INTRODUCTION:
Every individual is born with a divine purpose, designed by God to fulfil greatness on earth. However, the journey to greatness often requires discovery, development, and the divine orchestration of God’s plan. To be great is to fulfil God's intention for your life, to be a beacon of light, and to make a lasting impact on the world. Greatness is not defined by worldly standards but by fulfilling the unique calling that God has placed on your life. In this study, we will explore what it means to be born for greatness and how we can live out that greatness.
1. GREATNESS IS IN YOUR SPIRITUAL DNA
a) Created in God’s Image:
Being made in the image of God means that we carry His nature, which includes the capacity for greatness (Genesis 1:26-28).
b) Chosen Before Birth:
Just as God chose Jeremiah for a great assignment even before his birth, every individual is called to fulfil a divine purpose (Jeremiah 1:5).
c) Called to be a Light:
God has called us to be lights in this world, reflecting His greatness and glory through our lives (Matthew 5:14-16).
d) You Are a Royal Priesthood:
As believers, we are a chosen generation, called to display the greatness of God through our identity in Christ (1 Peter 2:9).
Biblical Example:
Jeremiah was born with a prophetic destiny, set apart by God to carry out a significant purpose from his mother’s womb (Jeremiah 1:5).
2. GREATNESS IS ACHIEVED THROUGH DIVINE PURPOSE
a) God Has a Plan for You:
Each person is born with a divine assignment. God's purpose for our lives is the blueprint for greatness (Jeremiah 29:11).
b) You Were Born for Good Works:
God has prepared good works for us to walk in. Our greatness is revealed as we fulfil those good works (Ephesians 2:10).
c) Embracing Your Calling:
Recognising and accepting the calling God has placed on your life is key to stepping into greatness (Romans 8:29-30).
d) Fulfilling God's Mission:
Greatness comes as you fulfil the mission God has assigned to you, whether it is to influence your family, community, or the world at large (John 17:4).
Biblical Example:
Moses was born to deliver Israel from bondage. Though he initially doubted, God’s purpose for his life led him to greatness (Exodus 3:10-12).
3. GREATNESS REQUIRES FAITH AND OBEDIENCE
a) Walking by Faith:
To walk in greatness, you must trust God's plan, even when it is not fully clear (Hebrews 11:6).
b) Obedience Leads to Greatness:
True greatness is the result of obedience to God’s instructions and commands (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).
c) Faithful in Little, Ruler over Much:
Greatness often begins with small steps of faithfulness. God promotes those who are faithful in little things (Luke 16:10).
d) Rely on God’s Strength:
God will give you the strength and resources you need to accomplish the great things He has set for you (Philippians 4:13).
Biblical Example:
Abraham became great because he obeyed God’s command to leave his country and go to a land God would show him (Genesis 12:1-3).
4. GREATNESS IS SHAPED THROUGH CHALLENGES
a) Challenges Are Part of the Journey:
The road to greatness often involves overcoming obstacles and enduring trials (James 1:2-4).
b) God Develops Your Character:
Through challenges, God moulds your character, preparing you for the greatness He has in store (Romans 5:3-4).
c) Strength in Adversity:
Greatness is often revealed in times of adversity, where you learn to trust God’s faithfulness (Isaiah 40:31).
d) Persevere to Greatness:
The ability to endure hardship with faith allows you to rise above every challenge on the path to greatness (Galatians 6:9).
e) Biblical Example:
Joseph's path to greatness involved betrayal, imprisonment, and suffering. Yet through it all, God prepared him for greatness (Genesis 50:20).
5. HOW TO WALK IN YOUR GOD-GIVEN GREATNESS
a) Discover Your Purpose:
Seek God in prayer and through His Word to discover the purpose for which you were born (Proverbs 20:5).
b) Walk in Faith and Obedience:
Trust God’s leading and be obedient to His instructions, no matter how challenging they may seem (James 1:22).
c) Develop Godly Character:
Character is essential for sustaining greatness. Allow God to shape you into the person He wants you to be (Romans 12:2).
d) Stay Connected to God:
Remain in fellowship with God through prayer, worship, and the study of His Word. Your connection to God is key to living a life of greatness (John 15:5).
Biblical Example:
David discovered his greatness by staying connected to God. He was anointed king, but it was his heart of worship and obedience that kept him in alignment with God’s purpose (1 Samuel 16:13).
CONCLUSION:
You were born to be great. God has placed within you a divine purpose, a unique assignment that only you can fulfil. Walking in this greatness requires faith, obedience, and perseverance through challenges. Just like Jeremiah, Joseph, and David, we can all rise to the greatness that God has destined for us. Seek God’s presence, embrace His plan for your life, and trust Him to lead you into the greatness He has prepared for you.
