INTRODUCTION:
Errors are part of the human experience, but they can also be dangerous, costly, and even deadly if left unchecked. Some mistakes are recoverable; others can leave scars that last a lifetime. The difference between repeating errors and overcoming them lies in wisdom.

Wisdom is the divine ability to apply knowledge rightly in the light of God’s Word. While knowledge can show you what is wrong, wisdom empowers you to avoid or correct it. Many in Scripture fell into error because they acted without wisdom, while others overcame mistakes because they sought God’s counsel.

This message will equip you with the spiritual tools needed to rise above costly errors and walk in a path of divine accuracy.

1. UNDERSTANDING ERRORS

a) Errors can be spiritual, mental, or practical (Hosea 4:6)
Lack of knowledge can lead to wrong decisions in any area of life.

b) Errors can affect destiny (Numbers 20:11-12)
Moses lost entry into the Promised Land because of a single disobedient act.

c) Errors often come through haste (Proverbs 19:2)
Acting without understanding invites disaster.

d) Errors may come through wrong counsel (1 Kings 12:8-11)
Rehoboam’s kingdom was divided because he ignored wise counsel.

Biblical Example: Uzzah — touched the ark wrongly and lost his life (2 Samuel 6:6-7).

2. THE CONSEQUENCES OF UNCORRECTED ERRORS

a) Delay in destiny fulfilment (Jonah 1:3-4)
Disobedience detours you from your appointed path.

b) Loss of resources and opportunities (Judges 16:20-21)
Samson’s careless living cost him his strength and sight.

c) Strained relationships (Genesis 16:4-6)
Sarah’s impatience created conflict for generations.

d) Spiritual dryness and stagnation (Psalm 32:3-4)
Unacknowledged mistakes can hinder your fellowship with God.

Biblical Example: The ten spies — their error of unbelief delayed Israel for 40 years.

3. WISDOM PRINCIPLES FOR OVERCOMING ERRORS

a) Seek God’s guidance before decisions (James 1:5)
Wisdom begins with asking God for direction.

b) Slow down and think prayerfully (Proverbs 4:26)
Pause before acting to avoid hasty mistakes.

c) Learn from past experiences (Psalm 119:71)
Turn mistakes into lessons, not repeated patterns.

d) Surround yourself with wise counsel (Proverbs 11:14)
The right people can help you avoid wrong turns.

Biblical Example: David — after the error with Uzzah, he sought God’s order before moving the ark again.

4. HOW TO RECOVER FROM PAST ERRORS

a) Acknowledge and confess the error (1 John 1:9)
Denial prolongs the pain; confession brings cleansing.

b) Make necessary corrections (Luke 19:8)
Zacchaeus restored what he had wrongfully taken.

c) Renew your mind with God’s Word (Romans 12:2)
Transformation starts in your thinking.

d) Trust God for restoration (Joel 2:25)
God can redeem time and opportunities you lost.

Biblical Example: Peter — denied Christ, but through repentance and restoration, became a pillar in the Church.

CONCLUSION:
No one is beyond making mistakes, but with the wisdom of God, you can live in accuracy and avoid repeating costly errors. God’s wisdom directs, preserves, and restores. If you will acknowledge Him in all your ways, He will order your steps away from pitfalls and towards your divine destiny.
