DELIVERANCE FROM EVIL FOUNDATION

SERMON: DELIVERANCE FROM EVIL FOUNDATION

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Isaiah 58:12
Supporting Texts: Psalm 11:3, Jeremiah 1:10, Ephesians 2:19-22

INTRODUCTION:

The concept of foundations is significant in both the physical and spiritual realms. Just as a building cannot stand firm without a solid foundation, our lives cannot thrive if built on evil foundations. Evil foundations represent any negative or sinful roots established in our lives, families, or generations that hinder our progress, blessings, and relationship with God. This sermon aims to highlight the importance of identifying, confronting, and breaking free from these evil foundations to experience true deliverance and restoration.

1. UNDERSTANDING EVIL FOUNDATIONS

a) Definition of Evil Foundations:
Evil foundations are deeply rooted issues, sins, or curses that have been established in our lives or family lines, often through ancestral actions, wrong choices, or generational sins (Jeremiah 1:10).

b) Biblical Examples of Evil Foundations:
The children of Israel faced generational curses that affected their journey in the Promised Land (Exodus 20:5). The sins of past generations can impact the present, as seen with David's lineage and the consequences of his actions.

c) The Importance of a Strong Foundation:
Psalm 11:3 reminds us that if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? A strong foundation in Christ is essential for building a successful and fulfilling life.

Biblical Example: The parable of the wise and foolish builders illustrates the importance of building on a solid foundation (Matthew 7:24-27).

2. IDENTIFYING EVIL FOUNDATIONS

a) Signs of Evil Foundations in Our Lives:
Some signs may include recurring failures, negative patterns, family conflicts, health issues, and stagnation. These may indicate the presence of an evil foundation that needs to be addressed.

b) Seeking God’s Revelation:
We must ask God to reveal any hidden evil foundations in our lives. Psalm 139:23-24 encourages us to invite God to search our hearts and expose any wicked ways within us.

c) The Role of Prayer and Fasting:
Isaiah 58:12 emphasizes the power of prayer and fasting in breaking down evil foundations. When we earnestly seek God, He reveals areas of our lives that require deliverance.

Biblical Example: Nehemiah prayed and fasted to identify the sin of his people that had resulted in the walls of Jerusalem being in ruins (Nehemiah 1:4-5).

3. DELIVERANCE FROM EVIL FOUNDATIONS

a) Repentance and Confession:
To break free from evil foundations, we must genuinely repent and confess our sins and those of our ancestors. This step is crucial in receiving God’s forgiveness and cleansing (1 John 1:9).

b) Breaking Curses and Strongholds:
We must actively break any curses or strongholds associated with evil foundations. This can be done through prayer, declaring the Word of God, and using the name of Jesus to dismantle the works of the enemy (Ephesians 6:12).

c) Building a New Foundation in Christ:
Once we have renounced evil foundations, we must build our lives on the foundation of Christ. Ephesians 2:19-22 emphasizes that we are now members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ as the chief cornerstone.

Biblical Example: The story of the prodigal son shows the power of returning to the Father to rebuild a new life after breaking free from a destructive foundation (Luke 15:17-24).

4. LIVING IN THE LIGHT OF DELIVERANCE

a) Embracing a New Identity in Christ:
Once delivered, it’s essential to embrace our new identity as children of God. This involves recognizing that we have been set free from the chains of our past and evil foundations.

b) Establishing Godly Habits and Practices:
To prevent evil foundations from being re-established, we must cultivate habits that reinforce our new foundation in Christ, such as regular prayer, studying the Word, and fellowship with believers (2 Timothy 2:19).

c) Testifying of God’s Goodness:
Sharing our testimony of deliverance serves as a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness and encourages others who may be struggling with similar issues (Revelation 12:11).

Biblical Example: The man who was delivered from demons in the region of the Gerasenes shared his testimony of Jesus’ power (Mark 5:18-20).

CONCLUSION:

Deliverance from evil foundations is not just about breaking free from past bondage; it is about establishing a new life built on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ. We must confront these evil foundations through repentance, prayer, and building a life that reflects our new identity in Christ. As we do so, we will experience the fullness of God's blessings and purpose for our lives.
