Description: God has the power to turn dryness into fruitfulness, supplying life-giving water to every desert of your life.
INTRODUCTION:
Dry land represents barrenness, lack, delay, and unproductivity. Spiritually, it is a place where life seems stagnant and prayers appear unanswered. Yet God reveals Himself as the One who waters dry lands, making deserts bloom with life again.
From Genesis to Revelation, water symbolises life, the Holy Spirit, and divine provision. Wherever God releases His waters, transformation takes place—dead things come alive, barren places become fruitful, and impossibilities turn into testimonies.
This message assures us that no matter how dry or hopeless a situation may seem, God has promised to water our dry lands. If we trust in Him, He will send His rain, refresh our souls, and turn every desert of our lives into a fertile garden.
1. GOD IS THE SOURCE OF LIVING WATER
Before any dry land can be watered, we must acknowledge that God alone is the true source of life-giving water.
a) God opens the heavens (Deuteronomy 28:12)
He commands His blessings like rain from above, watering every area of need.
b) Jesus is the living water (John 7:37-38)
He promised rivers of living water to flow out of those who believe in Him.
c) The Holy Spirit is the fountain of refreshment (John 4:14)
Whoever drinks from Christ never thirsts again because the Spirit becomes a well within.
d) God’s supply never runs dry (Psalm 36:9)
With Him is the fountain of life; His abundance is eternal.
Biblical Example: In Exodus 17:6, God brought water out of the rock through Moses, proving He is the unfailing source of living water.
2. GOD WATERS BARREN AND FRUITLESS LANDS
God specialises in turning wastelands into fruitful gardens, restoring hope where there was none.
a) God makes deserts bloom (Isaiah 35:1-2)
The wilderness shall rejoice and blossom abundantly when God waters it.
b) Dry seasons are temporary (Psalm 126:4-5)
God restores fortunes like streams in the Negev, turning tears into joy.
c) Fruitfulness is God’s will (Genesis 1:28)
From creation, God’s mandate is for His children to be fruitful and multiply.
d) God remembers the barren (1 Samuel 2:5)
He makes the barren woman fruitful, overturning every reproach.
Biblical Example: In 2 Kings 3:16-20, God filled dry valleys with water without rain, proving His power to water barren lands.
3. GOD SENDS THE RAIN OF HIS SPIRIT
Beyond physical water, God promises the outpouring of His Spirit to refresh and empower His people.
a) The promise of the latter rain (Joel 2:23)
God pours out His Spirit like rain to bring restoration and harvest.
b) Showers of blessing (Ezekiel 34:26)
God rains His Spirit, favour, and increase upon His children.
c) The Spirit revives the weary (Isaiah 44:3)
God pours water on the thirsty and floods on the dry ground, reviving His people.
d) The Spirit brings transformation (Acts 2:17)
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit brings visions, dreams, and power for exploits.
Biblical Example: On the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), the Holy Spirit was poured out like rain, filling and empowering the disciples.
4. GOD TURNS DRY LAND INTO TESTIMONIES
When God waters a dry land, testimonies overflow, and His name is glorified.
a) Dryness gives way to abundance (Psalm 65:9-10)
God visits the earth and waters it, enriching it with His rivers.
b) Delayed promises become fulfilled (Habakkuk 2:3)
Though it tarries, God’s rain of fulfilment comes at the appointed time.
c) Broken lives are restored (Isaiah 58:11)
God makes His people like a well-watered garden, full of life and strength.
d) The testimony of new beginnings (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Every dry past is replaced by new life in Christ.
Biblical Example: In John 2:1-11, Jesus turned water into wine at Cana, turning a dry moment of shame into a testimony of overflowing joy.
