INTRODUCTION:
Affliction is a part of life that everyone encounters, but God promises that we can experience deliverance and relief from all forms of affliction. This sermon will explore the truth of God's word regarding our afflictions, His promises for our deliverance, and how we can stand firm in faith to claim the freedom that He provides.

1. UNDERSTANDING AFFLICTION

a) Defining Affliction
Affliction refers to a state of pain, distress, or grief that can manifest physically, emotionally, or spiritually (Isaiah 53:4).

b) The Reality of Affliction
Afflictions are a part of the human experience, as expressed in Psalm 34:19, which tells us that many are the afflictions of the righteous.

c) Purpose of Affliction
God can use affliction to refine our character and deepen our faith (Romans 5:3-5).

d) Types of Affliction
Afflictions can come in various forms, including sickness, financial struggles, relationship issues, and spiritual warfare (Job 14:1).

Biblical Example:
Job’s story illustrates the depth of human affliction and God’s faithfulness in restoring him (Job 42:10).

2. GOD’S PROMISES FOR DELIVERANCE

a) God’s Assurance of Safety
Isaiah 54:14 promises that we will be established in righteousness and will not fear oppression.

b) God’s Power to Deliver
God’s power is greater than any affliction we face; He promises to deliver us from all evil (2 Corinthians 4:17).

c) The Role of Faith
Our faith in God activates His promises of deliverance (Matthew 17:20).

d) Victory Over Affliction
Romans 8:37 assures us that we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us.

Biblical Example:
The Israelites in Egypt were afflicted but were delivered by God’s mighty hand (Exodus 3:7-8).

3. STANDING FIRM IN FAITH

a) Trusting in God’s Plan
We must trust that God has a purpose in our affliction and that His plan is good (Jeremiah 29:11).

b) Declaring God’s Word
Speaking God’s promises over our lives brings strength and assurance (Isaiah 55:11).

c) Seeking God in Prayer
Bringing our afflictions before God in prayer opens the door for His intervention (Philippians 4:6-7).

d) Surrounding Ourselves with Support
Engaging with a community of believers provides encouragement and strength during difficult times (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Biblical Example:
Hannah’s persistence in prayer for a child led to her miraculous deliverance (1 Samuel 1:9-20).

4. EXPERIENCING GOD’S DELIVERANCE

a) The Transformative Power of God
God can turn our mourning into joy and our sorrow into gladness (Psalm 30:11-12).

b) The Importance of Worship
Worshiping God in the midst of affliction invites His presence and power (Psalm 22:3).

c) Receiving His Rest
Matthew 11:28-30 invites us to come to Jesus for rest from our burdens.

d) Testifying of His Goodness
Sharing our testimonies of deliverance encourages others and glorifies God (Psalm 66:16).

Biblical Example:
The woman with the issue of blood experienced healing after touching Jesus’ garment (Mark 5:25-34).

5. DECLARE NO MORE AFFLICTION

a) Proclaiming God’s Word Over Our Lives

Using the authority we have in Christ to combat spiritual afflictions (Ephesians 6:12).

Believing in God’s healing power for physical, emotional, and spiritual afflictions (James 5:14-15).

d) Living in Victory
Walking in the victory that Christ has secured for us (1 Corinthians 15:57).

Biblical Example:
Paul and Silas praised God in prison, leading to their miraculous release (Acts 16:25-26).
