiah 54:17 assures us that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. While others may be vulnerable to attacks, you are shielded by God’s grace.

Biblical Example: The children of Israel were spared from the plagues in Egypt, while the Egyptians suffered great losses. God made a distinction between His people and the world (Exodus 8:22-23).

2. GOD’S SUPERNATURAL PROTECTION IN THE MIDST OF DANGER

a) Divine Presence in the Fire:
The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3:25 shows us that even in the midst of danger, God is with us. They were thrown into the fiery furnace, but the fire did not harm them because the Lord was with them.

b) The Power of Angelic Protection:
Psalm 91:11 says that God will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. When others fall, it’s the angels of God that lift you up and protect you from harm.

c) Delivered from Every Trap:
Psalm 91:3 tells us that God will save us from the snare of the fowler. Whether it is physical, spiritual, or emotional traps, the Lord will deliver you.

Biblical Example: Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den, but the lions could not harm him because God shut their mouths (Daniel 6:22).

3. GOD TURNS WHAT WAS MEANT FOR EVIL INTO GOOD

a) What Was Meant to Kill You Will Bless You:
Romans 8:28 reminds us that all things work together for good to those who love God. What others fear will destroy them, God will use to promote and bless you.

b) Overcoming Where Others Fall:
While others may fall in sickness, hardship, or spiritual battles, you will rise because God is your strength. He will empower you to stand firm where others stumble.

c) Turning Trials into Testimonies:
The trials that cause others to give up will become testimonies of God’s faithfulness in your life. What the enemy meant for evil, God will turn it around for your good (Genesis 50:20).

Biblical Example: Joseph was sold into slavery and imprisoned, but God used what was meant for his destruction to elevate him to a position of power in Egypt (Genesis 50:19-20).

4. STAYING UNDER GOD’S COVERING

a) Living a Life of Obedience:
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 tells us that blessings follow obedience. When we live in obedience to God’s word, we remain under His covering, and no harm can come near us.

b) Trusting in God’s Faithfulness:
Psalm 91:4 says, “His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” Trust in the Lord, and He will cover you with His protection.

c) Walking by Faith, Not by Sight:
Even when danger surrounds you, walk by faith in God’s promises. He will keep you safe from the plans of the enemy and give you victory.

Biblical Example: The Israelites trusted in God’s command to put the blood on their doorposts during the Passover, and because of their obedience and faith, they were spared from death (Exodus 12:21-23).

CONCLUSION:

What has killed or destroyed others will not kill you because you are under the supernatural protection of God. Just as the children of Israel were exempted from the plagues in Egypt, and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were spared from the fire, so will God keep you from every harm and danger. Trust in His promises, walk in obedience, and know that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. You will live to declare the works of the Lord.

9. You will walk in divine health, protection, and favour all the days of your life.

10. I declare that you will live and not die. You will declare the works of the Lord in the land of the living.

This message reminds us of God's promise of divine protection, ensuring that believers will not fall victim to the same challenges that destroy others.
